Overall I'm glad I bought the machine! the water tastes great, I found the setup straight forward enough just had to pause the video and rewind a few times as it moves on pretty quick, the complete set I ordered came with load of mineral sachets, 2 infusion bottles, 2 really nice branded glass water bottles and some descaling sachets for cleaning the machine.
it dispenses pretty quick and I really like the screen and touch buttons it's very simple to use.

Things that are annoying or don't make sense in my opinion, the plate that covers the mineral bottle opens at the bottom and is fiddly, I will often be changing the minerals so have decided to leave this off because it's just annoying having to remove the drip tray and plate to change the minerals, there are only 2 mineral infusion bottles included even tho there is 3 types of mineral sachet and 3 bottle labels so it was annoying that there's only 2 bottles included and on the website you can only purchase an additional 2, the waste water tank is tiny and needs emptying pretty much everytime ive used the machine, on the website you can purchase a new tank with a drain but this should be included in my opinion or the option to have a tank with or without the drain, having bought a 'complete' start up set and then having to look at buying additional items seem like a rip off to me when you've already spent a lot of money, additional to this my purchase hadn't even arrived after a week despite having next day delivery, it was only when I contacted customer services did I then get any information or update the was apparently a back log, my order was then dispatched that day and delivered the next
Having contacted customer service with my concerns they have said they will take these issues into consideration and very kindly have offered to send me a 3rd mineral bottle for free

Despite the few issues the machine does what it's meant to and I'm happy with my purchase

I bought this reverse osmosis water dispenser from Skuma Water because I was honestly fed up with how awful my tap water tastes in my area. A few days before purchasing the dispenser, I cooked spaghetti using tap water and, even after adding seasoning and tomato sauce, the spaghetti still had an unpleasant taste. That was the final push for me to look for an alternative.

Overall, I’m happy with my purchase, and I’ve decided to give it 4 stars for the following reasons:

Pros

The water tastes noticeably better.
The machine genuinely removes the unpleasant taste from my tap water. I’m extremely fussy about the water I drink and, before buying this machine, I would only drink bottled water such as Voss and Ursu. I genuinely believe water has a taste, so I was pleasantly surprised by how good the water from this dispenser tastes. I’m using the mineral sachets provided by Skuma, and the water tastes clean, fresh and pleasant to drink.

Easy to use once it’s set up.
Once you get through the initial setup, the machine is very straightforward to use. The digital screen is helpful and makes it easy to select the settings you need.

Helpful waste-water notification.
The machine lets you know when the waste-water tank needs emptying, which is useful because you don’t have to keep checking it yourself.

Generous supply of mineral sachets.
Skuma was quite generous with the mineral sachets. I received more than I expected, which was a nice bonus.

The glass bottles are very sturdy.
I bought two of the glass bottles as well, and I’m impressed with their quality. I accidentally hit a cupboard quite hard with one of them, dropped it from my hands onto the kitchen worktop, and thankfully it didn’t shatter. They feel like strong, good-quality bottles.

Cons

The initial setup could be much easier.
My biggest issue was the lack of a proper step-by-step paper manual for the initial setup. Instead, you’re directed to a YouTube video. I personally found this quite difficult to follow because the person in the video went through the steps faster than I could keep up. I constantly had to pause and rewind the video to make sure I was doing everything correctly, which made the whole setup process feel quite painful.

I think this is something Skuma Water should consider improving. Not every customer is particularly confident with technology, and a simple printed, step-by-step instruction guide would make the initial setup much easier and more accessible.

The waste-water tank is quite small.
Because the tank is relatively small and the machine produces waste water every time you use it, I find myself having to empty it quite frequently. It can become a little annoying, especially when using the dispenser regularly.

The hot water isn’t hot enough for black tea.
Finally, and probably most disappointingly for me, is the hot-water function. I love tea, particularly black tea, and unfortunately the water doesn’t get hot enough for my liking, even when using the highest temperature setting. For someone who drinks a lot of tea, this is a significant downside.

Overall

Despite the issues I’ve mentioned, I would still recommend this water dispenser. The biggest reason I bought it was to have better-tasting, filtered water at home, and it definitely delivers on that.

However, considering the price I paid, I expected a little more in terms of the overall experience and some of the features I’ve mentioned above. In particular, I think the initial setup instructions and hot-water temperature could be improved.

For those reasons, I’m giving the Skuma reverse osmosis water dispenser 4 out of 5 stars. I’m still happy with my purchase, but there is definitely room for improvement.

Reverse osmosis is essential in every kitchen. I researched the best quality and Skuma was up there. Over been a happy customer for two years knowing that my drinking water is safe for myself and my children. The customer service two years on is still unbeatable.

I've had this water filter for two years, and I am so happy with it.

We just got our Skuma yesterday and love it straight away. The hot water dispenser is the stand out feature. Absolutely love that we don't need to use a kettle and water filter seperately. 10/10 recommend.

Great system, easy set up. I did watch the video as I couldn't twist the filter in but found the tool after it had already been done lol. The machine is easy to use, very intuitive and there's plenty of info online if help is needed. The water tastes better than any of the filters we've used, and we've used them all!

Fantastic company and great products

First and foremost I don’t like leaving bad reviews for brands, however, the experience I have had with Skuma leaves a lot to be desired.

I was extremely excited to receive the Skuma water filtration and dispensing system, especially since my wife and I are trying to be as healthy as possible and improve our health (so it’s important for us to avoid any possible PFAS and plastic exposure where-ever possible).
Having read how poor our drinking water is with PFAS and plastic contamination I was highly excited to receive and use the Skuma unit. I saw at least 2 social media posts on the Skuma instagram page stating that post filtration the filtered water doesn't come in contact with any plastic. This lead me to believe this Skuma unit would be perfect for our health needs and it confirmed in my mind this was the product for us.
However, I have since found out that the filtered water does indeed come into contact with plastic post filtration as it sits in a 1.5l plastic tank.
I frankly feel like I have been lied to and mis-sold this product as it is no longer fit for purpose nor is it the product I believed I was buying when I placed the order.
Skuma have since described that the plastic tank is made using food-grade ABS, but in reality there is no such thing as “food-grade “(even if certified food-grade), as over time the ABS plastic will degrade, will then release micro plastics and thus degrade the filtered water and become a health problem (if it isn't already leaching into the water that is already being filtered by the unit from the start).
To say the Skuma unit is made to help peoples health and filter water to make it better for us (which is their main selling point) and then store the water in a plastic tank until it’s used made me so surprised and disappointed. Then they also make it hard to find out what this tank is actually made from.

Under the Consumer Rights act (2015) I have asked to return the device to Skuma and have a full refund.
I am within my rights to request this on 2 standards from the above act: 1- product must be fit for purpose 2- product must be as described. Skuma know these standards have not been met by the product. It having a plastic storage tank for filtered water is not fit for purpose and the product is not as described; as according to their social media; water post filtration does not come into contact with any plastic.
I have other issues with the Skuma unit: for the price the overall feel and build quality is quite poor.
The units buttons will sometimes activate and dispense water without me even pressing them.
I had a look under the top cover (its only held on by 5 or so tiny screws) and the quality of wiring is poor. I am by no means an electrician, however when 2 wires taped together with a minuscule amount of tape can be separated by the slightest touch I can assume this filtration unit isn’t built to last.
I also have concerns that the main water tank where the water is held before being filtered has a seam running all the way up (near one of the corners); looks like it also won’t last. I doubt it would survive a drop. I also think this tank would benefit from a handle as when it is full it becomes quite awkward to carry and I think those with lower dexterity could struggle.
The re-mineralisation sachets do not last as stated (on one part of the website states 2 sachets per month, another part suggests 1 every 10 days). But in reality you will be lucky if it does either (I’m pretty sure another review also states this). Sometimes the Skuma unit doesn’t even recognise the remineralisation unit is there either. So some water maybe remineralised and the other not.

I sincerely hoped this issue could be remedied without the need for it to progress further (like leaving this poor review), however, the only response I get from Skuma is about booking in a call. A call the discuss my worries. I actually just want to return the item. I have referred this all to trading standards as I am getting absolutely nowhere with Skuma.
So, until Skuma improves the design of this unit and they improve their customer service; don’t make the same mistake I did! If you do still decide to buy this product at least you have an extremely honest review.

I have followed the video regarding the set up and flashing to start. However why the taste seems a bit off (plastic taste) of the water. Is there something I missed?

Absolutely amazing. Shipping was quick and the system only took half an hour to set up. Water tastes great. Couldn’t recommend this enough

The product is very efficient, the water taste is lovely, the minerals are a well recieved addition and make the water taste even better. I love the different temperatures of water, making my wife a herbal tea now is so much quicker with the added benefit of mineralised water instead of boiled filtered.

I think this water filter is great. A few points which I’m not keen on is emptying the waste water is a lot. And the hot temperature isn’t hot enough to make a cuppa tea.

I have never had any issues with skuma. The product or the customer service. I love the water I get & the team have always been extremely helpful. I had a recent small issue with a part & this was resolved & sent out to me within 2 days. At no cost to myself. Particular mention to Ashwin for the help. Thank you guys

I recently received the Skuma water filter and have been using it for the past two to three days. With your system offering three mineral additives: soft water, mineral-plus (a more concentrated version), and alkaline, I can't really give my thoughts until I've tried them all, as there was only 2 mineral viles to insert. So far, I’ve only tried the mineral-plus additive, and I haven’t decided which I prefer yet, but I’ll update my review once I test them all. I’ve been storing the water in the bottles provided in the fridge since I prefer it cold, though I do enjoy the hot water feature. I love the look of the machine, but I think it could use some adjustments. The wastewater tank is a bit tricky to remove, especially with my arthritis, and how often you need to empty it living in a hard water city in Manchester. Also, the metal insert for the drip tray doesn’t fit properly, as is too large for the plastic tray? . I can provide photos and order numbers if needed. I did choose this system for both my own health, but also including my new rescue puppy's hydration, who arrives tomorrow. I had initially considered the Selene water fountain for my new puppy, but the Skuma system offered more flexibility and quality. Since I live in a hard water area in Manchester, I didn’t realize how much waste water this would generate, and I find myself emptying it more often than initially expected. I can clearly see a high concentration of minerals in the wastewater thats removed, so I plan to repurpose this for my plants or even in a jug for the toilet to avoid wasting it. Overall, I do hope to try the soft water and Alkaline additive soon.
I also included the extra free Filter code, but only 1 was sent in the complete set, even though you included it in the original invoice?
Once these issues are resolved, I’m confident this will greatly benefit both my health and my dog’s, and I’d be happy to raise my rating if those tweaks are made.
