I don't write negative reviews - but I feel compelled to write. I have been with Shurguard for a few years. I left previously because it just became too expensive. Tim was great and said if I came back he would see what he could do. Came back 6 months later he did help me. 6 months in I get a 20% increase - this is absolutely unacceptable - it is clear they do not want long term customers - they came back dropped it to 10% Iamnow getting letters that I own them 😳… they would not guarantee that I would not have another increase in 6 months… they say it's reflation😳 really.. Absolutely shocking.. Be warned... Not a happy camper at all… I am leaving...

Finally got rid of this scam company. After 2.5 years the price went up from £119/mo to almost £200/mo. When I cancelled my agreement they made some (incorrect) excuse about invoice dates to say I had to cancel at the end of the month (24 days notice) rather than with the 15 days contractual notice, so they scammed me out of another £57 in the end. Terrible company, will never use or recommend them again.

Edit 13 April 2026: I see they have replied. Maybe if they bothered to comply with their own terms and conditions (which I have read in great detail) they wouldn’t have scammed me and wasted nearly £60 when I didn’t want to argue the toss with them after lugging around furniture for hours in the middle of a stressful house move. The contractual notice is 15 days, they scammed me and claimed I had to wait until the end of the month. There was no misunderstanding on my part, and I don’t see why they decided to respond so rudely as if I can't read. If they read my review well they could infer that the contract I have was agreed in 2023, at which time neither the contract nor their website stated that notice needed to align in some way with the contract period - it was a simple 15 days notice that can be given at any time. I know what I agreed to, and the shurgard staff should do better. I will be recovering the money owed to me.

Edit 27 April 2026: After arguing about the T&Cs yet again and having to threaten court action I have finally received a refund for the overpayment.

Booking and payment with Shurgard were quick and easy. I wasn’t able to move in straight away as they were getting the storage unit ready, but I could move in the next day. Getting my keys was straightforward and the staff were very helpful and friendly throughout. Overall a smooth and easy experience.

The online process to rent a unit was super easy! We needed a space quickly and we were able to get it immediately. Catherine the associate at the Deptford location was amazing and helped explain how to get in and out of the very secure facility. She was GREAT! I would absolutely recommend using Shurgard to friends.

Clear instructions and easy to use. Trolleys and lifts available to move big, heavy objects and the storage calculator on the website was very useful for finding out how big a storage unit I needed

So easy to store with this site. Tim was,so helpfu and friendly l with moving in. He made sure that I knew how to find my unit and that I had the required information.

Your alarm system has been beeping non-stop for over 20 hours — yes, 20 hours — including all through the night. It wasn’t just background noise. It was a loud, sharp, high-pitched beeping that echoed through the entire neighbourhood.

This is not the first time this has happened — but this time, it went beyond unacceptable. You’ve ignored complaints before, and clearly learned nothing.
There was no emergency number, no contact, no one taking responsibility.

I’m writing this review at 5:30 in the morning, still awake, completely exhausted and anxious — because of your alarm.
Do you understand what it means for a person to be exposed to that kind of noise for that long?
It affects the nervous system. It triggers anxiety, stress, panic, and physical fatigue.

You didn’t just disturb people.
You harmed them.

I called the council. I tried everything. No one could help because you made it impossible to reach anyone.
You left the neighbourhood to suffer, in complete silence from your side.

Let me be very clear:
I will be taking every legal action available.
I will contact Lewisham Council, and I promise I will do everything I can to hold you accountable.

You don’t deserve to operate in Deptford.
You don’t deserve to be this close to a residential area.

If you’re going to ignore your own alarm system, ignore the health and wellbeing of the people who live near your site, and keep disturbing an entire community like this — then you should not be allowed to stay here.

The app worked this time and I could actually access the facilities out of hours.

App was not working in order to access the storage unit. took us 10 attempts to get in.
Apart from that everything was ok. space was huge and clean.

Straight forward and easy.

The customer service administrator Badnum, was really helpful. He made sure we achieved our chosen date to rent our space. So he was reliable and we had confidence in him. Very polite and respectful guy.

Every member of the team I spoke with was incredibly helpful. The support I was offered was top notch.

Easy to book online and set up a payment plan. Very reasonable costs in comparison to competitors. Easy acces to Unit; but beware be out before the 9pm closure or exit denied!
