Amazingly informative training for visual communication

Insightful workshop on scicomm with genuinely useful practical tips and complimentary theory on the basics of effective communication and slide design. Loads of real-world examples and image makeovers help you to really grasp the difference between a well-made, clear image and one that might use some ameliorations - helpful to put the theory into practice.

I learned new methods like AAZ framework which makes it very easy to decide which material should we add in our images based on the target audience. Also, other techniques and tricks disccused in the course developed the sense of creating a proper flow of a concept. I also realized how minor things like color scheme, which we usually ignore, have great impact. The websites for checking color combinations for color blindness were completely new for me. I must say that it was an amazing course.

Absolutely a great workshop! It took the whole day, but it was easy to follow and captured my attention. Also I learned how to think about dataviz in general.

The training gave you good examples and tools to create visuals and communicate effectively. Jernej was very enthousiastic, clear, and he gave good feedback on your figures and slides. The training was valuable and I would recommend this for all scientists, researchers and PhD students.

This is one of the best courses I ever attended. I enjoyed a plethora of practical and applicable knowledge, supplemented with great examples. I consider this course to be of great importance because no matter how good of a scientist you are, it will be futile if you cannot present and understandably communicate your science. I really liked how the course was structured. The online courses were useful but even more the online workshop where you gave us direct tips on our slides and work.
To me it would be even greater if you can show us more examples where you show a "bad" slide and a following good one

The course was really interesting and of great value of knowledge about the use of visual communication to explain the science I am doing, based on criteria and explained with illustrative examples. Furthermore, the presenter's way of leading the course was excellent, the way he spoke clearly, concisely and with good tone and volume, made the transmission of ideas and messages possible.

I really enjoyed the one-on-one consulting in the last online seminar. It was well structured and working with examples from participants made it easy to learn about visualization. But the video workshop is very time consuming. I think it would have been good if the total time needed to watch the videos was highlighted in the registration email. Also, a handout summarizing the key messages from each video would be very helpful. This would make it easier to search for keywords to refresh certain theories.

Jernej creates a perfect online learning experience. His methods on how to create/present figures & slides can be applied immediately. His feedback is straightforward and very helpful.

If you have the opportunity to assist in the course, you will be amazed at how many little details can enhance the visualization of your research story and how others will understand it.
