My favourite apps all in one subscription

I’ve been using Setapp since 2018, and it has become a standard part of my Mac setup.
There’s a great range of apps available, with new additions appearing regularly. I’m aware that the subscription model has evolved and that some apps have left the platform over time; however, the overall value still makes it worthwhile.
Support has been responsive and genuinely helpful, which is not always common today.
Thank you for a consistently solid product.

Great value, great service!

I‘m using Setapp for about 5 years now on a MacBook Air, having 15 applications activated. Great value!
I now installed it on my new MacBook Mini, having issues to activate Setapp. The Helpdesk was able to provide the right fix immediately (it was a macOS problem). Everything works fine now.
I can only recommend Setapp and it‘s service team!

The customer support is always fast to service

The customer support is always fast to be at service. I have been using Setapp for 4 years now, and I have only run into problems, or in my case, questions that I have always been getting quick answers to.

Where a Well-Designed App Ecosystem Meets Daily Work

I have been using Setapp for several years now and can honestly say that I am very satisfied.

While I do not use every app included, the ones I do use have become indispensable to my daily workflow. Whenever I have questions or run into issues, the support team is highly responsive and genuinely committed to finding solutions.

If Setapp includes apps you need, it is definitely worth taking a closer look.

One improvement I would love to see is a more active and structured forum where users can suggest new apps and vote on requests. I find the current Facebook-based solution rather difficult to navigate and somewhat unclear.

Useful tools for everyday work

My experience with Setapp has been positive because it gives easy access to useful apps that help me work more efficiently. Having everything in one place simplifies my workflow and saves time.

Amazing Value. Excellent Support. Fantastic Design. Superb Selection. Four for FOUR.

I would posit that Setapp provides excellent value for cost. Excellent. As in, Wow; I used to spend five times as much for the standalone versions of my stable of certain third-party macOS apps and utilities on an annual basis. You mean…I don’t have to do this anymore? Hell YES.

• The review complaining about limited selection is mystifying. 260+ apps = extraordinary. IDK what they expected… Acrobat, Office and Roblox bundled in there, too? Get real. The licensing arrangements (and fees!) for every title that isn’t under the main corporate umbrella must be gigantic. Did you consider this, sourpuss?

The customer support that was experienced was top-notch, full stop. I’ve toiled in that industry sector for a Fortune 10 company—one of the most well-known Silicon Valley titans in existence. I recognize excellence when I see it.

• The rep with whom I worked was remarkably responsive, exceedingly professional, warm & personable, and very expeditious. They worked with this reviewer at warp speed to offer a bundle with pricing best suited to fit my situation and device arrangement. So I don’t know what the heck some others are griping about. Perhaps check for your incoming CS response emails a touch more thoroughly? Lower your unreasonable demands? 🤔

Look; we all have a negativity bias. It’s therefore far too easy — from an evolutionary biology and survival perspective — to jump to snap judgments and swiftly rush to isolate and then gripe about all that is believed to be wrong with or inadequate about a given arrangement or circumstance. Too often—because speed was historically prioritized over thoughtful deliberation—our minds (still) unfairly distort perceived flaws and risks, which is the fault of this leftover survival instinct that no longer serves us nearly as well as it did long ago.

It would appear that many reviews posted here and elsewhere on TP are the result of this reflexive confirmation bias of distorted negative perceptions. They lack nuance, discernment, and acknowledgement of all of the positives and beneficial aspects. Even the neutral stuff is overlooked, in a disingenuous effort to amplify the criticism.

In other words, it’s knee-jerk, lazy thinking—if it’s even “thinking” at all. It’s long past time to ditch the caveman mentality, folks. Let’s try to be fairer in our assessments and a bit more realistic about the practical constraints and challenges of being a software professional in this day and age—especially while struggling to keep calm and carry on in a beleaguered, war-ravaged country under unceasing attack. ☮️

Great customer support!

SetApp is a collection of apps, and if you buy apps individually, they can cost more than with the SetApp subscription, depending on how many you use. I'm a SetApp subscriber since launch and have never had any issues with the support team or the app itself.

What was once a great collection of apps is now a dumpster fire.

Having been a customer of Setapp since their infancy I'm actually quite appalled at how BAD their customer service has become. One of the first things to realize is that it's a service offered by MacPaw - and they include many of their own products in the monthly bundle. This would be fine if those products WORKED. What would also be fine is if you contacted customer service and they assisted you with the issue you're having - but that isn't the case.

Setapp also continues to lose apps that are "higher value" and make the subscription worthwhile. When speaking to some of these developers, I'm finding that MacPaw treats THEM poorly well.

It's really annoying to PAY MONTHLY for a subscription that includes broken apps - or apps you'll never see again - and then have to FIGHT their customer support people for assistance.

Even more interesting is if you leave a rating for apps (which they ASK you to do) and it's even remotely critical of a MacPaw app they WILL censor you and delete the review. It's honestly a VERY tacky look all around.

Until MacPaw gets it together, I'd avoid SetApp like the plague.

My proudest subscription

I've been using Setapp for many years, it's simply great to have one subscription for all my software (learn that, stupid streaming industry). And their support is super kind, they helped me set up my student account via email tickets and were very friendly. 11/10 would recommend to any one who uses one of the apps included in the pack. I've also discovered new apps I didn't know I needed so bad (PullTube and AirBuddy).

Product is useful

UPDATE
After providing this poor review, setapp reached out and resolved the billing issues i was having. As mentioned in the original post, I never had any issues with their product and, now that the billing has been resolved, i will re-instate my use.

As a long time user of setapp, I'm incredinbly disappointed to say I don't use it anymore after they started billing me incorrectly. I tried to gett his resolved but they simply stopped responding to my emails. So all I could do was block them on my card and stop using the product. I can only assume the business is in trouble and they are just trying to grab money from wherever they can. Even reached out to their CEO on linkedin but no response.

Not sure why you can’t find previous correspondence- just take a look in your support system. Zendesk is what you use and the support case number was 1927839

They responded saying I closed the ticket - thats simply not true - your team just stopped responding after i replied with all the details asked for - after waiting for a number of weeksfor a response I cancelled what i could and have blocked my card from setapp.

Long time fan, first support case

I'm a long-time user of Setapp, but I hadn't had a reason to contact support (a reflection of a good product). However, I had a VAT-related issue which Paddle (their Merchant of Record) wasn't able to handle. Anka at Setapp was very helpful and quickly resolved the problem for me without a fuss. I'm facing a similar issue with Google, you might imagine how that is going... Small is beautiful, which in Setapps' case translates into friendly and efficient support on the rare occasion when you need it.
