SeasideHomes withholds deposits for pre-existing problems
Our experience with SeasideHomes was bad. Over 2025 we rented 3 short-term properties through Barbara Zarco Gonzalez and Laura Scioratto Morales and their company SeasideHomes.es
I am sharing this to help others stay informed about their rights as tenants.
As per Catalan law, landlords and agencies are required to register and lodge security deposits (fianzas) with INCASÒL (the Catalan Land Institute). Following my rentals with Seaside Homes, I formally requested the official INCASÒL certificates to prove that my deposits had been properly lodged with the government. To date, Seaside Homes has failed to provide this proof and has withheld the requested information regarding the status of the funds.
Furthermore, they have withheld over €400 from my deposit, citing dirt and the poor state of the apartment. However, these were pre-existing conditions that we explicitly informed them of when we initially moved in. This included a couch which was dirty and stank of urine when we moved in, mold on the walls, rats in the roof and in the terrace, faulty and leaking air-conditioners.
Additionally, one apartment had a significant mold issue. When we reported this and asked for their help to remediate it, they took no action, resulting in potentially hazardous living conditions during our stay.
We have been trying to recover our deposit from them for over 6 months and they have now resorted to complete silence and ignoring any of our requests.
I am sharing this strictly as a factual account of my experience. If you are currently renting or planning to rent through them, I highly recommend documenting the exact condition of the property upon arrival with photos, and asking for your INCASÒL deposit certificate the moment you hand over your security deposit to ensure your funds are protected.
