Excellent experience and fully recommend

Excellent experience with Schmidt Global Relocations. I relocated from Italy to the Netherlands and used their transportation and storage services. Their prices were very competitive, and the customer service was outstanding.

Caroline and Sylvia managed my case from start to finish with professionalism and prompt responsiveness. The team who collected and delivered the boxes were also friendly and professional. My shipment arrived safely at its final destination.

Be very careful when engaging

Be very careful when engaging for international relocation.

In my case (Germany → international move), the shipment volume and associated charges became disputed after pickup. The volume was increased by about 5 cubic meters compared to what was indicated earlier, without a clear and independently verifiable basis. The documentation provided did not offer clarity, and requests for independent verification were not accommodated.

When these discrepancies were raised, there were also attempts to reallocate or shift costs across different line items, making it difficult to clearly understand the basis of the charges.

As a result, the shipment has not proceeded and my household goods have remained for several months in the warehouse of Schmidt Global Relocations in the Netherlands.

While the goods remain physically in their warehouse, I have been repeatedly directed to resolve the matter elsewhere, without any clear or workable path to completing the shipment.

Despite ongoing communication, invoices and storage charges continue to be issued in parallel, without resolution.

This has led to practical difficulties and additional costs, including having to purchase essential household items again.

I would strongly advise others to ensure full clarity on volume measurement, documentation, and dispute handling before committing.

Thank you for your response.

It is not accurate to suggest a lack of cooperation from my side. I have responded consistently and in detail throughout, and have repeatedly sought a clear and verifiable basis for the revised volume and charges, which has not been provided to date, nor has an opportunity been given for independent verification.

At no point has a practical solution been proposed to move the shipment forward. The position has remained that payment must be made against disputed invoices, without addressing the underlying issues.

At the same time, my household goods continue to remain in your warehouse in the Netherlands for several months.

Characterising this situation as a lack of cooperation from my side, while no workable solution has been offered, independent verification has not been accommodated, and the goods continue to remain in storage, is difficult to reconcile.

The review reflects this experience and the current status.

We wish to take this opportunity to clarify a few points. Your shipment is on hold from your origin agent, Schmidt Global has no control on the on hold status and acts on instructions from your agent. As long as your invoices remain in dispute, the shipment will remain on hold.

We have tried numerous times to assist with the situation with your agent but there has been a lack of cooperation from your side.

Thus we request you to please try to resolve this with your origin agent. Once we receive their instructions that your dispute has been resolved, the shipment can be shipped.

Extremely unprofessional communication

Extremely unprofessional communication. I initially contacted Schmidt Global Relocations online for a quote, which I received. They then asked to schedule a follow-up call, so I provided my availability. They ignored it and never reached out.

I ended up having to call them myself, while on the phone, they promised they would update me within 1-2 days. I never heard a single word from them again. Ghosting a potential customer who is trying to plan a move is totally unacceptable. If this is how they handle basic scheduling and communication, I definitely wouldn't trust them with my belongings. Save yourself the headache and go with a company that actually follows through

At the time the review was posted, our team was still in the process of confirming these details. We did not receive a follow up email from you, nor did you express to us directly that you felt that we were taking too long with your enquiry.

Because we had not yet provided a service and were still actively working on your request, we do feel that a one-star review may not reflect the situation fairly.

A Day That Never Delivered

Move number: 2521643

The initial sales contact, price quoted and relocation manager were all good - no complaints there. The price was the lowest of all quotes I received. However, when the agreed removal day arrived, things changed.

From around the agreed morning pick-up time there was a no-show and no contact from the pick-up truck. I had to inform the relocation manager who was unaware of the delay. After a while, the relocation manager responded that the truck has broken down. Subsequent promised times were still met with no-shows, despite that I informed that I had personal family commitments the evening and that the storage facility where my goods were waiting would eventually close for the night.

The truck driver finally made first contact with me at 19:15 the evening (!), not yet even at the collection premises but that the truck was fixed and "on the way" after the "oil had to be checked/changed". I was not given an explanation why this could not have been scheduled earlier. I informed that it was getting too late considering the rush hour traffic, snow, multiple pick-up locations, volume of goods to be packed, storage facility closing, personal commitments - so the driver offered to come the next morning early and try again to which I agreed. However, at 19:30 the head of the planning department contacted me and informed that the truck driver was not allowed to commit to the next morning because the truck had to leave the next morning early and head to port to get the other customers' goods on the ship, and again proposed to proceed with the collection the same evening - I repeated that, to still collect from multiple locations plus finish wrapping & packing late on a snowy evening with a disabled and weary customer to oversee the packing whilst foregoing family commitments as earlier communicated, is not a reasonable expectation.

We then mutually tried to find another date, but I clearly stated that it might not be possible but I was willing to try, but in the days left until I had to fly out to the destination country on a non-refundable ticket, no alternative mutually suitable date was found. As a result I informed Schmidt that the contract was to be terminated based on non-performance by fault of their own. Eventually they interpreted this as a customer cancellation and despite a legal concept called "waiver by indulgence" meaning the original agreed date of performance remained binding, refunded me only part of the paid fees by subtracting a "cancellation fee" due to "costs incurred".

I believe the contract became impossible to perform because the mover failed to perform on the agreed date - late the evening of the agreed date does not constitute a reasonable fulfilment - and thereby cannot justify subtracting its own costs from the refund. Alternative dates attempted were merely a concession, acted out in good faith. As it played out with the mover retaining part of the fees paid, they covered their own costs but myself as the customer did not have my goods removed, and minus a part of the refund. This left me as the customer at a disadvantage, while the mover is left with a net zero outcome. As the situation was not of my own fault, I believe this is unfair.

Upon objecting I received no response. As a result I have lodged the case at the relevant authority; in the meantime I have still received no response and no reprise from Schmidt with regards to refunding me the rest of my fees they withheld.

My subjective recommendations:
Improve communication between the transport team directly and the customer.
Ensure availability of one back-up date for collection.
Ensure accurate distinction between "customer cancellation" and "termination due to own fault", and the resulting implications on a refund.

However, we sincerely regret the disruption that occurred on the scheduled collection day. Unfortunately, the vehicle assigned to the collection experienced an unexpected mechanical issue, which resulted in delays outside of our direct control. We understand that this situation was frustrating, particularly given your time constraints and travel plans. But unfortunately we have no control over unforseen problems and this can unfortunately happen in the groupage transport option you booked.

Our team remained in contact throughout the day and attempted to provide alternative options once the issue became clear, including proceeding with the collection later that evening or arranging another date. As you mentioned, due to your upcoming travel schedule, we were unable to find a mutually suitable alternative date before your departure.

Regarding the refund, the cancellation conditions applied were those outlined in the quotation and terms and conditions that were provided and agreed to at the time of booking. These conditions specify the applicable cancellation fees when services are cancelled after operational planning and resources have already been allocated. Our policies are designed to comply with applicable EU consumer regulations and industry standards.

I trust that this clarifies the matter. Should you wish to reschedule at a more suitable time and continue, we would like to hear from you.

We ask you to kindly reach out to your move manager should you have any further concerns, but our cancellation policy remains applicable.

Wat mis kon gaan ging ook mis

Wat mis kon gaan ging ook mis. Ten eerste de betaling die vooraf geheel betaald moest zijn. Ons geld zat in het huis en na uitleg mochten we het in 2 keer betalen. Helft met inladen, andere helft dag voor het uitladen. Klonk goed, dus niets aan de hand. Elke 2 dagen kregen we een mail dat we alles moesten betalen. Weer bellen dat we een regeling hebben en Oke niets van aantrekken. Op de dag van ophalen kregen we een mail met daarin de eis dat we meteen alles moeten betalen, zo niet dan zouden er annuleringskosten bij bovenop komen. Uiteindelijk maar een extra lening aangegaan voor 5 dagen, want dan zouden we het geld van ons huis op de bank hebben staan. We hebben een pittige mail gestuurd naar het bedrijf, maar de dame die anders meteen terug mailde liet niets meer van zich horen.
De mannen die moesten inpakken deden goed hun best. Ze waren met 4 en 1 was die ochtend door de rug gegaan en viel uit. Zelf ook maar wat meegeholpen. Het transport zou eerst om 09:00 uur komen, dat werd later 13:00 uur, maar niemand. Om 13:30 kwam er 1 om alvast de spullen naar beneden te brengen. Twee uur later kwamen de anderen. Halverwege de avond waren ze klaar en konden wij opruimen. Met de levering hadden we aangegeven dat we maar 1 route hadden voor de vrachtwagen. Natuurlijk zagen we ze vast staan op een brug waar ze niet over konden. De 2 knapen begrepen niet waar ze heen moesten, dus hebben we een buurman gevraagd met ons mee te rijden naar de vrachtwagen. Het stormde die dag en de regen kwam met grote buien over ons heen. Ze waren met 2 personen. Deden vreselijk hun best in de stromende regen. De ene had zijn knie al stukgevallen op de laadplank. De ander kreeg een zware plank op het hoofd door de wind. Hun baas belde steeds dat ze moesten opschieten. De dozen waren zwaar en het waren veel dozen die naar boven moesten. De mannen waren drijfnat en we hebben ze verplicht om even te stoppen en wat koffie te drinken. Ze namen de tijd niet. 3 min en weer door... Ze waren al uren bezig en wij zijn maar gaan helpen, want er kwamen niet meer mannen om hen te helpen. En weer belde de baas, want ze moesten door.
Mijn man heeft zich een breuk gesjouwd en op het laatst met 2 grote zware dingen hebben we de buren er zelfs bij gevraagd om te helpen. Hoe bestaat het dat als ze met inladen al 4 man nodig hebben om in 6 uur alles in de vrachtwagen te krijgen, dat ze het met uitpakken denken dat kunnen 2 personen doen in 3 uur? Mijn man heeft een week niets kunnen doen. Misschien eigen schuld, we hadden betaald om het te laten doen. Maar dan nog..... Ik vind dit erg kwalijk.

Wat betreft het aantal personen, ze kwamen al met 4 en op dat moment was niet duidelijk dat het meer was. Dus in Spanje was het bekend dat het veel was en zwaar. Wij betalen om zelf niet te zeulen met alles en dan ook nog meerdere keren tegen de mannen per telefoon zeggen dat ze moeten opschieten. Het was zeer slecht weer. De jongens klaagden niet, maar dit is niet werken volgens de regels.
De laatste mail was geschreven door de manager. Als we niet meteen betaalden dan kwamen er annuleringskosten bovenop. Het was een dreigende mail!

Dank u voor uw review. Het spijt ons dat u de verhuizing als stressvol heeft ervaren.

Wij hanteren standaard volledige betaling vooraf. In uw geval is een uitzondering gemaakt met betaling in twee termijnen, waarbij het volledige bedrag alsnog vóór aanvang van de verhuizing voldaan diende te zijn. De herinneringen die u ontving waren automatisch gegenereerd.

Tijdens het laden bleek het volume groter dan vooraf opgegeven, waardoor extra inzet nodig was moest er sneller gewerkt worden om alles binnen de geplande tijd mee te kunnen nemen. Standaard leveren wij met twee verhuizers bij het lossen.

Wij waarderen dat u benoemt dat onze medewerkers hard hebben gewerkt. Uw feedback nemen wij intern mee.

Moving Australia to France

Moving Australia to France, They stole expensive items into my bags and personnal boxes. The shipment also arrived late.

Move from Australia to France

Schmidt Global supervised my move from Australia to France in partnership with an Australian company. I am very satisfied with the entire process. Although the waiting time was longer than I expected (4 months in total), I had a very good experience and only dealt with friendly, helpful, and efficient people from all parties. No additional or hidden fees, which was my main concern.
I compared my expenses with friends' who had chosen a different company for the same move with no door to door service, own drop off and pick up and extra customs fees upon arrival. I had none of these issues and once all costs were added up, the total prices were pretty much the same.
All my possessions, which included a large painting and some very fragile glass and china items were retrieved intact and clean. Even my clothes barely needed airing despite months in containers and warehouses. A special thanks to move managers Jennay and Valeria.

I wish 0 stars could be an option. 100% do not use this company. I should have read the reviews more. We used to use this company for work for relocations but we will no longer.

It’s been 4 weeks since they packed our stuff and it has still not left the origin country for the new country. And they provide NO customer service with simply saying they have no control and can do nothing.

Atlas and Gosselin are way better options. I regret my choice so badly. 😭

Update: it’s been 9.5 weeks now and we STILL don’t have our stuff. After the freight forwarder they chose went bankrupt, the order was cancelled and they had to submit a new order to the shipping line. Now 1.5 hours prior to delivery, the delivery was cancelled and we are being told we have to wait another 6 days. The partners this company chooses to work with are awful and unprofessional. And the lack of communication is truly frustrating. The shipment tracker I paid for hasn’t even been updated in more than a month. I was promised our delivery would be expedited and prioritized and it’s clear that is not happening everything. And it is near impossible to contact Annisa, our move manager. I can’t even fathom providing 1/8th of the service to my people relocating as they have to me. It’s as if they’ve never relocated anyone before.

Double and Triple check EVERYTHING...!

Initially, the contact was good. • However, I only had 2 m3 to ship and was informed that there was a minimum amount of 5 m3. • I was about to find another shipper when the original contact reverted to me with a reasonable price for the 2 m3 intended. • I double checked that the proposed dimensions of the crate were acceptable: both to SCHMIDT and – via them – to the Thai shipping agent – and was assured that it was. • I spent quite a few hours providing accurate Google-based maps of both the final destination – with GPS coordinates – and showing three different "zoom" spreads – Wide, Medium, Close – with the track to follow, road names, telephone numbers and even road access limitations, with timings etc. • No issues there: I prefer to be 100% accurate from my end. • On the promised day of arrival – texted for 09.00 > to 11.00 – and having hired a heavy-duty forklift for half a day with warehouse storage, at the given time there was an absolute 'No Show' – and NO connection from the Driver. • Had I not called the offices in Netherlands – from France – I would never have known WHAT was causing the delay. • As it was – after a series of phone calls between my connection Agent and her Logistics Department, the net result was a rescheduled delivery for 09.00 the next day. • RE-hire of Forklift truck for another half day (on top of the now whole day for which I was being charged by my supplier.) • Time of promised arrival was again delayed – until 11.30 am. • The Driver(s) – despite having been supposedly given ALL of the collected address information – STILL needed me to resend them the coordinates and maps. • My experience of Dutch people is that they are generally punctilious and efficient: this experience proved that this is not always the case. • In fairness – granted – there was a mess-up by the Drivers who didn't get all their ducks in a row. • OK – understandable. • However, THEIR mistake cost me almost €400/- and when I suggested that I should be compensated by the company insuring my Crate to the equivalent value, they 'slithered' out of the issue by offering me only the minimal degree of insurance as compensation. • Everyone can 'have a bad day' and be beset by unfavorable circumstances. • HOWEVER – an ETHICAL company would want to 'make things right' with their client – not use 'sleight of hand' to wriggle out of carrying the responsibility for what was in this case, entirely THEIR fault. • Summary: Could I recommend this company...? • I will be happy to re-edit this commentary WHEN and IF I receive my crate in Bangkok within the promised time frame. • In the meantime: CAVEAT EMPTOR. • Do EVERYTHING you can to meticulously record – factually, on paper and photographically – EVERY interaction you have with this company. • The chances are you'll be OK: but in case an 'icky' occurs, better to be fully covered and backed-up by irrefutable evidence: because a company whose professional ethics are so able to sideline their Customer Service responsibilities in exchange for maintaining the sanctity of the bottom line, is one that needs to be most assiduously monitored.

12.11.2025. ● UPDATE: Despite the effort at showing 'goodwill' below, one month later and I STILL neither have a confirmed DEPARTURE date for my shipment NOR any further contact from the company. I would opine that following both the above report and their response, it should be up to SCHMIDT to contact ME with any compensatory proposals: not the other way around. Good Customer Service is PROACTIVE - NOT 'reactive' - as per the suggestion below. However - I'm not holding my breath. I'll be happy to amend this report if there is EVER a satisfactory outcome.

Very disorganised and the service Very…

Very disorganised and the service Very poor. There was minor damages on a table that they assembled but insisted that I signed that everything was delivered and fine .I took photos of the damage and took it up with the agent who passed on the responsibility to the original agent in Dubai. They also messed up my desk did not assemble it correctly so I had to buy a new one .overall experience Very unprofessional and unreliable would not recommend them if anything goes wrong they will not take responsibility.

I can’t even begin to describe how angry I am about this company. After moving back from the Netherlands, I chose them because they promised fast air shipping and a stress-free experience. What I got was a disaster. My shipment showed up nearly a month late — nowhere near the delivery date they guaranteed.
Then came the real insult: they claimed my goods were almost twice the volume I’d originally shipped overseas. All they offered as “proof” was a photo of two pallets wrapped in black plastic so I couldn’t verify a thing, and they refused to release my belongings until I paid nearly double the original amount.
When everything finally arrived in the U.S., I measured each box myself. The total volume was about half of what they charged me for — and several boxes were completely empty, clearly there just to bump up their numbers. Even the packing crew hinted that the office often exaggerates the volume and told me I should demand evidence if it looked off. I wish I’d listened.
This isn’t just bad service — it’s a scam. Don’t be fooled by the glowing 5-star reviews; they don’t reflect reality. If you value your money, your belongings, or your sanity, stay far, far away from this company. I
