I had a very disappointing experience with Scents Angel.

I ordered several 5 ml perfume including:
• Marc-Antoine Barrois Ganymede Extrait de Parfum
• Initio Absolute Aphrodisiac Eau de Parfum
• Le Labo Santal 33 Eau de Parfum
• Olfactive Studio Flash Back Eau de Parfum

The issue is what I believe is a serious deception of the customer.

I work with scents myself and create fragrances, so I understand very well that perfumes can vary slightly due to batch differences, reformulations, or storage conditions. But what I received was not a small variation. These samples smelled fundamentally wrong - to the point that they did not resemble the authentic fragrances in any meaningful way. The structure, character, balance, and even the recognizable identity of the perfumes were simply not there.

What I received smelled like cheap, generic liquid rather than the fragrances being advertised. Some did not even remotely reflect their known note structure.

I also have a habit when testing perfume sellers: I usually order several fragrances I want to explore, and I always include at least one fragrance I already know very well and have an authentic fragrance so I can calibrate my impression and compare quality. This time, that reference fragrance was Le Labo Santal 33 - one of the most recognizable modern classics. What I received was nowhere near Santal 33. It smelled like random decanted liquid, not the original fragrance.

That is what made the whole situation even more concerning.

Their response was to point to batch variations, reformulations, and regional differences. That explanation may account for subtle differences. It does not explain fragrances that smell completely off and lack the defining identity of the originals.

The biggest problem with this type of business is obvious: when a company sells decants instead of sealed retail bottles, the customer cannot inspect original packaging, bottle details, batch codes, print quality, or other authenticity markers. You are simply expected to trust that the liquid inside the atomizer is genuine. In my case, based on my experience and nose, that trust was not justified.

I cannot say what bottles they may or may not have behind the scenes. But I can say that what I personally received did not smell authentic to me.

Again, this is not just about the money - although that part is upsetting too (86$), especially since they already told me they would not refund me even if I sent all of the scents back for their internal investigation. They did not even seem willing to make a genuine effort to look into the issue.

I will not order from them again, and I would not recommend Scents Angel (devil?) to anyone.

I always have a great experience shoppings at ScentsAngel.com. My perfumes always come packaged well, with no issues. The free shipping is great! Also, the shipping times are pretty good. I would recommend this site to others who want to get perfume samples of some popular fragrances.

Great prices on decants! One of the best decanters out there. Most of my 10ml collection is from them. I wish they offered 20ml and 30ml is a few brands but that's just wishful thinking.

I often buy perfume samples and I use different websites. I tried ScentAngel recently and was very pleased. The pricing was fair, so that attracted me first. Then they shipped quickly and perfume quality is superb, and the packaging was really careful. Also, purely esthetics , I enjoy the look and the feel of my sample bottle, its square, sleek, has the logo on it. Adds a nice touch!

The perfume was great as was the overall service. However the sprayer was semi broken and bottle leaked when sprayer was used
