Misleading free trial and unusable app for real work

I subscribed to this app because the subscription screen clearly displayed
"Start 3-Day Free Trial", which created the expectation that I would be able to test the app before being charged.

However, the full amount of $89.99 was charged immediately.

After that I started using the app and discovered serious problems that make it unusable for its intended purpose.

Issues I experienced:

– The receipt scanner often reads incorrect amounts
Example: a receipt with total 267.93 USD was recognized as 100.97 USD

– The scanning process is slow and unreliable

– The export feature generates corrupted files with unreadable symbols

– Exported reports cannot be used for accounting or documentation

This makes the app unusable for real financial tracking.

I contacted both the developer and Apple support, but the refund was denied, even though the app does not function as advertised and the subscription screen was misleading.

For a yearly paid subscription, this is very disappointing.

I would not recommend this app, especially for paid plans.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We want to address both your billing and technical concerns directly.

Regarding the subscription charge: Our 3-day free trial is exclusively available to first-time users to test the platform. When an account has previously activated and benefited from a free trial in the past, the system automatically bypasses the trial period and initiates the standard subscription upon sign-up. This policy is standard across the App Store and is in place to prevent trial abuse.

However, regarding your technical experience, you are absolutely right to expect better performance. The 'unreadable symbols' on your export is a known CSV encoding bug when opening files in certain older spreadsheet software, and our engineering team is actively deploying a patch for it. We are also continuously upgrading our AI extraction engine to better read complex receipt layouts and improve scan speeds.

Makes tax prep effortless

I've been using Receipto for about 6 months now, mainly for scanning and organizing receipts for tax filing. The best part is that there's virtually no typing involved — I just forward my receipt emails and the AI extracts all the details automatically. It's saved me a ton of time compared to manually entering everything into spreadsheets. If you're looking for a hassle-free way to keep your receipts organized for tax season, I'd highly recommend giving Receipto a try.

Saves me so much time at tax season

Been using this for a few months now and honestly it's become one of those apps I'd miss if it disappeared. I'm self-employed so keeping track of receipts has always been a pain. Started using Receipto and it just handles everything. You scan, it reads the merchant, amount, date, currency, done.
