We had a really enjoyable rafting experience. Our guide was very friendly and gave us a clear explanation and safety briefing beforehand. The rapids along the 7-kilometre route were not particularly challenging or exciting, but it was great fun and a lovely experience.

We did feel that the price was a little on the high side for what you get, but overall we had a great time and would recommend it for a fun activity in Kitulgala.

I travelled with Rapid Adventures last weekend on a short trip from Negombo up to Kalpitiya, one night, two days and I wanted to leave a proper review, because the ground handling was genuinely well done.

Our driver and guide was Chathuranga Madurawela, and he's the reason this review exists. He picked us up on time in Negombo, and then he was on time for every single pick-up across the two days, including the early excursion transfers. That sounds like a small thing until you've been on a trip where it doesn't happen.

His vehicle was spotlessly clean, and his driving was smooth and controlled the whole way, no rushing, no sudden braking. On Sri Lankan roads and over a transfer that length, that matters far more than people realise. I actually relaxed in the car, which I don't always manage.

What I appreciated most was that he stayed with us throughout rather than dropping us off and disappearing until the next pick-up. Whenever the plan shifted, he adjusted it without any fuss at all. That flexibility is the difference between a driver and a proper guide, and Chathuranga is clearly the second.

I work in the travel industry myself, so I notice these things, punctuality, the state of the vehicle, and how someone handles a change of schedule. Rapid Adventures got all three right. If you're heading up to Kalpitiya or wherever and you want the logistics handled properly so you can concentrate on the trip itself, ask for Chathuranga.

We had an amazing day out with the family doing white water rafting and canyoning! 🌊🤩 It was so much fun from start to finish.

Medis, our guide, was very friendly, helpful, and made the activities even more enjoyable. Ramesh also did a great job supporting us and organising everything smoothly.

Able to challenge ourselves always within a safe environment. Guides/instructors were great, helpful, supportive and made sure we stayed safe but also had lots of fun. It did however, seem to take quite a long time to get through some parts of the activities due to the large group size we had.

This activity agency from Sri Lanka unfortunately spoiled a great vacation for me. I booked an activity through them and paid in advance, but when the weather turned dangerous—with heavy rain, thick fog, and slippery conditions—the agency refused to cancel or offer a reasonable refund.

I contacted them in good time to cancel or find an alternative, but they were completely inflexible. They insisted on their terms and conditions, which state that only they can cancel an activity, leaving the customer with no say whatsoever. They offered alternatives that didn't fit my itinerary at all, and when I suggested other options from their own website, they either ignored me or gave misleading information. For example, they claimed boat tours weren't available during my travel dates, yet I easily found another provider doing the same tours at the same time—so that was clearly not true.

After that, they went radio silent. No willingness to compromise, no refund, no empathy. They saved on accommodation and labor costs since their guide never had to go out, but they kept my money anyway. It cost me a lot of stress during what should have been a relaxing vacation.

I realize that if the activity goes ahead, the quality might be fine. But if anything goes wrong—like bad weather, which is common in Sri Lanka—their stubbornness and money-first attitude become painfully clear. In Europe, no reputable company would run a hike in conditions like these, and 75% of other tour operators at the site turned their customers around that day.

Bottom line: If everything goes smoothly, maybe you'll have a good time. But if you run into any problem, don't expect them to be customer-oriented, flexible, or honest. I'm now out of pocket and left with a bad taste from what should have been a wonderful trip. Better to stay away from this agency.

Everything was very clear from the website, we chose the rafting and canyoning day package which was excellent value.
From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and our guides were the best - very clear instructions and made sure we got heaps of photos and videos to help remember our experience. We also had lunch at the venue which was a delicious Sri Lankan rice and curry. Thank you! We will come again

Extremely disorganized! We did a couple of tours/activities with them and always the same story: tour guides where good but the company was all over the place in terms of punctuality, communication/delay in getting back to, letting us know what we had to bring etc etc. I would not use them again

Very good experience, and cost efficient

The rafting experience was great because this is a beautiful part of the world. The rafting was exhilarating as expected but our river guide was experienced, calm and kept us safe.
A highlight was the amazing scenery as we floated past the locals playing in the river and the beautiful jungle. The river and shoreline clean too.
We had a swim and floated along and it was very chill.

We loved our stay with Rapid Adventures. The abseiling was great. Rafting was enjoyable. Food was delicious.
