Contractor Solicited To Build Course But Didn't Pay and Took Work
An employee of the company Pluralsight contacted me over the internet and asked me to do work on a course for their company. I worked for about 9 months on a project with an agreed fee of 30k, and they canceled the project just as the work was about finished, with multiple days to go before the deadline. They also took all of the work I did, including my intellectual property.
with the following email:
I’m reaching out to let you know that Pluralsight is terminating our working relationship with you effective immediately. The communication and working relationship that we’re in is unfortunately not working for either party. This decision was made as a result of your history of being unwilling to follow Pluralsight production processes and standards as well as content quality concerns. There are a few things to be aware of as a result of this decision: As was communicated yesterday, your course, 1151 - Google Cloud Certified Machine Learning Engineer, is canceled. Due to the incomplete submission of the course, you will not be paid a completion payment. You will also not be required to pay for any services rendered by our Production Services team. You will not be able to register for, attend, or speak at Pluralsight events as a Pluralsight author, such as Pluralsight LIVE, Author Summit, or Author Talks with customers. Your access to author-based tools such as Author Home (including analytics), Author Kit, and Author Slack have been terminated and you will no longer be contacted or considered for future content creation opportunities at Pluralsight. Your A Cloud Guru account has been deactivated. You will no longer have access to the Pluralsight Affiliate program, if applicable.
No support
No support. Took my money and left. Can’t contact. Scam
Will block your account for account for…
Will block your account for account for "excessive use" or skipping back to take notes. I watched less than 2 hours of content on the day I was blocked and slipped back twice to take notes. Absolute joke, save your money and stick to youtube.
Don't respond to sales request.
Don't respond to sales request.
I filled in a request to be contacted by sales, but it required me to fill in a phone number. I don't like to be contacted by phone (for reasons of disability) so I just put in 0123456789 and N/A for the company.
I haven't had any reply from them. Clearly they don't care. Pity because I wanted to discuss pricing for 100+ licenses.
Their loss.
Money-making scam - avoid!
Pluralsight's website is a little confusing with regards to company subscriptions. Having made a simple mistake and created too many subscriptions (10, when we only needed 2), we have asked the company to reduce the subscription level, as we will never use this many subscriptions. In a little over a week we have had several automated responses but no direct contact with regards to this. I am getting the feeling that this company is to be avoided. Believe some of the other reviews...avoid at all costs!!!
Greedy with no refund policy
Greedy with no refund policy, even though I'm pretty sure i canceled. Payed €350 for a year, wich i didn't want after the trial
Happy customer
I’ve been a subscriber for 2 years mostly for COMPTIA A+ and my subscription auto-renewed even though I cancelled it (I think…). I requested a refund and they processed it within the hour, even though it’s Saturday! 100% recommend the customer service and learning material!
Beware of subscription auto renewals and terms and conditions.
We've been using Pluralsight for a over a year to train our graduates. Usage has declined so I requested to drop from 5 seats to 2 seats 1 day before my subscription was due to auto renew.
The T&C's do say it's 30 days notice but there is absolutly no wriggle room in this. So I'm now paying for 5 seats, 3 of which are not used until November 2023.
Our account manager also dodges every email sent to him.
I won't be returning as a customer after this term.
Terrible customer retention stratergy.
1 Star - Beacuse ZERO wasn't an option.

I acidentially subscribed to the service because I tried the free trial but forgot to cancel. I mailed the customer service and ask them for a refund. They responded really quickly and paid me back. Great customer service.
For the product itself. I really liked it but just couldn't afford it at the time
Outdated content for overpriced fee.
If their service and content was worth the money, they would not need to automatically subscribe you to their annual plan and bill you the full amount of money... Sadly I was to slow to cancel the free trial.
The content of the basic subscription is on par with what you get for free on youtoube.
Do not waste your time and money on Pluralsight.
Reel you in - then bleed you dry
So I have been a Pluralsight member since 2018 on the standard plan (back then you had access to all 7,000 + courses).
Now I get an email saying 50% for Black Friday / Cyber Monday - so I log into my Dashboard and go to subscriptions, and sure enough a button says "50% off".
Clicking this button - I don't get 50% off. Regular price is $299, I am being charged $178.80 (so not half price).
I have logged a ticket with support on this, but they are saying this is for new customers only. Then why have it on my dashboard.
They also say that the 50% off price is for Standard or Premium, and I am on an old account which has all the features of Premium (access to all 7K courses) but costs less. As they will not honor this, they obviously want me to either leave, or pay more for the same content, whilst giving out misleading and obviously false advertising.
Reading other reviews the new model is to cut the videos in half, have the basic ones at the cheaper price and the one's you want at the more expensive price - this is totally wrong.
I have complaints and tickets logged - but Pluralsight are ignoring me or using the canned response of "this offer is only open to new customers" - then don't advertise it on my dashboard, I am obviously not a new customer.
At this stage - I am happy to cancel it and go with an alternative, there are always tons of free videos on YouTube, all someone needs to do is set up a website to catalog them and offer it for free, in which case Pluralsight's model will be out of the window.
As I am a software engineer, that's not a bad shout.
Beware: PluralSights is shady and operates like a scam, do not trust them
While we were initially satisfied with PluralSights, about a year later, a few weeks before the account billing renewal, we emailed PluralSight to cancel our company account. At that point our team had not used their service for approximately 4 months, with zero account activity over that time.
They refused, stating you have to give them 30 days notice BEFORE the renewal date to cancel. We replied they can see we havent made use of the service recently and we no longer need the service, please cancel the account. They did not reply, then about 2 weeks later, they charged us anyway despite us politely requesting they cancel the account.
Do not trust this company with your credit card or payment information, they operate like scammers.

INSTRUCTION & PRACTICE
The big advantage PluralSight HAD over their competitors was their instructors. The quality for a beginner in data science, DevOps, AWS, and Azure was fantastic. Each course is taught by an expert who has mastered the art of teaching and slides/code are provided. HOWEVER this changed after 2020. The new instructors are a waste of time.
The labs and practice were mediocre at best. Like Packt Publishing company, they started to hire less experienced individuals and quality suffered.
PRICE
The price doubled since I was a member. Current prices for an individual paying upfront for a year membership is 400 US$. The lack of good practice projects was the first reason I discontinued my subscription. The second reason is you grow out of the basics and they did not offer enough intermediate and advanced courses.
Conclusion. PluralSight would NOT be my first option. I would only select it IF, and only if, you are a beginner, can find older courses taught by experts, and can get a yearly membership for a very good discount (less than $100/yearly membership). This is ONLY because of a few exceptional data science instructors who are still on Pluralsight.
I actually liked Pluralsight
I actually liked Pluralsight, especially Scott Allen's material on C# and .NET, he was an excellent teacher. However Pluralsight kept on detecting unusual activity on my account, I had been extremely careful to log out after each session. I was millitant to not allow anyone else to use my account, and to only be logged in on one machine at a time. I've seen many people have this exact same complaint, that Pluralsight's suspicious activity detection is extremely paranoid. They seem unwilling to take a look and adjust their algorithm which seems perplexing to me considering so many others have had this same issue with them. After innocently trying to use their sevices, Pluralsight banned me because of their paranoid suspicious activity detection. This is absolute nonsense.
Terrible training!!!
Terrible training!!!! they make a bunch of trainings and say for example it covers the aws security cert, while it probably covers like 5% of the content. Its fake advertising. After posting this on linkedin i was banned from pluralsight a few days after i dont know if its related to my post
long term member going elsewhere.
They split their courses between 2 tiers. You don't really know in advance the material you will be interested in learning over the course of the year and I'm finding 90% is a 'Premium' tier. Even tutorials I've done in the past has been moved over to Premium (pay more). It's actually become pretty useless. Very expensive. The material is out dated. I was a member for many years (since they bought digitalTutors) and in the past have recommended them to other people. I won't be renewing my subscription and cannot recommend this service anymore.
Greedy company
Yes they got lots of courses but with a standard individual plan you only get access to a small subset of their courses based on some kind of popularity which means as a individual user my content has already been chosen by someone else.
To get access to whate you're looking for, you're forced to look into their premium tier.
Bottom line, ridiculously overpriced for what you get and the whole premium plan is as greedy as their business plan.
Great training videos for IT
This is one of the best training video's site out their for IT and development, I had a subscription for around 1.5 years and I learnt a lot from it.
Videos are done professionally, clear language, and good production, and just great.
Ok their price is higher than other training websites from this category, but in the end, the quality of Pluralsight videos is better than many others.
They're OK
I've used LOTS of IT Course Providers and they're just OK. I would say that I do believe the subscription is very over-priced and the Linux courses are out of date/poor as they don't include Ubuntu. That said, I was able to find a course on "SED & AWK & Bash scripting* and that's impressive. So mixed feelings about Pluralsight.
Not worth it.
I only use this site because my course forces me to. The tutorials are on the same or less level than what you can find on Youtube.
It's also ridiculously overpriced for what you get and the whole Premium tier is a greedy cruel joke.
Please do not support these kind of business practices, people.
