The process was handled very professionally.

As per the other 1-star review, Paystream seem incapable of processing anything else other than standard payroll. Their biggest failing is the reimbursement of legitimate expenses, as per HMRC guidelines, by creating T&C's undisclosed and prohibitive limits over and above those of the HMRC. Furthermore, to-date they have not reimbursed my client for the denied expenses pre-paid by my client.
The communication is also non-existent, requiring contact from me to query shortfalls in multiple expected expenses reimbursements.

Speaking to the welcome team, all point were clearly explained and the only issue I had was clarified, so a seamless and straightforward call.

We've been working with Paystream for many years and they've always been fantastic, they fill us and the contractors with complete confidence in a really important and what could be a stressful process. Jack Gallimore always gives us amazing advice and solves any issues we have with clients and contractors, we will continue to use Paystream and would reccommend them and Jack to anyone.

On the very odd occasion a time sheet is sent in late on a Friday by a contractor who is still hopeful of payment that day, Paystream pull out all the stops to create an invoice for our recruitment agency, and pay the contractor that day, which can be as late as 7pm but they get them paid. This is so helpful for all parties, and really good to know if ever needed. I wont shout it from the roof tops here as we would prefer our contractors send their timesheet Monday not 4pm on a Friday, but if they do, we know we can rely on Paystream payments team to pull out all the stops to pay them the same day, and in some cases within hours. She explained everything very clearly, asking if things were understood before moving on She clearly knew what she was talking about which gave me confidence in PayStream that I will be well looked after. The customer service phone call was above my expectations.

I’m new to contracting and to working through an umbrella company, so there was quite a lot for me to understand at the beginning. My experience with PayStream so far has been really positive. Everything has been handled quickly and efficiently, with clear communication throughout.

Sam and Tyrell have both been fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable, responsive and genuinely helpful. They’ve taken the time to answer my questions and explain things clearly without overcomplicating them, which has made the whole process much easier to navigate as someone completely new to contracting.

I’ve felt well supported throughout the onboarding process and would definitely recommend PayStream, particularly to anyone starting out as a contractor for the first time.

Your data is confused with and shared with others, they create unnecessary data and profile. So easy to have you ID stolen via these jokers.

No idea what GDPR is, nor do they have an officer for this ( a legal requirement).

I have graded Paystream only 1 star. Using Paystream as my umbrella company, I recently asked them to pay an element of my earnings into my private pension scheme under the salary sacrifice scheme. This was all set up efficiently and I read and signed the relevant terms and conditions.
When I received my payslip, I discovered that Paystream had retained 25% of the employers national insurance saved for themselves, in addition to the standard payroll processing fee.
I questioned this on the grounds that:
- there was nothing in the salary sacrifice terms and conditions to state this was their policy; and
- the employers national insurance saving isn't really theirs to take - whilst legally I am an employee of Paystream, I fund all of my employment taxes through my day rate, in reality Paystream are engaged to provide a payroll service. The national insurance saving, whilst it may be legally an employer saving, in the case of an umbrella company is not morally theirs to keep.
Paystream did offer a gesture of goodwill to revise my payslip to exclude the salary sacrifice payment - but this meant I got none of the employers NI saving - so was worse off than before. Needless to say, I declined this offer.
In summary, I would urge extreme caution in dealing with Paystream based on this experience. The terms and conditions are at best misleading and the policy of retaining money which isn't morally theirs is underhand.
