Inadequate systems. Ghosted. Businesses be careful.
A few weeks ago I parked outside a hotel for lunch. Notices in the car park advised I should register in the hotel to avoid a parking charge.
I had expected to receive some tangible token, e.g. a ticket, when I entered the pub. The barmaid directed me to a gadget on the wall near the bar. One of the regulars seated at the bar helped me to enter details and confirmed from the display on the screen I had completed the process. I received no other acknowledgement or receipt.
I was surprised some time later to receive photographs of my car and notice of a parking charge from Parkmaven. I contacted the hotel. The staff were helpful and polite and confirmed they had cancelled the ticket.
I wished to avoid being caught in a bureaucratic loop such as those described by other reviewers. I therefore contacted Parkmaven asking them to confirm they accepted that I owed them no money and had dropped this matter. They confirmed receipt of my communication but two weeks later I still have not received the courtesy of a response.
That I was not provided with some stand alone confirmation of registration suggests a fundamental fault in Parkmaven's systems.
I would suggest to an owner of premises or manager of a business considering a relationship with Parkmaven that you should carefully consider the risk of damage to your relationship with your customers.
Frustrating admin failure leading to anxiety
we paid an online operation called ParkingBox via a website "comparecheapairportparking.co.uk" for a Park&Ride service to LHR T4.
They directed us to park in the car park of Novotel West Drayton (currently not open to the public).
A week after our return, a parking charge notice arrived from ParkMaven with a demand for payment under threat of legal action.
After numerous attempts to discover exactly why this had happened, I had had no useful replies from ParkingBox, Novotel OR ParkMaven, so I threw in the towel and, hoping to recover the cost via a debit card chargeback, went to ParkMaven's payment website... To discover that the charge had been cancelled without explanation and without my being informed!
So two weeks of pointless fretting and anger due to poor admin and communications. Grrrr!
Refusal to accept a legitimate appeal. Unwarranted increase in fine
Refusal to accept a legitimate appeal.
Subsequently, contrary to earlier communication raised the fee while the appeal process was ongoing.
They raise the fine if you appeal and they refuse it!
The behaviour is at best unethical, devious and exploitative. Those commissioning this company to manage their parking areas should be ashamed.
They cannot be contacted by phone and I suspect go against the guidance currently in place or under consideration by the industry.
No wonder the government is seeking to legislate against this sector

The Lowry Centre Salford Quays. A Joke.
The Lowry Centre Salford Quays.
What a joke. They threaten to enforce illegal parking; parking in disabled bays, outside marked bays etc. but to date have done absolutely nothing. You can park with impunity wherever you want and they won't do anything!
We stayed at the Holiday Inn at Cambridge
We stayed at the Holiday Inn at Cambridge but inadvertently quoted part of the wrong registration number. When the fine was received we appealed based on the fact that the Hotel could verify that we had stayed but ParkMaven chose to ignore this and offered us a reduction in the fine as long as we accepted responsibility. Fortunately a quick email to the hotel saw the fine cancelled but you do wonder how companies like this can justify trying to force people to pay when they have made a simple mistake which can be easily verified.
It's a pity you cannot give minus stars…
It's a pity you cannot give minus stars as this is a complete scamming company. Got a parking ticket even though I was just parking up at a hotel to check available dates and then got a ticket, even though the hotel had cleared by car. Wrote to these cowboys 3 times via their link online. NO RESPONSE, just keep sending me threatening letters. Now £170 demand. Complete rip off merchants. Have now reported them to POPLA (official ombudsman) and I'd recommend everyone does that, to stop these criminals from ripping everyone off, cause it is clear from these reviews they are con men
I parked legally in a hotel car park
I parked legally in a hotel car park. As the signage and markings for disabled spaces were poor, I had to drive out, round a one way system, and back in before finding a suitable space. I logged my details as soon as I went in the hotel.
Somehow, Parkmaven have managed to find a way to refuse my appeal and I have had to pay a fine of £100 that I can't afford. I doubt that they even checked the cameras and timings to see that my story was true. I don't see how you can be fined for parking legally for an event at the hotel, that the hotel could also confirm. Absolutely disgusting.
Immoral and greedy
This greedy, evil company have installed a dynamic pricing (which means we can charge as much as we like on any given day without warning) camera controlled number plate recognition system in my tiny village called Beggarwood. In a community carpark that was previously used by the whole village for free, on the understanding that residents could use the community services such as Gp, pharmacy, densist, community centre village hall, mini co-op and for using the park for dog walking, taking children to the park etc and that they could take as long as they like!
The immorality of changing a free community car park into a dystopian camera controlled app paying nightmare is unacceptable and greedy on so many levels. I feel this change should be blocked by the local council as it should be illegal to do this in a small village community car park. These facilities are essential and no one should ever be forced to pay or forced to carry a smart phone to be able to pay. I personally don’t carry a mobile or smart phone by freedom of choice. Im also disabled. Many residents don’t have smart phones. None of the local residents consented to these cameras and charges being suddenly installed in our community! After reading other reviews it seems this company are nothing but untrustworthy cowboys and really the uk government should be clamping down on illegal corruption like this!
If I could give this company 0 stars I…
If I could give this company 0 stars I would. After visiting a car park operated by them in Nefyn North Wales, it took me 5 attempts to get through to 1 of the phone numbers provided on their parking boards. Four times I was cut off before getting to the payment stage. At the 5th attempt I managed to make the £5 daily payment charge. Two weeks later I receive a parking fine of £100 as they say I didn't pay. After sharing my bank statement and proving to them that I did pay they offered me a reduced fine of £20. No thanks Park Maven. They claim my payment couldn't be logged against my vehicle?? After trying the phone line I paid on again I realised at no point do the instructions ask for a prompt for your vehicle reg. So how on earth can they link payments to vehicles. This company is an absolute sham and I look forward to them taking me to the small claims court.
Complete crooks
Complete crooks. Their machine didn't provide receipts and I was fined £100. I sent them a screenshot of my credit card account showing the payment, but this was rejected as insufficient evidence. And POPLA were just as bad, only defending the crooks.
Beware of Parkmaven
Got sent a parking fine for parking for 3 days in a car park I wasn’t parked in lucky for myself I have ring doorbell that proved my car was on my driveway everyday. There reply was that sometimes there cameras don’t pick up number plates absolute joke this company. Parked in the same car park that they said I was in when I wasn’t and the machine wasn’t working so took a photo for proof that it was out of order sent this to parkmaven for appeal 3 times just get back someone will be in contact soon surprise surprise no one has made contact , but get a reminder for the payment of the fine in the post . This company should not be in operation be very aware of PARKMAVEN. I have all proof of my appeals and there sad acknowledgment of someone will make contact which no one ever has.
Dont use
Stated on their signs if i don't display a blue badge i will face a fine of £100. As the signs where confusing i spoken to the owners off the car park and their response was just display the blue badge front of window where its easy to see as parking is free for blue badge holders. So we did this. Before leaving I took pictures of the signs to get evidence. Few weeks later got a £100 fine, spoken to the owners and the sobby woman was disgusted that a disabled person used there car park and had a go, currently using the appeal process even they dont know the rules as 1 minute there saying parking is free for disabled and next saying you got to pay so dont know where this is going
What to say about Park Maven
What to say about Park Maven? Surely they have to operate to a standard.
It really is disgusting how they treat people and provide no customer service to discuss anything.
Frustrating to say the least.
Poison
Poison - typical of everything that is wrong about Britain at this moment in time and one of the core reasons consumer trust is at an all time low. My next step will be to escalate to the regulator and my guess is they'll do nothing either and that's why Parkmaven are getting away with this. I have written to these guys 3 times re a debt they are pursuing re a charge that relates to my fathers car. He's been dead 14 months and his car is now kept in Norwich, (he lived in the Peak District). There's a picture of a car branding his reg number in Birmingham??!! The car has never been within a 100 miles of B'ham in the two years he has owned it? If this was your company... on hearing that... do you think you'd at least tell DCB Ltd to stop chasing until you had replied? Of course you would. Not Parkmaven of course. Lets just ignore everything anyone is trying to tell us. The only response I have had is from the complaints team .... 1 line... please send this to support, (assuming they believe it is not a complaint). Not a single review giving them anything more than 1*. How can the regulator allow this level of dreadful service to keep happening?
Fraudulent fines!
Despite prepaying good money for 2 weeks parking and leaving a day early they are trying to fine me. They have ignored communications and chosen to escalate to debt collection agency, now standing at 170 pounds!
DO NOT USE THEIR CARPARKS THEY APPEAR TO BE UNSCRUPULOUS BULLIES AND THIEVES!!
Parkmaven PCN at holiday inn express folestone
Stayed overnight at Holiday Inn express Folkstone. Paid for parking £6 with discount card from reception , then2 weeks later received PCN fron Parkmaven to say I had not paid. I had proof of payment from my bank and still had the discount card given to me by reception. I appealed but they did not aknowledge receipt of the appeal. Today received another demand for £100 I have therefore sent the appeal again and sent a complaint and sent a letter recorded in the hope that I will get a response but I dont hold out much hope. So Judging by the commen ts on here I will probably harrassed to pay for months on end.I await my day in court. Just an update my appeal was a success after sending complaint and recorded delivery letter. So if you have proof you have paid send in appeal and you may just win.
Genuine attempt to pay ignored
I have no objection to paying for parking and continue to use this car park, routinely paying the advertised tariff.
My concern relates to one specific occasion where I made repeated genuine attempts to pay but was unable to do so because the payment system displayed an incorrect tariff and subsequently failed to process my attempts. I provided contemporaneous timestamped screenshots as evidence throughout the appeals process.
Rather than addressing these specific issues, ParkMaven relied on generic statements that no payment had been made and that other motorists had successfully paid. Neither explanation addressed why I was shown an incorrect tariff or why my payment attempts failed.
I have now paid the charge to avoid the time, stress and uncertainty of further legal proceedings, but I remain disappointed that my evidence was never meaningfully addressed. I have also submitted a formal complaint and will update this review once I receive a response.
I parked two years ago at the Premiere…
I parked two years ago at the Premiere inn car park Elland Road Leeds. I stayed at the hotel for two days and paid my parking at the hotel luckily using my debit card.
About a month later I received a substantial fine from ParkMaven limited for parking without payment,
I contacted Premier inn they just fobbed me off.
Parkmaven just pursued me relentlessly threatening everything.
Went through some kangaroo court of arbitration ( Civil National Business Centre) in which I highlighted all the evidence and my payment.
Parkmaven then went to the county court issuing a provisional court summons then within two weeks contacted me to say I could pay a reduced fine of £170.
I ignored them and awaited the county court confirmation hearing letter.
Hence this morning the county court sent me a letter saying the court appearance has been cancelled due to their lack of response.
Total fraudsters, who rely on fear, intimidation and the fact that they can waste your valuable time without any repercussions.
Just remember always keep receipts and records, to these companies it’s just business.
Appalling company ! Avoid at all costs
Appalling company !
Paid in advance for parking at a location managed by them via a third party app.
30 odd days later a PCN lands in my company email account saying I hadn’t paid.
Appealed with the receipt to prove I’d paid. Didn’t hear anything back, then another PCN landed for a different date so appealed that one.
Never had any acknowledgment for either appeal, no popla code nothing.
A few months past then I get a final warning letter, so appealed again. Again no popla code no acknowledgment.
Another couple of months past and I get a letter of non payment from a debt collector !
This company are scammers / thieves to put it mildly !
Do not park anywhere they operate.
