We are here, albeit in a reduced capacity during these difficult times. Established over 70 years, 5 generations of the Owen Barry family have been involved in the tanning and producing of beautiful leather, cowhide and sheepskin products here in Somerset. Please be assured all orders are still being despatched very promptly, at Owen Barry our raison d'être has always been to help our clients find the best quality and value for money whilst guaranteeing them service and eco surety; and even during these unprecedented times, that is still our primary goal. We have a very small skeleton staff fulfilling orders and helping customers, so please don't hesitate to telephone, email and ideally carry on purchasing from us - we would sincerely appreciate your support, perhaps even more so at the moment! Owen Barry staff are the heart and soul of our British manufacturing business, most have the team have been with us "forever" and we want it to stay that way, therefore we are obviously doing everything we can to keep them safe. Presently many of the OB team have been furloughed, leaving just a few of us finishing and despatching orders, but please don't let that stop you, we are thoroughly enjoying the challenge, especially the customer service and interaction, remotely of course! Still handcrafting everything in our own factory based in the West of England, we use skills and knowledge that have been handed down from craftsman to another. Owen Barry is now headed up by mother and daughter duo of Cindi and Chas, whilst we no longer tan skins here at the Tanyard, we still invest a great deal of time, passion and inherent knowledge resourcing from the worlds finest tanneries to ensure,the quality and the environmental provenance of all the skins we use. By doing this we can ensure everything we make comes from a bi product of the food industry, this together with locally or European sourced trimmings, sundries and supplies means we are keeping our environmental footprint to a minimum whilst all the time cutting back on wastage and single use plastics. Class crossover bag
Great bag, big enough for bits and pieces, long adjustable strap, means when bag full you can have your bag lower than your hip which is so more comfortable than on the hip. Beautifully made, eye for detail, like the metal pieces holding the straps are a soft brass not bright gold. Class product as always.

The sheepskin beanbag is fantastic
The sheepskin beanbag is fantastic, great quality, and so comfortable. We had to buy a second one as my teenage son kidnapped the first one. 100% recommend. With the added bonus of supporting a British company.

I wanted to return my order for a different colour and have sent a few emails without any reply. This is very frustrating as now I have to worry as to whether I have just lost my money if I post it back and it is never acknowledged.

I’m absolutely delighted
I’m absolutely delighted with my beautiful black leather ring bound script holder. Very good quality, simple classic design, handcrafted using sustainable natural materials and traditional methods. Made in Britain (hip, hip…) with not a piece of plastic in sight! (Hooray!). I cannot recommend highly enough and will definitely be using this company again. I’m so glad I found them. Barry Owen is SUPERB
Barry Owen is synonymous with exceptional quality leather bags. Also purchased a sheepskin rug which was amazing too. Lovely messenger handbag complete with hand strap handle and cross-body strap, so versatility incorporated into functional design. Superb quality, craftsmanship and materials create stunning bags, 5 stars all round. Also, beautifully packaged and very fast delivery service. Very delighted indeed 😀
