Excellent communication and outstanding workmanship

To quote Oily Jack's contact page; "Your email isn't going to the inbox abyss, never to be seen or heard from again".

I emailed via the contact page just shy of a month ago and again two weeks ago, hoping to receive a quote for a repair and rewax. I received an automated response acknowledging my email, but I have heard nothing since.

Considering the overall positive reviews, it is a shame that communication has been non-existent. I fully appreciate that at this time of year this sort of service will be busy, if that is the case, a simple "we are busier than expected" type response would have been better than nothing.

I recently popped into the Oily Jack shop/workshop to drop off a jacket to be rewaxed. I had a pleasant chat with the owner, Ashley, very pleasant & helpful.
My jacket has just been returned by Royal Mail, no dramas! And looking like new!

When my re waxed and cleaned jacket was unpacked, I couldn't believe it was the same jacket I sent away.

To quote my wife prior to sending to Oily J, ' that jacket needs the bin. It smells of old sweat, tyres and diesel. It is rank' .

Should have seen her face when the cleaned jacket arrived. Shocked, I tell ya.

Oily J made a cracking job rewaxing and cleaning. Very pleased and would recommend without hesitation. Good service too, quick turnaround and good comms.

I have just collected the third Barbour jacket that Ashley has customised for me, this time a 97 Border I bought for my son. It needed some stitching and a re-wax, but as with the other two jackets, Ashley worked his customising magic. Different coloured material to bind the hand warmer pockets. sleeves and pocket flaps have transformed the look. A one off. my son was absolutely thrilled with the outcome. Thank you once again Oily Jack.

I knew I was in thr right place, as soon as I met Ash. My Barbour was already a bit different, but I needed a few custom. Changes. Storm cuffs fitted, and a reduction on the length of the collar. I wanted to retain the storm flap, which Ashley completely redesigned. The perfect Scooter jackets. Thank again for the excellent service and quality. Will definitely use for re-waxing.

From the moment I presented my 30+ yr old Barbour Durham jacket that was very much on its last legs, Ashley understood my feelings of wanting to try and save the jacket and whilst it was going to be a challenge, he took it on. We agreed a top line budget and I left it with him, Yesterday I went to collect the jacket and was amazed the workmanship and quality of the ‘rebuild’ which was truly remarkable. I now have my cherished jacket back and can’t wait to use it when the weather calls.
I’m so grateful for all Ashley’s efforts and his willingness to go above and beyond and treating me with such care and understanding.

Delivered as promised. Efficient service and the clean and wax made the difference.

Needed studs added to my Barbour jacket so I could attach a hood. End results, it looks like it came from Barbour like that. Absolutely thrilled with the results. Thank you.

I was very pleased and impressed with the quality of the re-waxing and repair of my motorcycle jacket. I had re-waxed the jacket myself a few years ago and was not totally happy with the outcome, so this time when it was needing done again I started looking on line to see what professional waxing services were available out there. When I received my quote from Oily Jack to re-wax the jacket and repair a Velcro fastener I hesitated a bit but decided in the end to go for it. I’m so glad I did ! The difference between my own previous attempt at re-waxing the jacket and the Oily Jack product was night and day. My jacket is like new now. I couldn’t believe how well it looked when it was returned. In the end it was money well spent in my opinion, and when it needs re-waxed again in a few years time after many wet miles riding I won’t hesitate to use Oily Jack again.
The communication/instruction process via email regarding the process for sending/receiving the jacket to/from Oily Jack was very clear and worked well.
The lead time for the re-waxing was 2-3 weeks but I was okay with that as this was made clear in the emails. The packaging the jacket was returned in was very professional and nice to open, like receiving a new purchase.
In summary, I’m very impressed with the professional service and quality product provided by Oily Jack.
