Even the bank in Taiwan has moved and changed but account # is the same
And the name was flagged under sanction because the name is close to a Russia compnay ? Mirco Reserch vs MICROELECTRONICS RESEARCH INSTITUTE PROGRESS JSC ?? . FULL of OFX KYC BS, the "Bank of Canada" wants more proof of the company structure. Give me a break, if the company is small or an independent reseller who just give themselve a name. I have been sending money to this company for since 2014. KYC more like kiss your Cancel should be Kiss Your Customer

The customer service was great. As the market was volatile I waited in anticipation. The Canadian reps Connor, Katelyn, and Alaina were great. This was a large sum of money for us to exchange and the advice we got and the confidence to transfer to the large sum of money to the Toronto Bank. We gained a good amount compared to our bank rate. I do not recommend OFX's services and warn everyone against using them, as they disregard the most basic consumer protection rules, including Canadian law, where the company is licensed.
Brief summary of the case:
At the end of January, I accidentally initiated a very large, erroneous transfer. I noticed it immediately and reported the error. A week later, customer service still told me, "don't worry, the item has not been posted." Then, suddenly, I was charged a $12,247 USD (!!!) "conversion reversal fee" about which I never received any prior notification in any form.
What's wrong with OFX's practice?
There was NO prior warning. While navigating the site or in the guaranteed rate confirmation email, nowhere was it stated that a fee of this magnitude exists, how it is calculated, or what it might be. There was only a general, vague sentence stating that a "cost may be incurred." This is a sheer disgrace for a transaction worth several hundred thousand dollars and is also problematic from a Canadian consumer protection perspective.
The fee is completely unexpected and disproportionate. They are trying to force a cost on me that stems from their internal trading risk, but about which they did not inform me, the user, so I could not make an informed decision.
Lacks legal basis. In my view, this practice violates EU, UK, AND Canadian consumer protection regulations. The vague clauses they use constitute unfair contract terms, and the failure to disclose the scale of the fee is a misleading commercial practice. I have reported this to the Quebec financial authority (AMF). When I brought this to their attention, they did not address my legal argument but instead sent a simple payment demand.
Lesson and warning:
OFX's system does not protect against obvious user input errors and can impose hidden, undisclosed fees that represent a significant percentage of the transaction value. This is an unacceptable risk. There are other, more reliable currency exchange services where prices and costs are truly transparent.
My advice to everyone: Avoid OFX, especially for larger amounts. If you still use it, be prepared that behind the "guaranteed rate" lurk huge, undisclosed risks and potential costs that you will only learn about when it's too late.

Lost 53k CAD. This happened Dec 26, 2025.

I have opened a local RCMP file SQ26-976 - and a federal case file 2026-2597-4807-0 (if anyone wants to attach their report onto it.

I am a dual citizen, living in the US. I had been researching different companies that accommodate the exchange and transfer of funds between countries. I spoke with a competitor of OFX and found that their company did not fit my needs. And then I found OFX. After reviewing their website and reading third-party reviews, I was impressed. I went to their website and got registered. Then I spoke with a lovely lady in BC, and she answered all my questions and got me set up. The following day, I received a notification (I had set up an alert for exchange rates). I logged in and connected my Canadian account to send the payment to OFX, which would then transfer the money to my US account. After doing this, I received a note from my Canadian bank, and since I had checked a couple of ways to send the money, I was notified that one option was not available. Being overly cautious, I called OFX and spoke with Sara in Ontario. What an absolute PLEASURE she was. She confirmed that I had set up the transfer correctly and that it should be completed in just a few days. Depending on the financial institution's transfer schedules. There is enough stress in moving money these days, but with the confidence shown by the customer service people, I am looking forward to doing business with OFX for years to come.

OFX withdrew my money from my account, before requesting for extra documents to make sure account is in good standing. I asked for a reversal of my money. They did, but the refund to me stuck. so not it's been 2 weeks, I cannot have my money back, they just keep saying they're waiting for payment team to approve return. Do not use them

My small credit union only offers international transfers through OFX, and I needed to purchase equipment across the border. As someone who had never done a transfer before, I was nervous and completely unfamiliar with the process. I had a great deal of difficulty navigating things on my credit union’s side and getting everything set up with OFX, and honestly, I don’t think I would have been successful without the relentless, dedicated support from the OFX team.
They worked tirelessly — even outside of office hours — to help me meet the tight deadlines I was facing. Their patience, professionalism, and willingness to walk me through each step made all the difference.
A special shout-out to Vanessa, who deserves more than a five-star rating. Her patience, kindness, and ingenuity were truly exceptional. She is the gold standard for customer service, and because of her, what was a stressful experience became a successful and reassuring one.

I am writing to express my frustration regarding the issues I encountered during my recent attempt to transfer funds from CAD to USD on November 10, 2025.
Previously, on October 3, 2025, my transfer to the same vendor was declined by your system. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue at that time, I was unable to find an advisor who could assist me effectively. Ultimately, I had to complete the payment via a wire transfer through my bank, which cost our company approximately $600 in additional fees.
Today, when I attempted the transfer again, the agent I spoke with advised me that I needed to go to my bank and have them transfer the funds directly to OFX before OFX could convert and send the payment to the vendor. However, I noticed an option on my OFX screen titled “Add Funds”, and when I asked about it, the agent confirmed that I could use that feature as well.
Did not understand the entire idea about this Professionalism

I attempted to use OFX.com to send money to my account in Mexico after the restrictions came into effect to Intercam. I had to jump through so many hoops to get my money refunded from OFX that I will not use them again.
Wise.com warned me in advance that the transfer could not be completed, and Xe.com provided a refund within 48 hours with little fuss.

J'ai écrie un message ici pour me plaindre, celui si est le 2ieme suite a la reponse inadequate a mon premier, j'ai envoyer un transfer interac, puis mon compte a été bloqué, JE REPETE, TRANSFER INTERAC, et j'ai été remis avec la reponse 'ask your bank for a recall' .
