no phone contact after 1 week

I already had an account i had used several times in the past several years ago and they said i needed to have a verbal conversation by telephone to use it again, which was slightly annoying but might have been ok if they were efficient about it - for almost a week now I have sent daily messages to them to call me back but they don't seem to give a shit - calling at random times with no warning or schedule, when i can't answer the phone, so i have been unable to transfer funds in a timely manner. Absolutely useless performance - if they can't even organize a basic phone call what else cant they get right? I will use another company.

I have been with OFX for over 10 years…

I have been with OFX for over 10 years and since July 25 OFX introduced a new system, which has many flaws in it. Poor service when you ring for assistance.
Some staff are very helpful others do not want to assist you and they put you on hold and transfer you to a message bank. None of the issues i have raised have been addressed. What was a great experience using OFX is on longer the case.

I have been using OFX Au for my forex transactions for over ten years. Their reliability, professionalism, speed of transfer and accessibility are impeccable. There is always someone at the other end of the line. Lately I had to make a number of transfers and was most capably facilitate by Lily Cai who was able to provide me with competitive rates, assurance and a smooth process. Great Customer Support & Rates

Last week I used OFX to complete a transfer of funds to a UK bank re a small property purchase. The rates offered were significantly better than those offered by the major banks. I found the customer support to be very good. Not being a regular user of OFX it was great to have their support on the phone at each step in the process if I needed it. I will certainly use them again if the need arises and have very happy to recommend

Dealer Room - $1m+ transfer advice

I first contacted OFX by email "large transfer" Sat Oct 25 @ 09:44. A phone call to the Dealer Room (Sean) was made at 11:41 am on Monday Oct 27 as I did not receive a call back as requested. The rate quoted at the time was 0.8753 + 8 points for an amount above $1m. It was decided to fix a target rate, and I was advised I could cancel at any time if I wanted to move quicker. This was critical in making the decision to hold for 2 or 3 days with AUS inflation data pending. I decided to move quicker and to move $1m+ from NZ to AUD. I rang Oct 29 at 12:21 the OFX Dealer Room (Sasha) and she set about putting in a "rescue" mission. She advised I urgently clear funds with my NZ Bank as OFX needs funds within 2 days of putting in place a contract. The NZ Bank and OFX both required documents to comply with money laundering legislation and dealing with a person in Australia. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD BEEN ADVISED THIS BY OFX. Thank you, Sasha. The funds were finally received by my AUS Bank at 17:30 on Thur Oct 30 at an OFX rate of 0.8719. The loss 42 points during this time hurts and I wonder if I had been able to get all the AML stuff done on Monday Oct 27 afternoon things may have turned out better.

Ofx has become a terrible company

Ofx has become a terrible company. I have been a customer for over 10 years going back to the CanadianForex days when they used to be excellent on customer service. Today they bare no resemblance to that company. How it is missed deadlines, failed promises, long waits on hold for over a half hour listening to marketing BS instead of hold music. Endless security questions and platform changes. The last transaction took over a month to return the money after they failed to be able to send it to the recipient and then cost me a loss in funds FX because they wanted to return the funds in a different currency after failing to deliver. This crossed a fiscal year and caused great hardship. Bordering on scamming. Held money over a month, failed to deliver, spent about 6 hours on hold and followup to get funds back.

Having not used OFX for many years…

Having not used OFX for many years during which hacking and SPAM have increased exponentially I was wary. I checked others, especially one I’ve regularly used for small fast transfer. No need, OFX telephone and online support excellent, speedy service, excellent rates.

on-line application "accept/load" limitations

I had difficulty getting your on-line application format to accept/load. As happens with many such formats, the algorithm writer thought that he/she had covered all situations - WELL THEY HAD NOT! and foolishly they failed to add the "else"code-option to cover unforeseen situations (like my situation was). In short, you need to add a capability for the application to "accept/load" the document with added information (for human interpretation?) ..... 13/14? Oct/Sep? 25
I found a "work-around" and it worked OK.
I'm unstoppable! Lol! (and a long-time satisfied customer)

Absolutely Disgraceful Experience – Avoid OFX Australia

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with OFX Australia was so appalling it demands attention. I trusted them to handle a straightforward international money transfer from Australia, and they failed spectacularly.

Not only did the transfer never reach its destination, but it took four full weeks—yes, an entire month—for them to return my funds. During this time, communication was vague, evasive, and painfully slow. I was left in the dark, chasing updates, with no accountability from their team. Their so-called "support" felt more like a black hole of canned responses and empty promises.

This wasn’t just inconvenient—it was financially disruptive. OFX’s incompetence cost me time, money, and peace of mind. For a company that claims to specialize in global transfers, their service was anything but professional.

If you value reliability, transparency, and basic customer service, look elsewhere. OFX Australia has proven to be unreliable, unresponsive, and utterly untrustworthy. Stay away from this company at all costs!

No Longer Satisfied with OFX Service

I was a regular user of OFX to pay for overseas holidays in foreign currency and previously had no issues with their service.

However I have now had issues with 2 attempted payments from AUD/JPY to a Hong Kong based travel company. These payments were attempted on the 12/8/25 and re-attempted on the 2/9/25. The first attempt resulted in my funds being returned minus a fee with no valid reason for the rejection.

The second attempt on the 2/9/25 was also held up by OFX's intermediary bank. I was advised that this was due to an OFAC (USA) compliance review, of which I provided answers to all their questions on the 12/9/25 after I was requested for this information by OFX. I was requested similar compliance questions again from OFX's intermediary bank on the 3/10/25.

Users should be aware that if your transfers are caught up in a "Compliance Review" by OFX intermediary banks in the USA- it is frustrating and time consuming trying to get an accurate answer as to the status of your transaction by OFX.
Although OFX customer service reply's to your queries they do not appear to have the ability to expedite a solution.

The 2nd payment attempt was finally paid to the recipient on the 6 October 2025 (over 5 weeks after the transaction was done).

I have not received any communication from OFX advising that this was eventually paid - I received a confirmation from the recipient. I appreciate that OFX uses an intermediary bank, however this is part of their internal process to deliver a paid service - and is obviously not working as it should.

I will be organizing payments through another means.

Be careful.

Be very careful with this service. I tried to use them to send money to a bank account internationally. They took my money but refused to send it, saying I needed to call them, as I was abroad I couldn't call. They just kept the money.

I then asked to cancel it and have my money back. They refused to give my money back requesting documents from my bank. I provided these documents many times but it was never good enough for them. Finally I had to wait until my bank issued it's monthly report for them to give back my money.

The customer service was also very condescending and rude. Be very careful with this company as they like to recieve money but don't like to send it out. I really got scared it was fully a scam but in the end I did get my money back.

OFX Worst Ever

Hi, I have spent more than 3 hours on the phone in the last 48 hours with OFX... simple transfer A$390... all my personal details, passport, licence etc, and the same for the recipient.. 4 longs calls (1 hour, 20 mins, 15 mins, 10 mins,) ... lots of promises from the Call Centre but none kept on Transfer.. now I have to prove I send them the Money on BSB to get my money back... operators are following a script and cannot really help you...

After years of not requiring…

After years of not requiring international transfer capability, OFX was able to get me back in business within minutes! ...whereas our local bank required me to do all the leg work and then charge me for the privilege! Thanks OFX!
