Went on a fantastic 5 day baking course via notintheguidebooks. Booking was very easy. There were actually other companies offering the same experience but the service I received from NITGB was so personal and friendly that this was the only company I wanted to go with.

The actual experience was incredible. A fantastic baking course where I learnt loads, in an amazing area with a lovely family. Would 100% recommend the company and the course.

Just back from an amazing trip to Norway with Not in the Guidebooks. The local hosts, the accommodation and all the experiences included in the package were fantastic. This trip really allowed us to experience Norway, taking us to places we would never have found on our own and connecting us with locals who really bought the place alive.

Absolutely awful company. Communication is terrible, they never get back to you. Nitgb advertised something as "an experience highlight" yet after booking it was not on my itinerary, and was told it was extra. Yet there was no asterisk indicating it was extra. Unfortunately they will not admit false advertising or honour their advertised experience.

Just back from my first holiday with NITG - photography and cookery in Morocco, a fantastic experience from start and finish: the advice, the pre-trip communication, transfer, fantastic accommodation and wonderful hosts Darren and Naima. You will be my first port of call for my next holiday!

We were supposed to go to the Russo family vineyard on Mount Vesuvius but ended up at the Sorrentino vineyard. I knew there was a going to be a problem when there was only ONE glass to taste four different wines. Totally unprofessional and a waste of time, the wines were horrible. The Russo family website had the possibility of being an enjoyable time.

We’ve enjoyed an amazing Greek Islands tour taking in Mykonos, Santorini and Crete, with several fascinating experiences, including cooking lunch in a family home, hiking through the Cretan mountains, a wine tour, climbing an active (though dormant) volcano, and visiting the island of Delos, a UNESCO World Heritage site on which humans possibly date back as far as 4000 BC….simply an amazing trip!
Very well planned and put together by Not In The Guidebooks, who were also very quick to respond to our queries etc - Not In The Guidebooks are recommended by me!

Went on the London bike tour and really enjoyed it! The guide was great, enthusiastic and full of anecdotes and interesting facts about the usual landmarks and some unusual ones too.
The bikes were surprisingly comfy and easy to ride. Highly recommend!

I did Spanish and surfing in fuerta Ventura and Spanish and salsa in Madrid. Both were amazing, fun experiences.

John Skelcher is an experienced Florentine trained artist and an excellent teacher who taught a small group for 6 days. He’s also a lovely person. I have only extremely positive things to say about the whole experience. There was a mix of studio and plein air painting often from after breakfast to mid evening, with breaks. I learned an enormous amount from him and enjoyed his company too. The situation of his retreat and the quality of accommodation is superlative, and is all managed fantastically by his partner Jana, who cooks masses of utterly fantastic food. I never write reviews for anything but feel strongly I should share my thoughts about the truly great experience I have just had. Go on this painting week! I’d be shocked if anyone from beginner to experienced would say otherwise.

Our photography and cooking course in Morocco was phenomenal! It was just us, so we got lots of one-on-one instruction and learned a lot as well as seeing the area from more of a local's perspective. I will keep an eye on this site for future travel programs.

Excellent day spent tasting wine and exploring St. Paul de Vence. Justin was a great guide..very happy with this experience!

I did the Saint Paul de Vence wine tasting excursion in the South of France which was amazing! We had a lovely local driver who collected us from our hotel and he had so much knowledge on the area, the excursion was fun and really well organised, I would definitely recommend!

Great for a family adventure (2 adults & 2 teens). The instructors were excellent and there were escape routes if you didn't feel up to the jumps! Well worth the money and would definitely book again. Shout out to Fred and Alfie for making the experience safe and enjoyable.

I have to recommend the Italian cooking course in Tuscany with Rita. This was a fabulous way to unwind and Rita's hospitality knew no bounds. Perfect for the single traveller as you will meet like minded people who love food, good company, and plentiful wine. The wine was locally made and didnt give you a hangover which for me is no bad thing. In between cooking lessons we went on day trips to the local villages and the more impressive towns of Lucca and Pisa. Overall this holiday was fantastic value for money.

We booked the Walking/Whiskey/Wildlife program with NITG. The provider was Walk Scotland, Jan Haber. Mr. Haber did not come to the pickup point we were given and had we not called him, we would still be waiting! There were (3) of us on this tour. Our hiking guide did the best he could, but our "walks" were primarily roaming around in pastures and along the seashore. We did NOT do "Whiskey" tastings except for what we by going to the distilleries ourselves. Our guide said he did not know it was part of the program! The Wildlife were a few shore birds - what we could see at home! The hotel accommodations and meals - all included in the cost of the program - were pathetic! Old, somewhat rundown facilities - and the food was generally in inexpensive places - sometimes a restaurant and sometimes not! We have booked many trips with various companies specializing in walking trips and this was by far the worst! We do not recommend it and would not book another trip with this organization.

From the very beginning NITGB was incredibly helpful via email to discuss and arrange a foraging experience for my daughters 16th birthday, while we visited the Lake District. Lee was very patient as we went back and forth to make sure all the plans could come together. Then reality struck and the service provider got Covid the day before the trip. We were so disappointed.
BUT Carol never let up. She was in constant contact over the next two days as she searched and called everyone she could think of to try and make our experience happen. And she did! Katherine Beaumont, of Full Circle Experiences, made herself available. Along with her sweet daughter they got my husband and birthday girl into the bushes and trees and cooking lunch over an open fire. It was amazing. Exactly what my daughter wanted to experience and she is still talking about it.
