According to my following experience…
According to my following experience Nissan Canada is the worst car manufacturing company. This company does not stand behind their products.
I leased a 2017 Nissan Rogue in December 2016 and purchased it in December 2021 directly from Nissan Canada. Around the end of August 2022, while I was driving on an expressway in the city of Richmond Hill, I noticed that the engine RPM and vehicle speed were fluctuating which caused safety hazards. These safety hazards include being unable to maintain the proper speed to integrate seamlessly into the flow of traffic, especially on highways or freeways, putting drivers at risk of being rear-ended or otherwise causing an accident unless they pull off the road. After a brief time, the service engine light of the vehicle came on and the vehicle continued to operate unsafely. I took the vehicle which had only 71,000 KM/44,000 miles to my Nissan dealer (Alta Nissan Richmond Hill) on Tuesday, August 30th, 2022, when Alta Nissan told me that the vehicle needed continuous variable transmission (CVT) replacement. After I heard that the transmission of a very well-maintained vehicle failed at 71,000 KM/44,000 miles, I requested the dealer to wait until I contact the Nissan Customer Care center. I also performed a Google search for “Nissan CVT Problem” and learned that there are numerous complaints, lawsuits, and customer dissatisfaction. I also learned that because of the high rate of failure, Nissan extended the CVT warranty in the United States.
I contacted Nissan Customer Care on the same day (August 30th, 2022) and discussed the situation. I also informed them that since Nissan has extended the CVT transmission warranty in the United States for the 2017 Nissan Rogue from 5 years/60,000 miles to 7 years/84,000 miles due to the high rate of failures, I expected Nissan Canada to cover the CVT transmission replacement cost for my 5 years old Nissan Rogue that only had 44,000 miles/71,000 KM before the transmission failure.
After days (while the vehicle remained at Alta Nissan Richmond Hill) on September 9th, 2022, I received a call and a follow-up email stating that Nissan can only cover 45% of the CVT replacement cost if Alta Nissan replaces the transmission.
After Alta Nissan Richmond Hill replaced the CVT transmission on September 15, 2022, I contacted Nissan customer care again and requested them to consider reimbursing me for the cost of repair ($3,818.15) that I paid to Alta Nissan Richmond Hill, but they declined.
From my perspective, this decision by Nissan is a clear discrimination between Nissan’s American and Canadian customers. Technically, if the transmission of this vehicle has a high rate of failure, Nissan shall fully look after the cost of the replacement for both Americans and Canadians. In other words, I paid $3,818.15 for transmission replacement for my 2017 Nissan Rogue when the same repair for the same vehicle is completely free for Nissan’s American customers.

I wish there is a minus or ZERO for rating that I would rate Nissan Canada or Nissan Applewood dealership Richmond, BC.
Our family have been loyal to Nissan for over 30 years and purchased 10+ Nissan cars from Nissan dealership. The last one was a Pathfinder. Applewood Nissan miss diagnosed time chain issue 3 times over the 15 months period of time while still in warranty. After over $5000 every other repair, the warranty expired. They denied warranty or miss diagnose. Due to our loyalty to Nissan, the Nissan Canada and the dealership finally agreed to pay for the fraction cost of repairing the timing chain after us 2 months without the car. 2 weeks into repair, the dealership further told us the engine needs to be replaced, not just time chain issue now. The total cost for replacing the engine is $20,000, and Nissan or dealership will not provide a curtesy car during the repair. We end up paying $15,000 to replace a new engine +$2000 car rental after 3 months without a car.
Never ever Nissan.....
Poor quality and service
I have been driving Nissan Pathfinder since 2010 out of Canada but made a mistake to buy a 2022 Pathfinder again in Canada. Worst service during first year. Less than a year,
beginning of summer the AC stopped working and I am still waiting for Service center to provide parts and appointment to repair. I have to call them several times they promise to call back but nothing! I will never buy nissan and don't recommend others to do so!
Nissan is now the Japanese version of Chrysler
I bought 2 Nissan flagship vehicles in the last 5 years ONLY because they gave big discounts that made their vehicle cheaper than the competition in the same price class. That's where the positives end!
Nissan has chosen the Chrysler model of doing business - sell the vehicles cheaper then ding the customer for parts that are defective, wear out prematurely or rust away prematurely. So that's why Nissan is rapidly going down the scrap heap of brands together with Chrysler.
*They avoid honouring the warranty as much as they can, scaring you with a minimum service charge of $150 + HST if they deem the problem not to be a warranty issue or a wear and tear issue.
They use the worst tyres from Continental and other brands - that flat spot, wobble or go out of balance prematurely, requiring tyre changes.
The paint on underbody parts - such as brake rotors, cross arms, shocks, strut bars etc is so thin that everything starts rusting in 1 year after purchase of the car. So the life span of any Nissan is about 5 or 6 years before rust perforation of many body and suspension parts. NO OTHER manufacturer has this problem.
Nissan puts in absurd service issues to enable the dealers to ding you for unnecessary service. Premature oil changes at 6,000 or 8,000 km in the manuals are unnecessary and generate excess waste for the environment, Prescribed change of brake fluid every 15,000 km is unnecessary, absurd and outrageous. All other manufacturers prescribe fluid change at 100,000 km. Brake rotors rot away in the show room and wobble (need replacement) at 30,000 km or less.
I can go on and on, but long story short, the cheaper price at purchase is not worth the hassle if you typically keep your car for more than 4 years or 60,000 km.
Very poor service and warranty coverage
I own Two Nissans. One is a Versa Note and the other is a Sentra. Every time I bring the vehicles in for servicing, I'm confronted with a bill that should be covered under the warranty. I have to continually push back saying it's covered under a purchased 10 yr warranty (the reason why I purchased the vehicles in the first place). Continually it's a challenge to get them to honour the warranty.
To date, they have refused to cover a faulty timing belt, faulty breaks that only had 30k on them. Everything else was a fight to get them to cover it. I purchased both vehicles from Myers Kanata Nissan. This has gone on for some time now. This is not a one time experience.
Never Nissan again
I was told when I bought the car it had great intligent system. Safety features alarms for no reason all the time. Clocks constantly lose time. Braking system alarms sometimes but not all. It will be the time I need it to work and it won’t…… Malfunction in the system was supposedly to correct these issues when they replaced the camera. Which I had to argue with the dealer to replace it under warranty. Then they wanted a diagnostic fee to test it …No Way the car only had 8K km a few months old.. Just Horrible… First Nissan and LAST. Worst new vehicle experience ever.. Never had these issues with Toyota for 30+ years and numerous vehicles.. Thought I would try something different this time. Was that a mistake..
Customer left stranded with no assistance
A customer gets his Nissan service at Spruce Grove dealership who forget to put oil in it. When the customer called Nissan Roadside he is told it's not their problem and offered no assistance and left him stranded. Is this how you treat customers once they've paid they're money. I know I'll never buy a Nissan
Nissan held my truck hostage for a…
Nissan held my truck hostage for a month while the warranty ran out and then didn't do half of the work required. Stated they fixed one problem but did not. The reason they sate the work wasn't done is because they state there weren't any parts but the parts required are at other stealerships! Then they blamed Nissan customer care.
Satisfied
Been driving Nissans for 14 years, just purchased a new one. Good cars with great value, can't complain.
Bought a new 2021 Nissan Rogue
Bought a new 2021 Nissan Rogue. It currently has 20,000 kms. Had winter tires put on in the winter months so only about 10,000 on tires. Brought it into the dealership to have a service completed and I need new tires. Called Nissan Canada and sorry we cannot assist you
