Very impressed with my first introductory meeting with NEWCO representative. Knowledgeable, approachable and clarified issues I was unsure about around taxation.

NEWCO is the accounting firm for our small AL/Hostel projects in Porto da Cruz, and we couldn't be more grateful for their support. Coming from diverse backgrounds and different countries, our team had no prior experience in Portugal. A trusted accounting and corporate services firm on our side was an absolute lifesaver.

⚠️ A word of warning about NEWCO Portugal and its representatives Jéssica Freitas, the Head of Administrative Services, and André Gouveia Silva, their Executive Director.
We became clients in mid-2025 — a small company, two directors, consultancy services, four invoices per month.
Earlier this year we agreed a fee of €8,000 per annum — approximately €2,000 per quarter. Here is what we were actually charged:
❌ Q1 2026: €3,200 — 60% above the agreed rate
❌ Following 2 months: €3,500 — nearly double a full quarter's agreed fee
No prior notice. No explanation. No justification. Just invoices at whatever rate they felt like charging.
We raised this with the Portuguese accountancy regulator. They found no violation.
We call this a con and fraud. Others can draw their own conclusions.

Having a few companies globally and being on the market for nearly 5 decades, I have dealt with many professional service providers over the years. Unfortunately, NewCo Portugal ranks among the most disappointing experiences I have ever had.

We engaged NewCo based on a clear understanding regarding the annual cost of their accountancy services. What followed was a succession of invoices that bore little resemblance to what had been agreed.

We are a company with two directors, limited activity and only a couple of invoices per month, somehow this generated fees that escalated far beyond the original arrangement, with no meaningful warning, no proper explanation, no attempt to obtain approval.

The most concerning part was Newco’s attitude that we should simply accept whatever they are charged.

When we challenged the invoices, we received a cold reply from them…” we are not obliged to inform you that the fee….” Obviously the original fee agreement meant nothing!

My advice to anyone considering NewCo is simple choose somebody else!!
