My friend is having chemo and got a Nearby taxi from Newcastle city to her home - when she asked the driver if he could help lift her very light bag onto the pavement he refused point blank - sat there ignorantly! Disgusting service

The journey itself was fine but it was a return journey. On the way in I was charged £13 by Budget Taxis but £18 for exactly the same journey back by Nearby Taxis. I won't be using them again - what a rip-off.

Booked a taxi to the airport for a fixed price of £32. Booked via the app but also telephoned and received confirmation that the price, including airport drop off fee, would be £32. The driver tried to charge me the meter fare of £39.80. Told him I would only pay the agreed fixed fare of £32. Ended up having to call the taxi office and, when I eventually got through, spoke to two people who were of no assistance. One initially confirmed that the agreed fare was £32 but, after placing me on hold, tried to tell me the £32 fare was an estimated fare rather than a fixed fare, which was not correct. ( Had it been an estimated fare, which it wasn’t, the estimate was way off - 25% below the meter fare ). All the while, my flight time was getting nearer and the driver, who I do not think was at fault, was getting near to the 15 minute time limit on the drop off. In the end, the driver and I were left to sort it out between ourselves and I paid him £34. Nearby caused a lot of frustration and upset to both me and the driver. When I agree a fixed fare of £32 that it what I expect to pay. However, Nearby seem to think they can charge whatever they want. The customer service is completely hopeless. I have yet to determine whether this company is inherently dishonest or simply incompetent. I note that other people have had issues after agreeing what they thought were “fixed” fares. Either way, Nearby is best avoided in my view. The one saving grace is that I have not given them my bank details - having read the other reviews about Nearby, that would be a big mistake.

Id just like to say a big thank you to Lisa and also Gary. They’re usually the taxi drivers that come when I book a taxi. They are great with my daughter who has autism and when I need a pet taxi as well. There are others that have been helpful as well but Lisa and Gary are the ones that have helped us the most. We can’t use public transport as my daughter can’t cope with noise and lots of people. Everytime Lisa or gary pass us they wave or beep the horn.

Booked a taxi the day before for a morning pick-up to go to the train station precisely because this time is busy. On the day, received a phone call at least five minutes after scheduled pick-up time telling me there was no car. Too late to book another taxi at such a busy time so had to drive and pay for parking. No response to emails asking them to pay for the difference between parking charges and taxi.

If they confirm your taxi, don't believe it... Rang for a taxi at 9.05pm, confirmed for 10.15pm as per our request. Text confirmation and everything you'd expect for it, we thought everything was OK... We even decided against choosing UBER which is exceptionally reliable because we wanted to use a local company and support them... We didn't think anything else until we were 10 mins and then 15 mins and then 30 mins past our agreed time... Nothing turned up. Tried to ring so much but kept cutting off, eventually got though to someone and he was so rude. "well it's on its way, just delayed" "well we can't guarantee a time" "put up with it".... We're now writing this 40 mins past our taxi time and nothing. Last time I rang the guy he just hung up on me. Didn't give a care in the world. Honestly, these companies cry about uber taking their business and they can't compete... Well at least uber turns up. At least they don't hang up... Maybe this company should do better and agree to their bookings.

On Monday 18 th August having to get a nearby taxi to work in Gateshead unknown to myself I left my phone in taxi ,the taxi was driven by Shaun who realised it was my phone he kindly rang the shop where he dropped me off and asked if it was my phone , as he was back in the area I got the taxi from he added if I had a relative nearby ( no pun intended) and very kindly dropped my phone at relatives address .
This guy went above and beyond kindness so I'd like to thank him very much . This is my go to taxi firm any way and has been for a long time and I will continue use nearby

Avoid at all costs. This company don't stick to their agreed set fairs (airport transfers), they increase charges on the day of your journey, taking extra charges in Google pay (so clearly storing payment details in the app), and don't respond to written complaints. I'll be informing their licence operator.

This company will take money out even if a taxi is unassigned then charge double the cancellation fee. I rang up asking to cancel they said it was cancelled then they tried to charge £5. Rude staff didn't even which taxi provider was. Got pissed off when asked for a refund for seevices not provided mentioned FOS and hung up because I wasn't getting nowhere.

Absolute disgrace of a company! Booked taxi taxi driver came 15 min.later in result I have lost my train, I have tried to contact them to get my money back. No chance. Strongly do not recommend this taxi if you not want to be late.

I've just had a close encounter with your driver. In Newcastle, a byker. License number 856. He forced the right of way on a roundabout. We were travelling in the same direction for several streets. He didn't use his blinker when carrying a passenger. Such behavior, and even worse, is unfortunately the norm in your company. Every day I suffer sharing the road with your drivers.

Cars were ok.
Punctual.
My car was Dean taxis.
I was delivered close to my destination, not at it.
I accidently overpaid the driver& he chose to keep my money.
Stealing from elderly ladies is not a good quality in taxi drivers.

Excellent service. Pleasant drivers and spotless cars. Used 2 today and they were both on time. Will definitely use this taxi service again

Rude foreign drivers, can't follow a map and over charge for fares. Avoid at all costs.

I have end stage renal failure and this company has a deal to get all patients but they cancel all the time or never show up, this contract needs moving to a better suited company that will help the sick and vulnerable

The worst experience ever from the taxi driver who when questioned regarding the fare of which was for a vulnerable person with a learning disabilities and to why his price was £3 more than normal. He became aggressive,rude and not friendly at all. He drove away calling me a fat ....
He drove to the end of the street,got out of his taxi and asked me if I would like to have a go at him. Come on you fat .....were his words. I am so disappointed and distressed with this it's a wonder why I have not involved the Police. In future if this person reaffends he will be involved with the police. His behaviour is not acceptable.

We pre booked our taxi to the airport from South Shields at a fixed cost. The driver was talkative and friendly and we put the world to rights. His driving was excellent. He explained that if he dropped us off at a long stay carpark it would be £5 cheaper for us. As it was only a 1 minute walk we agreed , very helpful. Later we found out that the £5 drop off fee was part of the set cost.
Our return was also pre booked and nobody showed up, no txt nothing. I called and they hadn't sent anyone then they found someone and would be ten minutes so the taxi arrived after 20mis although it was already over 30mins late its now late at night we are tired and just want home.
Driver was polite however his driving was absolutely dangerous. Driving 85mph in a 70 , 65 in a 40 and 70 in a 50 and 50 in a 30. Its an accident waiting to happen!!
Never again will l use Nearby taxi service.

I’ve used Nearby taxi’s (LA, ACE, KENTON AND KINGSTON) for as long as I can remember, but have more recently been disappointed with some of my experiences. I’m a regular airport traveller and more than once have been asked by the driver, who makes no effort to move from his seat, to open the boot and put my case in as he watches on. Then yesterday I took and taxi and felt it was time to comment. The car was filthy and I mean to the point where if I’d been dressed up for an occasion I’d have refused to sit in it. The back seats had marks all over them. It looked like dried mud and the floor needed a good vacuum.
It’s a shame because over the years I’ve always felt Nearby was very reliable, have found the drivers, smart, helpful and friendly and the cars pristine. However, standards are definitely slipping, to the point where I might go elsewhere, which is a shame after years of fantastic service.

Rate a taxi that didn't show up for me and my 6 year old in the pouring rain!!!!! this was after a phone call from the driver to check destination and an automated message to tell me the taxi would be with me soon. Cheers nearby.

Didn't turn up woman cheeky as can be on fne and paid them the fair n the r not refunding so I booked a taxi for no reason just to get use back haha
