I would not recommend this service based on my experience.

I signed up with myStudentFinance because their website advertised fast-track support, faster processing times, proactive assistance, and responsive communication throughout the DUO application process. Unfortunately, my experience was very different.

In the end, I feel that I had to do almost everything myself through DUO anyway, as if I had never used myStudentFinance at all. At one point, they were unable to download documents that I had provided because of file size issues, meaning I had to send the documents directly to DUO myself. This completely defeated the purpose of paying for a service that claims to simplify and manage the process on behalf of students.

The advertised "Fast-Track" service never materialized in my case. I applied in September, but saw little meaningful progress for months. Although I eventually received payments in November, it was already apparent that those payments would stop again from December onward. Since then, the issues with my student finance were never properly resolved.

The most disappointing aspect was the lack of communication and follow-up. It felt as though my case received attention only until myStudentFinance had collected their €1,310 fee from the initial payment. After that, support became increasingly difficult to obtain, responses were slow or non-existent, and I was left to deal with the ongoing problems myself.

What makes this even more frustrating is that my partner applied through the same service under very similar circumstances and received continuous student finance payments without interruption. In my own case, the payments stopped, yet I never received a clear explanation as to why my situation was different or what actions were being taken to resolve it.

I understand that DUO ultimately makes the decisions regarding student finance. My criticism is not directed at DUO, but at the quality of service provided by myStudentFinance. The support, responsiveness, and case management I received fell far short of what was advertised.

To make matters worse, I submitted a formal complaint on 20 May 2026 and requested a response within 7 business days. As of 11 June 2026, I have still not received any response or acknowledgment.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this service.

Really recommended! I am always busy with my engineering degree and it is always good to see that there is someone who can take care of the application for study finances for you. The process seems complicated but they make it very smooth-running for you.

I had already been rejected once before finding them, so I was honestly frustrated and didn’t expect much anymore. They reviewed my previous application, explained possible reasons for the rejection, and hepled me prepare a much stronger submision with additional documents. A few months later I finally received approval

Support team was always available even in the evening whenever I needed help with DUO letters. They helped me gater income documents from my parents. Worth recommendation!

I moved to Netherlands completely alone and honestly had no idea how the Dutch student finance system worked. Every website seemed to give different information and the DUO requirements were extremely confusing, especially because my parents live abroad and some documents needed translations. They took care of this for me through every single step, explained which documents were needed and also checked everything before submitting. Without their help I probably would have delayed my application for months.

As a newcomer to the country, they make it very easy for you to go through all the bureaucracy. Fast and responsive support on WhatsApp. I have to say that, as a skeptical person, I was impressed by how professionally the mater was handled. Very high-quality service

Top quality help!!! As an international student at TiU working part-time while studying, I barely had time to understand all this bureaucracy. I first tried to do it myself but quickly got somewhat overwhelmed by all the different forms and requirements and letters. After using myStudentFinance, the whole process became much less stressful to me. They even told me how to maintain a sufficient work schedule to keep my finances!

Very in-deep explanation. As a student I had several questions about eligibility and documentation before starting my application and the explanations were clear and practical, which made the whole process much less intimidating for me. They also offered me a reapplication for free so you can really rely on their help for the whole year and they only charge you once.

First time I attempted to apply for basic grant myself, but I quickly realized how the system actually is. There are many rules and it’s not always clear what applies to internationals. After getting their help, the whole application became much easier to navigate and I finally understood what each part meant. Recommended!

Good job. The information online is honestly quite confusing and there are many different elements and conditions that are not easy to figure out at first. At some point I realized I probably need some help because I wasn’t even sure which parts I should apply for. They explained the system in a simple way. Instead of reading many different government pages I could actually understand how the different student finance components work and what might apply to my situation. That made the whole process much clearer. I also liked that nothing felt rushed and everything was explained before submitting the application. For something related to money and government procedures I think it’s important to understand what you are doing...

Good support! The student finance system in the Netherlands for EU students seems quite complex. After going through the process, I felt that everything was explained and in a way that was super easy to understand.

Happy I got quality help. I knew what information I needed to provide but het problem with income tax forms for my parents. I got approved within 5 weeks which is not that much based on stories I heard from people.

As a VU Amsterdam student, I was worried about submitting the wrong things. They reassured me, reviewed everything carefully, and helped me strengthen my file with extra supporting documents. Translation help was handled smoothly. Great experience overall.
