I am I am writing this review after I lost 1000 dollars
I am writing this review after my emotions have settled, but the facts remain the same: I lost about $1,000 because I booked my flights through MyTrip.
About a month ago, I had a flight from Calgary to Paris that was delayed for almost 4 hours. Because of this delay, I missed my next flight, which I had booked on the same day through MyTrip from Paris to Krakow. Despite the delay being beyond my control, MyTrip refused to change the date, refused to rebook, and offered no refund or even a partial credit. They didn’t even offer a 50% discount for a new ticket. I was simply left alone with the problem.
Later, I also missed another flight from Calgary to Paris, and again no money was refunded, no rebooking was offered, and no real help was provided. In total, I lost around $1,000 in just a few days. This is not a small amount of money — it was extremely painful and stressful.
What makes this even worse is their customer service. I contacted MyTrip 10–12 times. Every time, I spoke with different agents who had very strong accents and were extremely hard to understand. It felt like talking to robots who did not understand the situation and had no intention of helping. At one point, I was so overwhelmed that I cried on the phone asking for help — and still, no one cared.
MyTrip constantly shifts responsibility. They tell you to contact the airline, but the airline cannot find your booking, because you did not book directly with them. MyTrip does not provide a real airline ticket number — only a MyTrip order number, which is useless for airlines. As a result, you are stuck between MyTrip and the airline, and no one takes responsibility. MyTrip simply “washes their hands” once they receive your money.
I also contacted them regarding a tax refund, hoping to recover at least something. Their response was shocking: they said they are not sure whether the airline will refund anything, and if the airline does, MyTrip will keep 50% of the refund as a service fee, and only give me whatever is left. This sounds completely unfair and unacceptable.
I realized that while MyTrip may sometimes show cheaper prices, it is often safer and better to book directly with the airline. If I had booked directly, this situation would likely never have happened.
I want to warn others: do not fall for small savings. Saving $100 is not worth losing $1,000 later. There are many other platforms — or direct airline bookings — with much better, more humane customer service.
I deleted the MyTrip app, and my family and friends know about my experience. None of us will ever book through MyTrip again.
