Having been a long time customer of Montane and been generally satisfied with all their products I own I have to say my recent experience has fallen well short of expectations. I bought a Montane Gecko VP12 running pack 12 months ago. I bought it for an Ultra Race I have in May so up until early this year it's not been used much at all and is as new. However, the front pockets cannot be used as the internal zip seams are constantly getting stuck in the zip and have started fraying. I believe this to be a manufacturing fault. As their items have a 'lifetime' guarantee for this I wrote to them on 25th Feb and sent some pictures. They replied two days later requesting prook of purchase which I sent on 6th March. I heard nothing so e-mailed on 12th March to chase, reattaching the photos and proof of purchase. Still no reply. I therefore telephoned their helpline on Friday 20th March after still not hearing anything. Both times voicemail was on and as requested I left my name and number for a return call. However, my call was not returned. Therefore one month after raising the issue I am still awaiting contact for a resolution. I have heard nothing from then since 5th March despite chasing numerous times by telephone and e-mail.

The turn around was really fast and perfect repair.

Fast refund on returned goods. Ordered large, the card ticket said large but the actual item was medium so had to return. Re-ordered and had the correct item and refund within days.
Great product so was worth the bit of admin.

A good quality product that arrived very quickly. Appreciated the lack of plastic packaging. I have had one of these tops before and it has lasted several years and is still in use if a bit battered. I own several pieces of Montane clothing and have always been very happy with them.

I’ve been a loyal Montane customer since around 2012, and almost all of my hiking, trail running and outdoor gear is from them, which makes this experience particularly disappointing.

I returned a Minimus 2025 waterproof jacket under warranty due to seam tape failure within 12 months. While Montane eventually accepted the fault, the process has been slow throughout, with long delays in communication and no proactive updates.

The replacement jacket I received is simply not comparable to the original. The quality, material feel, fit and overall specification are noticeably worse, and key features (such as pockets) are missing. It is clearly a downgrade from the product I originally purchased.

What’s most frustrating is that I really valued my original jacket, and this outcome feels like I’ve been left worse off despite raising a legitimate warranty issue.

I’ve asked for my original jacket to be returned so I can arrange repair independently, and I’m currently waiting for a response.

This experience has seriously undermined my confidence in Montane as a brand, which is not something I expected after more than a decade as a customer.

I hope Montane will step in and resolve this properly.

Update 03/04/26 - Following my original review, Montane have now resolved this matter.

While my initial experience was frustrating due to delayed responses and lack of communication, I’m pleased to say the situation has been brought to a fair and satisfactory conclusion.

This has gone a long way towards restoring my confidence in the brand. That said, there is definitely still room for improvement in response times
