Metro at Yonge/ Eglinton centre are selling fresh meats not safe to eat, they just place a 30 % off discount tag to mislead customers and try to get rid of spoiled meats this way.
No delivery for the elderly
So you now have to know how to order online if you want to have your groceries delivered. The problem with this is that most seniors don't know how to navigate the www and no longer have the learning capacity to do so.
Consistently rude staff at Metro Shops at Don Mills
Today, at the Metro at the Shops at Don Mills, a woman staff person bothered me as I was about to pay at a self-checkout for no reason except she felt like it. She obviously doesn't care about losing sales because I walked out and bought nothing. She called me "honey" when I told her to leave me alone. I called the store manager and he acted like there were no problems even though anyone can see there are many problems based on the negative online remarks. I have now written twice to Metro at the corporate level to complain about the rude staff at this particular store that needs to be replaced by ANY other grocery chain.
Don't purchase from Food Basics or Metro
Company that owns Food Basics also owns Metro. On Feb 24 I was charged $121.50 for a $68.54 online purchase. Called immediately to get reimbursed the difference but rep said she would request refund for $117.87. Same situation occurred a couple of weeks earlier –Metro refunded the difference. Called Customer Service and sent emails multiple times. Issue has been in "Pending Refund" for 17 days as of today. There’s an issue weekly with my Metro/Food Basics purchases. In fact normally 20-40% of items are not available so I have to purchase up to 3 times weekly. They don't care about their customers. What can I do to get them to refund me the overpayment they charged? I have since opened a yearly PC Express pass for $29 for a year of unlimited deliveries. Haven't experienced any issues. Loblaws, No Frills is much better experience on website no issues.

I have ordered online groceries and picked the express delivery option since I needed some of the items asap. Well most of the items were missing from my order.
Called and ask for explanation. I told that delivery person didn’t even communicate to replace the missing items. The customer service said sorry and told me I will receive $$ as compensation. Never received anything.. I should have read the reviews before ordering.

Metro has a sale on pork butts and pork legs for a 2 week lock down only to run out and not get any more just 5 days into the sale. Wow it’s a ploy just to get you into the store so disappointed!

HR needs to rethink their hiring practices, especially the individuals they hire for the customer service desk.
The New Barrie store has the worst customer service I ever experienced.
The woman at this desk (Connie) needs either to be retrained or placed in a different job which does not involve customer service.
This individual does not have the personality traits to deal with customers in any capacity/role, which in return is very bad for your company.

Went to buy fresh seafood at the Sheridan Mall store and the seafood department did not smell fresh at all.
Had a off odor and so I left and went to another store.
Overall Lousy Service and Pricing
I have used their delivery service occasionally when I have been ill always with significant disappointment! As much as a third of my order is out of stock, online ordering is difficult when many items I know are in store are not online! Often they mislabel or overcharge, I.e. selling “side ribs” as “back ribs” and charging the higher price? One must decide between meat department is stupid or store is corrupt? I do not tip for delivery when I do not receive my full order! This is a large grocery and items should never be out of stock!

Disrespectful Conduct at Deli Counter
A coworker visited your store to purchase prepared chicken from the deli.
While placing her order, the deli staff member made remarks mocking her accent. As she was leaving, he also stated, “Happy Holidays, even though you won’t be celebrating.” These comments were inappropriate, disrespectful, and made her feel uncomfortable and singled out.
Customers should feel welcome and respected regardless of accent, background, or personal beliefs. This interaction fell short of that expectation.
In future I'd like to ensure all customers are treated with professionalism and courtesy moving forward.
BEWARE of Metro's Offer to buy UNLIMITED DELIVERY PLANS
On Sept 20 I purchased the six month unlimited delivery for six months from Metro, along with my groceries. This cost $25.74 + tax. It will expire Mar 20, 2026. On Nov 14th, I put an order in for same day delivery ($11.99) that was covered under this purchase.
My on-line receipt showed "estiimated total" $99.36
'HST' $1.38 RED $ .60 TIP $5.00. These four figures total $106.34, however that was not the total Metro showed. They had these four figures totally $118.33. when subtracting the right amount from the escalated amount the difference is $11,99. Had I not noticed this, I would have paid twice for same day delivery, as this was already covered with my 6 month plan purchase. What is astounding to realize is it was clear that the word "Delivery" was not placed on this receipt, yet the amount for delivery was silently added in to the amount owing. This was in error, and it had to be intentional, as no software would be capable of removing the descripton of a post, and at the same time adding the amount in. BEWARE OF THIS UNACCEPTABLE LACK OF INTEGRITY. You are reading this here, because I approached metro by email, letting them know if I wasn't responded to, or given the refund, this post would be made on their website. They did not acknowledge my message, or address the problem. I couldn't help but notice all of the negative postings for this grocer, as opposed to positive remarks. I'm through with them, and all that deal with them, you need to double check all of your receipts carefully. This is hidden financial and illegal manipulation. I even offered them the chance to prove to me that I was wrong (which I knew they couldn't do). Proof of what took place was evident and they did not even acknowledge any of my messages. Choose another grocer!

Generally over priced. And when they're is a deal on , when you go to get said deal, they never have the deal... probably never had said product/ deal to begin with IMO.
