Just a couple months ago I found a pair of earrings from this shop. As a person who is very principled when it comes to ethically sourced products and values transparency, I was super excited to finally find a seller who shares the same beliefs. And guess what, a couple months later, i find the EXACT same pair of earrings on another dropshipping website from ebay which is selling them for 3 times cheaper ($13.98). Another "Search this Image with Google Lens" away, and you find that these are a mass-produced chinese product, selling on TEMU for $5.
We can all agree that this is not the biggest crime out there, but the seller claims on their profile: "I work closely only with small artisan goods makers abroad who are able to turn my ideas into reality and to share with you wonderful things from around the world. None of my newly made products are mass produced and I don't work with faceless companies.
In my reading, that gap touches at least four distinct areas of consumer protection law: misrepresentation of a product's commercial origin, misrepresentation of its method of manufacture, failure to disclose country of origin on an imported good, and false advertising as against sellers who genuinely do source the way this shop claims to. It also appears inconsistent with this platform's own handmade and production-partner disclosure rules.
I'm not stating a legal conclusion — that's for a regulator. I'm stating what I paid for, what I received, and why the difference matters to anyone buying here specifically because it isn't
