Terrible experience, avoid! Not surprised to find out that Marshall Gorman was prosecuted by Trading Standards in 2010 for rogue trading. Gorman also runs the UKs biggest illegal tip. How does he sleep at night, shameful.

Here im thinkin he is a builder, but no, he is a demolisher, make a complaint and he threatens to smash your house 🤡🤡🤡 no but seriously when does this 🤡 get out of goal coz i need a sunroom smashed in 🤣🤣🤣

One of the employees here really hates disabled people. He told one to kill themselves after posting hate speech on Facebook about wheelchair adapted vehicles and how all disabled people should drive in unsafe, three wheel cars, all in one colour so people know they're disabled. Sounds like 1940s Germany...

The finished job is brilliant, the working guys worked very hard and did a great job and the finished article looks great, just what we hoped but communication was very poor with the boss. I didn't know when the job was going to be started so I contacted the firm to be told they would get back to me in a couple of days,the the following morning at 7.15 had a phone call to say the guys were on their way
Anyway the jobs done and we're happy

I got my driveway put down in resin at first it looked great now the manholes are cracked and half way across the driveway is cracked. Would not recommend also the after service from Marshalls does not exist

Awesome team of builders and they did a great job and should complete the work ahead of schedule - therefore cannot fault the guys or their workmanship at all.

This billing / quote issue aside they would have got five (5) stars.

However, the quote we feel was misleading!

The quote in writing does not mention that there was VAT to add "It was silent on VAT" which as a residential customer is misleading and means the final invoice is 20% more than expected!

Its a really poor quoting and billing practice for residential customers - for B2B its expected the quote is +VAT but for residential most people expect the quote to be the final bill (agreed extras exempting) unless stated otherwise.

Maybe Marshalls should consider adding the words on the quote document "all prices are plus VAT" it would save customers feeling misled.

If the quote is silent on VAT and does not explicitly state that it is exclusive of VAT, it is reasonable to assume that the price quoted includes VAT. "Ours was the later Silent on VAT"

Legal Obligations for VAT Disclosure:
Under UK consumer law, businesses are required to be transparent about pricing. Failing to mention that VAT is not included could be a breach of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

Raise the Issue with the Builder:
Politely point out that VAT was never mentioned in the quote or any prior communication and that, as a residential customer, you assumed the price included VAT. Request clarification on why VAT has been added now and why it was not disclosed earlier.

Seek a Resolution:
Propose a compromise, such as splitting the unexpected VAT cost if the builder insists the original quote was ex-VAT. If the builder refuses to adjust the bill, you can remind them of their obligation to provide clear pricing information under UK law.

Seek Advice if Necessary:
Contact Citizens Advice or Trading Standards for guidance if you feel the builder is being unreasonable. If the issue cannot be resolved amicably, you may need to consider formal action, such as mediation or a small claims court case, but this should be a last resort.

From my very first interaction with Kieran to when the lads completed my driveway I was delighted with the professionalism and knowledge of the team. Great Service, Good Job and would highly recommend them.

We recently bought a cottage in Stroud that had a poor driveway. It was difficult to get on and off with a narrow access up a steep ramp, as well as an uneven surface that caused your car to rock from side to side as you drove over it.
We had a few quotes to renovate the driveway to fix all of these issues. Marshalls were the most competitively priced and also came up with the best ideas to fix the problems, so we chose them for the project and we're glad that we did.
They turned up on time every day, all the guys worked flat out and everyone was polite and professional. They completed the project in just 4 days (when other companies charging more quoted 2 weeks!) and the final product is top quality.
We couldn't be happier with our new driveway and very thankful to everyone at Marshalls for all their hard work. We highly recommend them.

On reviewing the website I was pleased to see a number of very good reviews as well as a gallery of photo evidence of their work. I was impressed by their health and safety policy and their environmental stance.
The chaps who came out to do the work did the company proud. They worked diligently and methodically. They actually finished the work a day early. They were always polite and respectful while being friendly. I'm very pleased with the end result and I would recommend Marshalls to anyone wanting any work done that they offer.

The guys have just finished my drive and parking bay in coleford, very pleased with the results , they arrived early on the day they said they would , they worked hard, no gassing on there phones , no swearing, a good bunch ! Would certainly recommend

The work was done to a very high standard, on the exact date they said it would be and the speed and efficiency of the team was incredible. They laid the whole driveway in a day and the dropped kerb was done especially well. Lorraine in the office was also exceptionally helpful with getting through the paperwork for a dropped kerb.

New patio, Cotswold stone wall, new Cotswold shingle driveway, granite sets across gateway. Amazing workmanship, professionalism, care, communication and price.
