Marcus confirmed he accepted Cyclescheme (as advertised), then didn't reply when I asked how to reserve a bike while my certificate was being processed. A follow-up email was also ignored.

A week later I tried WhatsApp instead and got an immediate reply. He said bikes could "sometimes" be reserved, but first needed to know how I intended to pay. When I mentioned Cyclescheme, communication stopped again. A follow-up WhatsApp message was also ignored.

Cyclescheme takes a commission, so I understand why a dealer might prefer direct-paying customers when business is good. However, across two separate attempts to purchase a bike, communication stopped once Cyclescheme was mentioned.

Update: The owner contacted me after this review, apologised for the poor communication, and offered a resolution. Ultimately I decided to buy a new bike directly from Brompton, but I appreciate that he tried to make it right.

I contacted 3 different online platforms to sell my Brompton bike and Marcus bikes shone out. They responded quickly and politely, offered by far the best price, and organised the collection efficiently. Top marks for Marcus!

Good website, easy to follow links etc. Any questions or queries were dealt with quickly.
Selling the bike was easy. Clear instructions and quick response to my advert was excellent. A fair valuation was offered and agreed upon, followed by quick payment. They then made the arrangements for collection quickly, this occurred seamlessly.
I would use them again, no question.

We sold a Brompton to Marcus Bikes last week.
They gave us a veery good price and were a joy to deal with. I would strongly recommend Marcus and his crew.

We sold a bike to Marcus' Bikes recently and found it to be a very straightforward process, with good communication throughout. The bike was sent via courier (all arranged for us) and we did not even need to parcel it up. When it was received, we were contacted and then sent payment via bank transfer. This is a quick, efficient and easy way to sell a bike.

Purchased an sworks sl7 from Marcus bikes.
Brilliant seevice and very friendly.
Bike as advertised and super happy with it.

The experience selling my Brompton to Marcus was incredibly smooth. I reached out for a quote one evening. The next morning Marcus came back to me with a price which I agreed to and an hour later the courier had arrived to pick up the bike. Payment was sent as soon as the bike arrived at Marcus' shop.

I would definitely recommend Marcus to anyone looking to sell or trade in their bike. The process is stress free and smooth.

Thanks again Marcus!

First class, efficient service dealt with Marcus himself. He organised the collection of two Brompton bikes from Lancashire and we received the payment the following day. Couldn’t have been better.

I've taken my bike here for services (and a replacement wheel when one was stolen just before Christmas) and every time they are excellent. The bike rides like a dream after a service, compared to others that I've used in the past when oftentimes it didn't seem as though much had been done at all. They always take the time to talk through what they recommend doing before doing anything as well. Really recommend.

Looking for a reputable place to sell my Brompton, I wasn't sure about this place but reached out. I was reassured by the prompt and efficient messages from Marcus as well as a competitive offer.

And when it came to the actual sale itself, it was a very straightforward process. They did a test ride and then sorted out payment there and then so I had confirmation of funds before leaving.

As/when I upgrade my bike, I would definitely come back here to sell my next Brompton.

Absolutely brilliant experience. I cannot recommend Marcus' Bikes more highly!

Marcus and his team provided a fantastic service and purchased a Speciliazed bike at a good deal. Would use them everytime! Paul

I sold Marcus Bikes my very best bike as I really needed the safety of a reputable business vs the minefield out there. Marcus was able to get close to my target price and everyone was very nice in the shop, so I left happy and can totally vouch for them. I’ll be back to buy one day I’m sure.

Wonderful service, kept me informed the entire time from order to delivery and provided me with a beautiful bike

Excellent overall services provided by Marcus Bikes. Good price given for my two Brompton Bikes and promptly picked up from my home by delivery company. Would recommend.

First class service from first Facebook message to riding away with a great new bit of kit - Marcus and the team not only talked me through the specifics of a number of bikes, but took the time to set it up for me to give the ideal ride position.

I was impressed with the detailed talk through of the bike before purchasing, and felt they were giving honest answers to my many questions. Not to mention the thousands I saved buying refurbished!

The bike has been a dream to ride so far and feels brand new.

I can't imagine buying a bike new ever again, and will certainly look to Marcus when I upgrade again in the future. I look forward to heading back for its first service.

Thanks!

Really smooth transaction, the team talked me though the whole process. The mechanics in store were extremely friendly and happy to chat about my own riding and the bikes they had in store. Will definitely be returning for my next one !

I purchased a used bike from Marcus Bikes and I found the entire experience to be both seamless and speedy. Great service and I feel my 'new' bike is excellent value. I would highly recommend this business and am now wondering why I have spent so much in the past on new bikes! Thanks to Marcus and team for all your help. I am a returning customer and I think that speaks volumes.

I recently bought a second hand Brompton from Marcus and I couldn't be more pleased. I chatted beforehand and was able to pay a deposit to reserve the bike so I could come to the shop for a test ride. I've never had a Brompton before and Marcus was really friendly and knowledgeable, and talked me through the features and spec of the bike, how to fold/unfold etc. The bike was in great condition, and I was able to cycle away there and then. 10/10 would recommend, couldn't be happier with my purchase!

Super selling experience if you want to sell your Brommie.

Marcus was helpful and quick in his responses and organised pick-up of my 3 C-Line brommies.

Following the an inspection of my 3 bikes Marcus offered a very good deal, better than I was expecting!

It’s really great doing business with Marcus! So many companies mess you around these days with an estimate or change their mind in person which leads to time wasted. You won’t get that from Marcus!

Great service! Highly recommended!
