Absolute rubbish customer care service

Absolute rubbish customer care service, Manhattan SX 1TB went wrong and eventually got a post free to send it back after supplying screen shots and trying their work arounds and a promise of a replacement. Now weeks on and no replacement, cannot talk to customer care on phone as not their initial contact, as contact was made by email at their request for screen shots etc and had to go back via email, all one gets is the run around, now looking at taking legal advice after trading standards appointmant.

So called repair

After my previous review I got the TR2 back. Now there was no information on what repair had been done but I am sure it is a replacement. However it is not working after a week. If it is a replacement then the freezing, switching off and not recording must be endemic. If it was actually even looked at, then that's all the repairer did, had a squint at it. I am not amused at all. If I phone again I will likely get the same jobsworths as before. I will try again to ask what they are going to do for me but I don't hold out any hope at all.

Manhattan T3-R box issues.

After originally buying a Manhattan T3-R box, the hard drive failed to play any recordings after 3 months, and the Manhattan helpline advisor told me that the box had to be rebooted, meaning I lost all previous recordings. Other issues were that it sporadically failed to record series linked programme, and the remote control would, when clicking on to the recordings folder, the cursor used to go rapidly up and down the recorded programmes, making it virtually impossible to stop on a required recording to play. Also the remote on/off button would randomly light up blue by it's self. A replacement remote control was bought and sorted out the previous remote controls's issues, until that also became dysfunctional 9 months later. It also should be noted that Manhattan did not do many updates for the T3-R, which probably would have dealt with many of the issues raised. It is also worth noting that the T3-R box is now discontinued, so be careful if buying this box at a reduced price/stock clearance, ''Buyer be ware''. Personally, if I was forced to buy this T3-R box again?, I would use it only as a square frisbee. Best regards.

What can I say I had a problem with my freeview box and contacted Abdul via email had a swift response told him my problem he sent me a USB stick with a return payed for envelope I inserted the stick in the box an followed the simple instructions and 5 minutes later I was up and running again very very good customer support and before you ask no I'm not in any way anything to do with manhatten just a very happy customer thank you once again abdul

Manhatten sx freesat box

Do yourself a favour and purchase a tv with freesat built in, these boxes aren’t built to last. Box is just under 2 years old and has developed a fault. Only used in a spare room so minimal usage. Whilst customer service will reply, it’s anything but their products fault, they will blame faulty connections, your dish is too old etc. Box doesn’t work on either of the dishes lines, however my freesat tv does. Cheaply made in the Far East, will not last, avoid.

Hi I would like to thank all the Manhattan support staff for there help in getting my T3R box up and working again. I know there have been lots of problems with the software in these boxes and it can be very frustrating but there is always been help at Manhattan support just a phone call for help. My box had the extended 2year warranty and I have contacted them for help many times always helpful to resolve problems. Two weeks ago my box died contacted support they sent me details to return box to them I had to pay to return box but the service I received was excellent, box returned within 6 days now up and working as should. We as customers have to work together to make things better Thank You Abdul and Laila for your help Peter Smart

Not very reliable.

This box is constantly freezing. When this happens there is nothing you can do, the remote is rendered useless so needs to be turned off at the mains. The company said l should do a factory restore which l have done several times but it doesn't take long for the box to freeze up again. It says that you can record 2 channels while watching a 3rd! Only sometimes. If 2 recordings start while you are actually watching the 3rd then it is fine, but if you try to change the channel you are watching, you can't unless you stop one of the recordings. It is still under warranty but help is in short supply at Manhattan.
Don't buy one!

Clueless

Contacted Manhattan direct for information on a product I wanted to buy. They were clueless and don't even know what they make or sell.
I even sent them their advert details, a photo and their own product code. They didn't know and told me to go ask a shop. Totally useless, so lost confidence in buying from them.

No quick way to resume playback.

Fairly happy with TR3, but you can't resume a playback without trawling all through the library to find it. When doing this quickly the screens change faster than I can read them!
I've got 500gb so it must be a nightmare with 1000!
Very bad design fault.

Excellent Technical Support

Contacted Tech support on behalf of an 86 year old gentleman with memory issues and who had caused his box to breakdown. I am super impressed with the help that I received. The advisor was extremely patient and given that the 86 year old gentleman was constantly interrupting and pressing buttons on another remote as I was in conversation, he was so kind and understanding. He got the box working again and has made an old man very happy.

Forget this box, spend your money on a decent one

I bought this topbox due to the reviews. I now know that they were false, probably written by the manufacturers.
The issues I find is when I see the programme that is recorded and is in two parts, I play the first part and attempt to play or find the 2nd part, lo and behold, it isn’t listed-just disappeared. Also the box turns on, or boots, a few minutes later it turns off, very annoying.

Just locked up and will not restart.
Very disappointing.
Just into the 2nd year but didn’t register the free cover as honestly had trust they’d honour it if any issues - they would not.
Avoid as this is not a consistent product for the price.

T3R unreliable!

Bought the T3R as it was supposed to be the best, but after using it for a period of time it has been unreliable, resets constantly, locks up, forgets to let me know a program has started. Other issues are that it was expensive for poor performance and the remote control is poor ergonomically e.g. remote shape is wrong you don't know the top from bottom, so instead of turning channel over, volume goes down.

Terrible support from Manhattan.

I am on my 4th Manhattan T3-R box now. Each one has lasted a few months, then the picture starts to pixilate badly, so badly in fact you can no longer watch TV via the T3 Box. Manhattan Support are totally useless, they just don't want to know and will blame it on everything but the box. Thankfully I bought via Currys and they have been great, they swapped each one with no questions asked. So in essence the 2yr warranty that Manhattan give you is a total waste of time.
If this 4th box starts to pixilate I will return it and buy an alternative make Freeview Recorder.

Excellent technical support

I called them twice about my new Freeview box. Technical support were exceptional. The phone was answered quickly and the person was helpful and knowledgeable.

Bought the T2-R from ebay and it worked…

Bought the T2-R from ebay and it worked fine for a couple of weeks. In the meantime spoke to Manhattan Support who suggested I got the T3-R if I wanted catchup which I did. A couple of weeks down the line the T2-R plays up. Rang Manhattan Support. The person I spoke to did everything he could to say the problem was ours. The aerial must be the problem although every other TV and set-top box worked fine. In fact the T2-R and T3-R were intended to replace the BT Freeview boxes which are working fine. Became obvious the warranty was worthless and Manhattan have little intention of replacing or fixing their boxes. You try to buy British and this is what you get. Poor product and extremely poor support.
