Thank you for your further feedback. We do feel it’s important to clarify a few points for transparency.

The original quote was based on the iMac being submitted as a Grade A machine. During inspection, the device was found to have screen burn, which automatically places the machine into a Grade C category under our grading criteria, regardless of upgraded specifications such as RAM or SSD capacity.

In addition, there was a £40 deduction for the missing Apple keyboard and mouse, which are required accessories for iMac trade-ins and are outlined in our grading information.

You are absolutely correct that breaking a machine down and selling the RAM, SSD, and components individually can sometimes achieve a higher total return. However, that also involves significantly more time, effort, listing fees, postage costs, buyer risk, and technical work. Our service is designed as a quick, hassle-free trade-in option with collection, testing, and fast payment included.

We also reject the suggestion that devices are “dumped” when returned. Returned items are repackaged and sent back via courier, and we’re sorry if the condition of the packaging on return did not meet your expectations.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry you’ve come away frustrated from the experience, but we’d like to clarify the situation.

When your laptop was assessed, the only deduction noted on the technician report was for a missing charger. The condition and grading of the laptop itself matched your description, and all functions were working correctly.

When the revised offer was sent showing the charger deduction, your response was simply to request the return of the item. At no stage prior to the return being completed was the missing charger queried or disputed.

We have since located your later email, which unfortunately was not linked correctly to the original support thread and therefore was missed initially — we apologise for that delay in response.

However, based on the technician report and intake records, we did not receive a charger with the device, which is why the deduction was applied in the first place. As a result, we are unable to investigate this matter any further.

We’re sorry the experience did not meet your expectations.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry you were unhappy with the revised valuation and return process, but we’d like to clarify the reasons behind the regrade.

The iMac was originally submitted as a Grade A device. Our Grade A criteria requires the machine to be in excellent condition with minimal signs of use and no display defects. During inspection, our technicians noted the following:

Condition identified:

Light scratches on the rear casing
Screen burn visible in the bottom left of the display

In addition, the iMac arrived without the keyboard and mouse, which also results in standard deductions as outlined in our grading criteria.

Most importantly, any visible screen burn automatically places an iMac outside Grade A or B condition and requires it to be regraded to Grade C, regardless of RAM or SSD upgrades. While upgraded components such as additional RAM and SSDs do add value, the overall resale grade is still heavily impacted by permanent display defects.

We also want to clarify that the revised valuation was not based on “hoping you’d accept,” but on the condition and completeness of the device received versus the original submitted grade. You were under no obligation to proceed and chose to have the device returned free of charge.

It’s also important to note that throughout this process, all costs are covered by us — including courier collection, packaging, testing, administration, and return shipping — even where a device has been incorrectly graded in the original submission.

We take comments regarding staff conduct seriously, as professionalism is important to us, and we’re sorry if you felt the interaction did not meet expectations.

We stand by the grading assessment, but we appreciate your feedback and are sorry the experience did not meet your expectations.
