It was great for a while but

It was great for a while but one day, I tried to log in to an internet required game, but the internet was off. I thought "Huh that funny. Lets see whats going on" The internet was off. Never in my life has that ever happened. The internet usually was great. No random shutoffs, or anything. Except that day. The internet was off for HOURS. We don't know why off shut off randomly, but we switched.

I have a wifi extender EX3700 which dumped Internet connection

I have a wifi extender EX3700 which inexplicably dropped connection with my internet. I struggled trying to reconnect so tried their web chat. was told I would be contacted by a technician within 25-30mins. After almost an hour and a half I recontacted them for an update to be told the technician was busy and someone else would ring. About another 20mins later I received a call from someone in the USa who took control of my computer to sort the problem. After a few minutes he told me there were 43 people logged into my internet (absolute rubbish) and it would cost me $150 to clear it off. I told him I ran Norton and my internet is password protected but he said people from china had software to overcome all that. When I refused to pay he cut me off. Unbelievable! Absolute garbage customer support in my opinionj

I purchased a CM600 modem from Netgear…

I purchased a CM600 modem from Netgear a little over 2 years ago to be used with a new Comcast Xfinity ISP account (with no phone or TV - just the internet). My service has been quite poor and after this virus hit my service has been unusable much of the time. It seems to get better when I reboot the router and Comcast says the router has failed. I'm not sure - it seems relatively new. I tried to ask Netgear, through their site, but they only give support if the product was purchased in the last 90 days. I wanted to give Netgear a chance to tell me if their product may have failed but it looks like they have no interest if the product is over 90 days old. I think I'll try an Arris.

Assuming this was ligitimate. I was informed that my computer had been hacked and asked to pay to fix! Contacted
Netgear and after explaining situation I was just blocked! I do not know if it was clone site or genuine. Netgear were no help whatsoever. Be warned!

I was really struggling to understand…

I was really struggling to understand some of the terminology and the different technology while trying to adapt under restrictions of Covid-19 - moving the business to an annex at the house, the children on their iPads and my wife on a Netflix binge and with 4 mobiles all at home at the same time, the bandwidth and coverage was all putting a strain on my 2010 kit. I googled for days picking up bits'n'pieces here and there but then came across an opportunity to ask a question on a Netgear technician. I filled the form in, and within 10mins, I received a call from Joe Goodyer. He answered all my questions in plain, simple English and then emailed me the answers with links to different items we had discussed. We have since corresponded on 3 different occasions and each time Joe has come back with simple answers, an explanation and maybe 2 or 3 options.I can not praise him and Netgear enough. The only down side, to date, Netgear have had over £1500.00 from me (Don't tell my wife :))

As a lot of other people have said - the customer service is bad. I just wanted to update my wifi booster. Forgot my login details and answered both security questions correctly only for it to tell me that both answers are wrong, even though I made the answers myself. Got in touch with Netgear without any resoution

Terrible company...

Purchased a NightHawk router after contacting Netgear to check it would be the right item for my needs.

It doesn't work as expected. Contacted support. Spent an hour trying to resolve only to be told it was faulty and needed to be returned. Returned it to Amazon and got a replacement with exactly the same issues.

Called support again. Kept on hold for most of an hour while they contacted 2nd line support only to tell me this network extender wasn't compatible. I got a little irate and stressed that I'd already been told that it WAS compatible.

Further time on hold and then I'm told it is compatible. Taken through steps to install it and it still doesn't work.

Asked to speak to 2nd line support. Told they'd call within 8 hours. Two days later nothing.

This company are THE WORST at supporting their products. I'll never buy Netgear again. Utterly abysmal

I was not upset at netgear originally

I was not upset at netgear originally, they shipped the product on time however, fedex lost it (tried to say they delivered it, thank the lord for cameras). That is where my issue with netgear turned south.
They acted like I was perpetrator of some great coup to steal a device that has a serial number and can be deactivated remotely. I uphelp my end of the business arrangement where I pay for the item. They subbed out the delivery to fedex and got screwed HOWEVER, not in their eyes. I am the one that trusted them to uphold their end and I got the shaft.
One solution netgear offered was that I purchase another one and when I recieved it, let them know and they would refund the first. I asked of they would ship fedex again and they would not answer...
This company had an opportunity to do the right thing and stand by a customer but they choose not to. They are at 18.15 per share as I type and I tell you that I think they are overvalued.... Sell sell sell is all I can say

Bought a RAX80 in November 2019

Bought a RAX80 in November 2019. All appeared to work fine. In February 2020 upgraded broadband from BT Infinity to Zzoomm. Zzoomm's supplied hub getting download speeds of 140mbps, while my expensive (4 month old) Netgear RAX80 is apparently only capable of getting 94mbps.

After ages on the phone to Netgear they assure me that there is nothing wrong with my router and that it is my broadband provider that is the issue - despite my repeated assurance that there is nothing wrong with the connection (as the hub provided by Zzoomm is getting 140+ download speeds only minutes apart from the RAX80 only getting 95mbps. The amazingly helpful (not) call centre operative tells me that that they can do more diagnostics (including resetting my hub (which I have already done) but that they will charge me $100 if they fix the problem.

The fact that the hub is only a few months old and that the problem is clearly with their hardware (not the ISP) appears irrelevant to them. They hang up on me when I point this out.

Rude and hopeless customer service for what was a new and expensive product. DO NOT BUY NETGEAR. They will let you down.

Fantastic hardware ruined by unacceptable support and buggy firmware

Netgear's support plan is quite frankly unacceptable. They offer a short support period for a few months, but any issue after that and you have to pay for a service agreement.

I own a Nighthawk R8000 and a Nighthawk R7000, both of which have an unbelievable number of firmware issues. Each firmware upgrade from Netgear fixed one bug and creates 3 more. Both of these routers were over £100, so I do not expect features as important as Quality of Service to not work on a router designed for high traffic networks.

I cannot believe that Netgear are allowed to get away with the level of service they provide - it's quite frankly disgusting.

Avoid Netgear products at all costs. Your money is much better spent elsewhere.

DON'T BUY ORBI

DON'T BUY ORBI. For my particular wifi needs and house setup, I was recommended by Netgear to buy the Netgear Orbi RBK20. I bought it and regret it. The wifi signal does not cross even the glass doors to the terrace situated 50 cm away from the router, it also does not cross 7 cm thick concrete walls. No wifi outside, not possible to install a satellite in the basement and a very limited area to place the satellite upstairs. It works worse than my internet provider's standard router. Ridiculous!
Long exchanges with support always comes down to nothing makes it better and them saying the router works as per regulations so the problem is my house setup... as if it was much different from any house. Ridiculous!

Waste of time, they don't care.

Purchased a Netgear Nighthawk D7000v2 router in April 2019. Started having issues a few months ago and even a firmware upgrade didn't solve the issue. Router keeps randomly crashing. Spoke to Netgear and they couldn't care less, they keep trying to tell me its a technical problem and they want to charge me! The router cost me £140 only 6 Months ago and they wont let me send it back to them under the hardware warrenty because they say its a technical issue which i have to pay extra for! There is alot of known issues with this router where they crash but this bloke won't accept that. what a waste of money this is turning out to be will never use a Netgear device again after this

I purchased a D7000v2 in April 2018

I purchased a D7000v2 in April 2018. I set it up as modem/router and all worked well. I am now trying to use the USB ports to attach USB disk drives that can be accessed from ther network dvices (media and computer). Almost every device (pen drive or hard drive) has not been recognized as a USB disk drive. I did manage to get two ancient 1gb USB 2 sticks to be recognized and become available over the network (alright for storing 10 albums). I tried the following (in the USB2 and USB3 ports) with no success:

1/ Transcend 32gb USB3 pen drive - FAT32.
2/ Transcend 16gb USB3 pen drive - FAT32.
3/ Seagate 500gn USB2 portable drive - FAT32.
4/ Samsung USB3 M3 1tb portable drive - NTFS.
5/ Samsung USB3 M3 2tb portable drive - NTFS.

It would not recognise any of the above but all of them worked perfectly well with my Windows based PCs. The Transcend sticks work with my Huawei router, Raspberry PI and Nexus 7. I then noticed that Netgear only provide free support for 90 days.

It appears that the D7000v2 loves ancient USB devices but has major problems with anything modern.

If anyone in Netgear has any ideas how to solve this issue please let me know.

Having used a lot of Netgear kit (modems, routers, bubs, switches, wireless pickup points etc) in the past (I sell and configure networks) I am very dissapointed in this item and cannot recomend it to anyone (may be my worst enemy).

Reading the rest of this review forum it apears that I am not alone.

support is appalling

support is appalling. level 1 support cant fix. promise a level 2 support tech will phone back...never phoned back. i have been through this routine 5 times in the past 48 hours...always told "i have escalated this to a senior level and they will phone you back at X time on your telephone number which i will check with you"...no one ever phones back. i phone back, i have to explain the whole set of problems again. they apologise again for no one bothering to phone back, and tell me they will escalate to a senior technician...and so it goes. hate this - will return router and never touch them again

Great hardware let down by Netgears bad firmware and support

Great hardware let down by bad firmware. The latest line of XR gaming routers is a great example, they cost the earth, the XR500 has had one update in since December 2018, which took 8 months to arrive and fixed very little. This router still does not support IPv6 which even cheap BT routers do. You get a measly 90 days tech support, then you are on your own but support is so bad you are on your own anyway pretty much. Thankfully there are some good help forums like smallnetbuilder. Netgear don't read your emails, you get generic replies from support and end up going round in circles and some parts of their firmware are 10 years old, yes firmware that's 10 years old in the latest routers costing hundreds, this is why so many people write third party code for Netgear routers. Unless you are prepared to invalidate your warranty to get good firmware Look elsewhere, which is a shame as the routers are well made.

No support

Just bought router R7800 & modem DM200 and I can't connect them to my network server. Desperate for some setup support and there is zero help. The community doesn't reply and there are no numbers to call.
I'm re boxing the equipment to get my money back.
DO NOT BUY NETGEAR EQUIPMENT unless you're a total IT Pro

Purchased a "nighthawk" and problems…Be careful

Purchased a "nighthawk" and problems having computer freezing. Called Cable company to be told no problem and maybe wifi router needed an update. Called Netgear to be told since the warranty was over, there would be a charge. First, it was a service plan of over 100.00, then 6 months, then one time of only $49. At 77 and low income could not even afford that. Then he finally said he would email me the directions. They came, hard to understand but remembered one time they wrote to do an update for security, found it and updated it without problems. I will never purchase their product again.

This is by far the worst technical…

This is by far the worst technical support I have EVER, EVER experienced. For Christ sake. I can´t get hold of them, they don´t answear the phone. No email to address to. I have tried for a week now and the customer service agent is probably a school drop-out. I hae a case number NETGEAR Support Ärende #41122957 the Swedish site. Please respond.

They don't give a dams about their customers

A few months after I bought their extender it stopped connecting.I was well within the 90 days' free support but some idiot changed the date and made the expiry date the same as the purchase date, so the support expired as soon as I bought it. Tried community forum where I received goodwill but no practical help. Wrote to the CEO,no reply. By now I think you are getting the picture. Netgear takes you money and from then on it is your problem if something goes wrong.
I am probably lucky but I always received assistance from other technology companies Lenovo, Ring, Samsung etc not just for a miserable 90 days but in some cases even years after the purchase.

I for one shall never ever buy anything from them and would advise anybody who like me, cannot sort out a techno problem without help to follow my example and avoid them unless you like to throw you money away.
A bit later. Netgear long last woke up and contacted me.Over a two hour telephone conversation they put everything right,all networks were there.I was over the moon. Half an hour later they all disappeared leaving me without doorbell,connection to burglar alarm,use of tablet. I emailed even phoned California.Nobody responded. In the end I managed to restore the router setting to how they were before Netgear,reset everything and THREW OUT THE EXTENDER> Best thing I have ever done.

Wifi Range Extender WN3000RP. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME, SPACE AND MONEY!

I have just purchased and registered a Wifi Range Extender WN3000RP. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME, SPACE AND MONEY! It was set up and showing both solid green Router and client link lights. However when I link into it is says ‘You must log in to this network before you can access the internet’ but when I click onto ‘Open Network Login Page’ and complete the questions on the Netgear genie the ‘next’ button to proceed is greyed out and will not let me proceed further. In addition to this the weblink address given for Mac set up says it does not exist, so once again I am lost. There is no way to get in touch for advice with Netgear; no email address, no tel number, no support whatsoever, except through the community, but this should be addressed by the company not their customers. So without being able to link into anywhere to complete the set up process the item is USELESS. I just hope now the seller will refund the money and I can buy an alternative. Looking like its a battle ahead though as the box has been opened and the item 'used'
