Do Not Use KAD Movers – Unprofessional, Terrible, and Unbelievably Slow
If you’re looking for a moving company that combines the speed of a sloth, the integrity of a politician during election season, and the customer service skills of a hangry toddler, look no further than KAD Movers.
I had a terrible experience with KAD Movers. I was very clear upfront about the details of my move: I told them I was moving 13 minutes away to a townhouse with stairs and provided a detailed list of items, including a 1-bedroom setup, study desk, dressers, dining table, fridge, washing machine, sofa, rugs, and a thin TV I was particularly concerned about. I asked if they were insured, and they reassured me everything, including my TV, would be covered.
They quoted me $300 (fixed) and convinced me to cancel my booking with another mover who had quoted $325. They were incredibly unprofessional and delayed sending me confirmation of the booking so late to the point I had no other choice but to go with them. On moving day, the issues began immediately. The movers were painfully slow—so slow it was clear they were intentionally dragging their feet to avoid doing more work. They spent so much time either on their phones or wandering around. They were combative, would smirk when I would raise a concern, ignored me outright when speaking to them, deceptive and their boss all of sudden was impossible to reach and still hasn't responded; so expect zero communication if any issues arise with your move.They claimed my TV wasn’t insured because it wasn’t in a box (something that was never communicated to me). They also insisted they couldn’t handle my desk, arguing they were only told it was a 1-bedroom move. My partner and I had to dismantle the desk ourselves.
At the new address, the movers refused to take key items upstairs, despite me clearly stating beforehand that my bed, sofa, dresser, and TV needed to go upstairs. I had to argue with them to at least bring one item upstairs even though the majority of items need to go upstairs. On top of all that, they charged me $334 instead of the quoted $300, sneakily failing to mention GST wasn’t included. It was obvious that they were being incredibly manipulative and slow in order to hit the 2 hour mark for a 13 minute drive from a majority empty home, with most items disassembled and ready to go just to give them an excuse to not do their jobs and bring any of the items upstairs or even the bare-miniumim of bringing the items into the house. They left half my furniture in the garage, saying it was "taking too long" and clearly didn’t care to finish the job properly. Not to mention after they were done they were incredibly oblivious and careless to my new neighbours blocking their ability to enter and exit their properties and just lingered (5-10 minutes) when exiting onto the main road to the point my neighbour had to overtake and another had to talk to them, they also aren't fully licensed which might explain their poor driving abilities.
The experience was a nightmare, and it completely ruined what should have been an exciting move into my new home. Avoid KAD Movers at all costs if you want a professional, reliable, and honest moving service. This was by far the worst moving experience I’ve ever had.
