Não vou dizer que uma remodelação completa é uma experiência relaxante, porque não é.

Durante algumas semanas parece que a casa pertence mais aos trabalhadores do que a nós. Mas dentro do possível tornaram o processo bastante fácil.

O técnico que veio a minha casa, o chamam de Ferreira estava o sempre a perguntar o que vinha a seguir e os materiais, gostei dessa organização.

Agora que terminou até parece estranho chegar a casa e não encontrar ninguém a trabalhar.

Used Heplar for the first time recently.

There was a small delay at the beginning, but after that the work moved along well and the final result was better than I expected.

What I appreciated most was that when I pointed out one small detail I wasn't completely happy with, they came back and corrected it without an argument.

For me that says more about a company than pretending everything is always perfect.

We have a house in Calheta and spend part of the year back in the UK, so getting work done in Madeira can be a bit awkward when you're not always around.

We'd had a few things building up at the house for a while and eventually contacted Helplar to get them sorted.

Uoshington was the one doing most of the work and we got on with him really well. He was professional, but not in that overly formal way. He'd explain what he was doing, point something out if he thought it could cause a problem later, and there were a couple of small things he fixed that weren't really part of what we'd originally called about.

Ferreira was the person we dealt with for most of the organising. Replies were quick, dates were clear and, more importantly for us, we didn't have to keep sending messages asking what was happening.

We actually had to fly back to the UK before the last bits were finished. I wasn't completely comfortable with that at first because we've had mixed experiences with tradespeople before, but they kept us updated and sent us photos as things were completed.

By the time we came back to Madeira everything had been sorted and the house was clean, which was a nice surprise because we've definitely not always had that experience after building work.

We've already got another couple of things we'd like to do at the property, so we'll probably be calling them again.

I hired Helplar to repair a leak in my irrigation system, which was only installed in 2024. I was charged for the repair and replacement of three plumbing connections.

After the work was completed, the irrigation would not shut off correctly. I contacted them and was told it needed to be manually turned off because of the work they had done and that it would return to normal. I eventually found that the shut-off valve had not been tightened properly and fixed this myself.

Unfortunately, shortly afterwards the system was leaking again. The new leak is in the same manifold they worked on, directly around the area containing the new fittings installed during the repair.

Helplar came back to my house, but rather than resolving the problem, I was told that this particular connection was not one they replaced and therefore the leak was not their responsibility.

I understand that a company cannot be responsible for every future problem with a plumbing system. However, when I pay a professional company to repair a leaking system and replace three plumbing connections, then experience problems immediately afterwards followed by another leak in the same small manifold they worked on, I expect better after-sales service than simply being told that the leaking connection wasn't one they replaced.

I have spent considerably more time dealing with the irrigation since the repair, including troubleshooting part of their work myself and waiting for additional visits.

Communication has generally been polite, but unfortunately I cannot recommend the service based on the quality of the work and how the subsequent problems were handled.

I initially chose Helplar partly because of the positive testimonials on their own website. I would recommend looking for independent customer reviews as well before booking.
