Today at Eastbourne ended the day with two take away cod and chips with mushy peas.
Ruined the day!
What a rip off! £17.50

Our advice, give Harry Ramsden a wide berth !

Visited Harry Ramsden's in Worthing as had a beach trip on a hot BH August with my family, 5 of us. Now there are 4 or so cafeteria type fish n chips shops just round the corner, cheaper, but much busier and setting not quite as good (think Sun readers). Prob would not have got seats, or iced water, dunno about quality of food, but would have cost between £25 - £37 (I checked).

Bought 4 meals, 2 Haddock, 2 Cod, changed peas to beans, got a lemon 🍋 quarter, tartare sauce and unlimited fat chips for £10.99 each. Picked up plenty of serviettes for meal (& later 😉), asked for tap water and got 2 jugs served with ice and lemon slice.

Food was great, I tried both fish but Haddock was recommended and justified. Crispy, nourishing, hit the mark. Chips were brilliant and we each refilled these.

Salt and pepper shakers, Sarsons Vinegar, Heinz Ketchup and Hellmans Mayo bottles were placed on our table for our use. Cutlery, plates n glasses were all clean (I've worked as a Kitchen Porter previously, so was observing ☺)

Also worth noting, one of my flock refuses to eat fish, so she 'shared' our chips (and lemon), including the refill. The restaurant had no issue with this, nor did they charge the potential £2.50 for her chips that they could have. We didn't take the mick by asking for a spare plate.

Waitresses were friendly and attentive, bathroom nearby, same level and clean enough (6/10)

Wasn't too busy inside, no queue at all, prob cos of the chav shops, shop was airy and AC was on - needed this to counter the 33°C outside! Food was served promptly, refills took a couple of mins, in hindsight we coulda ordered them a little in advance.

I paid £43.96 - perfect meal towards the end of a perfect day. Will def. go back again. In case HR are reading, I did not tip as had already been rinsed by Worthing beach pier etc, not a reflection on service or staff.

Never read a review of Harry R's before, amazed at the ones listed, could not be further from the truth in my case. One of the few positive reviews, written in CAPS, seems fake, which is annoying, I can assure mine is definitely not. Also don't understand how a car parking fee means HR get a 1 star 🌟 rating, moreso when the food and drinks are reported as great! Still got my receipt if anyone doubts.

We had Large Haddock and Chips with Mushy Peas at the Swanage Branch in July this year.

A large pot of Yorkshire Tea, but only 2 Sugars each!

The meal arrived the fish was not very big there was no Bread and Butter as advertised, the chips were very well done, I think they were last night's reheats.

I also think that the fat was too hot as the fish tasted slightly burnt.

I have lost the receipt but I think it was around the £30 mark.

Very Disappointing for Harry Ramsdens.

Bournemouth ... ... have to say worse fish and chips and not cheap at £44 for 3 of us.
.. thought bearing the Harry Ramsden name would be better. All batter and no fish. Toilets were dirty and my husband said that the men's toilets were filthy. Needless to say we will not be going back.

The view was good on the plus side as was the waiter.

Stopped at Hopwood services for breakfast. Big mistake!!!? My God it was awful. Anaemic fatty bacon, a sausage that may have had some meat in it somewhere, and hash browns, still hard in the middle. The baked beans were an oasis of taste amidst this riot of bland fatty cheap tatt. All for a staggering seven pounds. Looking at the other reviews here it is clear Mr Ramsdens company does not give a toss about it reputation for quality. Nothing has changed in months if not years. So, Harry your just another fat cat conglomerate that tells a good tale but sells crap. You won't tuck me up again, and I urge others not to fall for it either.

Most expensive breakfast I’ve ever bought I. A motorway services tastes horrible cold bacon cold black pudding ,then they sting u extra if u want a cup of tea ended up over £12 for a awful breakfast rude Eastern European staff who laugh at u wen u complain

Called for Pie and chips at Harry Ramsdens,Skegness at 6.30 pm today Wednesday 03 July 2019 with my wife.
I had Steak & Kidney pie chips and supposed to be curry sauce but young girl put gravy instead.
My wife had mince pie and chips peas/gravy.
The pies were a disaster very hard pastry and very little filling the portion of chips was EXTREMELY small on both mine and my wifes small foam tray.Not worth the money £3.99 & £4.25 St/Kid.
If you want a decent meal go elsewhere absolute and utter rubbish served here Not at all what it used to be. Stay clear Note,,This is the chip shop on the corner/ front near the zebra crossing and just up from the Embassy Theratre

Ordered take away from the blackheath restaurant. Only half turned up and it was average at best. Delivery guy didn’t give a monkeys. We’ve had good from them in the past but it appears to be pot luck as to what you get.

Went to the Woodall services for lunch. First time we have tried Harry Ramsden. Chips were substandard but edible. Best chip shop curry sauce I've had but the batter on the fish was awful. I'm really not sure how they could have got it so wrong. It was way too thick tasteless and undercooked. Yuck! Won't go there again. Please go to George's and get some tips.

Went in to the Blackpool branch it was discussing dirty and no one was interested in serving we left to see where else we could eat very disappointed after all this is meant to be a good restaurant.

Slow service. Over priced and over cooked chips. Don’t know if it was just because it’s a service station (south mimms) but not what I would expect

Chips were gross, the man serving me chips was the moodiest person I have ever met
I only had chips and they made me feel sick for the rest of the day
I'm no critic, but those chips were nasty, I can only suggest that the people making the food there actually try it and lighten up a bit.They are luck they get any business with food like that

By far the worst chips I have ever eaten

We were at the the Marine Parade, Brighton branch yesterday evening. Neither my wife, nor I had ever been before and were interested to see if the reputation was deserved. Based on what we had, definitely not, and we will not be going back. The word that sums up our experience is mediocre. Our local chippy is much better. The fish was OK but a bit wet. The chips were a bit undercooked (just a bit hard inside). My wife had mushy pease which she said were watery. Thing is that they weren't busy. They weren't being pushed. It was pretty quiet, so really no excuse. Simply no excuse - oh and it's quite expensive too.

They just seem to be milking the reputation, which based on our meal is not justified.

Have just enjoyed a leisurely meet up with friends at a Harry Ramsden's at a local service station.
Food was great, chat was great, coffee was too, but for parking to eat at Harry Ramsden at Birchanger Services it has cost each of us a £100 each parking fee for going over two hours (2 hours 15 mins) so a meal for three of us with separate cars has ended up with an extra £300 on top of our food bill!
Needless to say we won't be visiting again.
What a shame :-(

Went to the Brighton branch on Thursday 26th October. Food and service were of a very high standard. Would recommend.

We had occasion to go to the New Brighton store this evening, Sunday 11th June. Imagine our horror to discover the whole store was like a kids Playground! Staff were larking around in the cafe area, behind the serving counter and even running in and out of the back during their horsing around. Having ordered food, we were then treated to the most unhygienic sight of a young boy, with no protective clothing, apron, hairnets or even gloves attempt to take out pickled onions with his fingers. We were so glad we hadn't ordered any. Whilst waiting for our food the tirade of stupidity continued with squealing and chasing around in front of customers, running around the back playing hide and seek. As a consequence we cancelled our order and got a refund. You would find better service and manners in a kindergarten. There are plenty of well established local fish and chip shops where you can find a better quality of staff, hygiene and customer service. The one girl to show any politeness was very embarrassed.
