Never again
Great tea! HORRIBLE customer service. I ordered 3 bags of 50 sachets coming out to over $60. One of the bags was wrong so I contacted them the next morning to see if i could change one of the bags. Even though the order hadn't even been processed yet, they said changing my order is IMPOSSIBLE. They don't have a cancel order option, so I said screw it, just send me what I ordered. It's been WELL OVER A WEEK since I ordered and it STILL hasn't been processed. I tried calling to cancel my order and get my money back so I could go buy some other tea from a store but could only get an answering machine. I will never be doing business with H&S again. Which sucks because I really like their teas.
They double charge you and rip you off
We purchased over $90 of tea and at checkout they claimed my credit card did not process so they ran it again. When I checked my bank, they had charged me twice. Then they had the nerve to tell my bank. It was a legitimate charge. They seem like nice people but they will totally rip you off. Who buys $180 of tea? They were not very helpful or communicative.

ordered teas from this company and their website used to be good but now it is not. I have waited for them to get the tea to the USPS for 2 days. I contacted them and they said they were having difficulties but to be patient. I am patient no more.

The decaf hot cinnamon herbal tea is weak. In order to get a good tasting tea you have to use 3 sachet bags. In no time you are out of bags and too much money wasted.
Never Harney and Sons Fine Tea…
As a first time customer of Harney and Sons Tea, their customer service is bloody terrible.
Lost package was not their fault, their handling of the entire order was garbage.
You can find better companies to give your money to.
Why natural flavors?
I use their hemp tea. It’s delicious and takes care of the pain I have. But, why do they use natural flavors in their tea? Everyone by now knows that natural flavors are mostly msg(not good for you) or could be anything. They are an ingredient that no one in my extended family will buy. My doctors told me to stay away from food additives. No nutritionist would tell you it’s fine to eat foods with natural flavors. Please go back to real ingredients.
No PayPal
You can't use Pay Pal for their purchases and from the reviews complaining of bad customer service and the lack of standing behind their products I can see why. Never buy from a company that isn't tied to Pay Pal.
Unreliable Customer Service
They constantly use unreliable shipping (USPS) that has delivered on two occasions to the wrong building. Sadly, both times my packages were stolen, and Harney and Sons has decided to penalize me and basically refuse to help me in any way. This is after almost a week of ignoring my requests for help via email. It has been almost three weeks since I’ve placed my order, and I’m constantly told that “USPS has not replied back to us” instead of actually effectively rectifying the situation. The most recent email stated “ I just wanted to follow up with you. My supervisor did not approve a reshipment of your order. Because this is the second order of yours that has been reported missing, she wants to wait until we hear back from USPS before we can move forward.”
I would highly suggest to think twice before ordering. This company takes little to no accountability.
Update:
After considerable emails going back and forth, they are now telling me to call USPS myself and file my own complaint and are refusing to rectify the situation. Save your money, because clearly they will take it at the customer’s expense.

I have made 36 purchases from this company, spending over a $1,000.00 on their teas. I made a purchase on February 13, 2024 for $61.00 of tea. Before the tea arrived, I went to their website to track the delivery and saw that they were offering a 25% discount on the tea that I purchased. I contacted customer service requesting a credit which they denied. They said that my purchase was 2 days prior to the posting the sale. I am shocked, astonished and extraordinary disappointment. So I asked again and was again denied. Terrible business practice that assures that I will find someone else to supply me with tea!

Price Gouging
Slow shipping, meh tea quality.
what gets ,me most is their price gouging. Some teas have more than doubled in price. For example, when I started buying Yin Hao tea from them it was only $39. The tea wasn't that great but with a discount I felt it was worth it. The price for the same tea just two years later is now $70.

I have been buying chocolate tea from H & S for almost 10 years and until recently I would have left 5 stars. They sent vile chocolate tea that tasted like a harsh chemical. I wrangled a refund with some effort, waited a while and reordered thinking I'd get a different batch. This one also tastes and smells like a harsh chemical, like it might be harmful to one's health (the loose leaf - the sachets are okay). I am now trying to get a refund for the loose leaf. They sent me a postage label but I am 71 with a neurological disorder that causes profound fatigue and I will have to drive across town and stand in a line that's usually long. I have called and emailed asking them to send a carrier to pick up the package and am now on hold, although it's fairly soon after they opened, for a very long time. I don't know what's happened to their good tea and their good service but this really stinks.
I came back to add to my review. After an hour and a half or 2 hours of effort, including being on hold a long time this morning, I talked with someone who was helpful and courteous and somewhat clarified the problem. She said they had a new distributor supplying vanilla tea and they knew there was a problem and were looking for a new distributor. When I asked what that had to do with chocolate tea, she said they are now putting vanilla in the chocolate tea. (It's unclear why.) She refunded me following which I got another email from the unhelpful person who had sent me a screen shot that was incomplete and unhelpful. She sent another unhelpful screen shot that was miniscule and when enlarged cut off most of the picture. Totally unhelpful!!!!!! And very frustrating. I will check back in a few months to see if the chocolate tea is getting good reviews again. In the meantime this has been a dreadful experience.
Plastic Piece in the Loose Leaf Tea
For the most part I have always had good experiences with H&S and have been a customer for many years. But their customer service, if you can call it that, is non-existent.
I recently sent H&S an email about a concern regarding a small green piece of plastic I found in my loose leaf tea along with a pic of the piece. Waited over 24 hours for a response and still have not heard from anyone. I wasn't expecting them to do backflips but a simple, "we are so sorry" and "we will check our quality control" would have made me happy but NOTHING and I trashed almost a whole pound of tea...
H&S will be losing a longtime customer and I will be letting my friends, family, and others know about the quality and lack of customer service...
**Update**
H&S has initiated a partial refund but did not indicate in the email why and still no apology or assurance of quality checks.
Stale bottom of barrel yuck
The earl gray I received was so bland that I think it must be stale black tea and that’s it, yuck … the orange pekoe was ok but not great… the only good thing I received was the tins that the tea came in… I was so disappointed that I contacted the owner, he offered no explanation for the poor quality … rip off … won’t order from here again. I can't comment on the tea as I never received it. On enquiring as to when my order would arrive I was informed that the order number I had was for an old order which had already been delivered. When I sent proof of the order with that number and proof that my payment had been taken on the date I placed the order I never heard back from them. I called a few times and every time I was spoken to rudely and told they have no record of me or my order, yet managed to take my money. Therefore if I could give them a minus score I would. They are ignorant, bad mannered and cheating liars.

The order had been dispatched after 7days so it appears that they will take your money, but who knows when you will get your tea. No respond from customer service Truly disappointed!
Very Very Disappointed!
I have being ordering from Harney and Son since 2020, both on their website and Amazon. I place two orders in October, one on the 17th and the other on the 24th. When after over a week and I had not gotten any tracking information for either order; especially on the order placed on the 17th, I called customer service. I was told that the order should have been sent out and I should get it in a few days. I felt that I was being blown off. After a few days when I did not get any tracking information on my orders, I sent an email and didn’t get a response. I contact Harney and Sons once again because I had have not gotten the order made on 17th and had only just received the order made on the 24th. When I made contact, I felt blown off once again and was told once again that I would get the order in a couple days, but I still had not gotten any tracking information, so I knew that I was being lied to. Buyer be careful about ordering from here. The service has become unacceptable and less than standard. It appears that they will take your money, but who knows when you will get your tea. What bothers me the most is there was no real concern about my order and how I felt about not getting my order. I will not be ordering from here again, there are to many other tea companies to choose from. Very disappointed!

I have been buying tea from them for over 10 years.I am very happy with their selection and quick shipping.Their sales and coupons are many.My favorite fruit blend is Blood Orange.My favorite black tea blend is Queen Catherine.My favorite white tea is White Vanilla Grapefruit.My favorite flavored black teas are Black Currant,Earl Gray Supreme and Hot Cinnamon Spice.My favorite flavored green tea is Green Hot Cinnamon Spice.

I tried to get ahold of customer service but didn't get too far. I just wondered if they're teas always go bad. The last 18 bags of my 50 sachet bag are bitter and have a strange smell.
