I purchased an MG IM5 on 30th June 2026. Whilst my wife was on the M5 motorway yesterday the rear nearside tyre lost pressure for some reason. There was no low pressure warning on the car, the first thing she experienced was a lack of control, smoke and juddering of the car. She pulled over immediately to the hard shoulder. The car had to be recovered to home where I have tried to get a replacement tyre fitted.
To my utter amazement there is virtually no stock of the fitted tyre ( Hankook ion evo 275/40 R19) available before 26th August. I managed to order the only one available from Protyre. Congratulations to them.
It is very sad that despite the move towards electric cars that supply issues make life frustrating and annoying.
Despite Hankook's website advising stockists of the tyre no one has any off the shelf.
Think twice before you order any new car with their tyres on or any car with oddball tyres on. Its not worth the hassle

My 2½ year old, 27000 miles, rear tyres received an advisory for cracking. I showed them to my tyre supplier who agreed they should not have deteriorated so badly but said I should not have been surprised from these Hankook tyres. He advised against sending them back for warranty assessment as this would require me to buy 2 new tyres and the liklehood of any compensation was minimal.

Die Firma Hankook bezeichnet sich selbst als Premium-Reifenhersteller. Auf den Seiten von CHECK24 kann man heute noch die gleichen Reifen kaufen, die ich vor vier Jahren über meine Werkstatt gekauft habe. Jetzt habe ich große Probleme, weil sie, trotz Lagerung in der Werkstatt, korrektem Reifendruck und unter je5000 km Fahrleistung in vier Wintern so porös sind,. dass sie nicht mehr fahrtauglich sind.
Ich habe die Firma über zwei verschiedene E-Mail-Adressen angeschrieben, aber weder eine Eingangsbestätigung der E-Mails noch eine Antwort des Herstellers erhalten. Nach der Vorstellung der Reifen beim TÜV und in anderen Werkstätten habe ich jetzt erfahren ,dass es mit diesem Hersteller schon länger Probleme gibt und auch die Werkstätten nicht Kontakt zur Firma herstellen.
Die Reifen werden mit einer Lebensdauer von 6 bis 10 Jahren beworben und das ist eindeutig nicht praxisnah. Die Aussage des Reifenlieferanten an die Werkstatt lautet.... die zwei Jahre ,Garantie , sind vorbei und keine andere Möglichkeit als Reaktion.
