Beautifully Made Furniture!

I have had 2 previous G Plan suites. The last one was 27 years old and still retained its shape, colour and comfort. I didn’t hesitate to buy my third G Plan!

Expensive but worth it

Expensive but worth it. Reclining 3piece suite in coloured leather, beautiful light blue colour and so comfy. Lumbar support was important as well as a high back, great for watching TV!
Bought from a local independent store for the same price as the big multi nationals but lower delivery charge. The delivery guys set everything up and took all the rubbish away.
Really loving it!

No manufacturers fault found. Really!!!

We purchased a G Plan Seattle 3 seater sofa from Furniture Village, delivered on the 18th December 2025. Within a week or so, the cushions were really wrinkly, contacted Furniture Village 27th December, an assessment visit by their independent assessor was made for 21st January. On the 11th January I requested a refund as the wrinkles were worse. The assessment visit on the 21st January said no manufacturers fault, today I have been informed by Furniture Village no refund to be made. Our previous suite was also G Plan we had for 30 years and apart from the dated floral pattern was still a good suite.
Don't be taken in by the Union Jack care approach either, you need to be really strong to move the wrinkles but they immediately return when the sofa is sat on. No more G Plan for us.

We’re really sorry to read how disappointed you are with your new G Plan Seattle sofa, especially given the positive experience you had with your previous G Plan suite over so many years. We truly value the loyalty of long-standing customers like yourself, so it’s upsetting to hear that this purchase hasn’t met your expectations.

It may be helpful to explain that all upholstery fabrics and fillings behave differently, particularly in the first few weeks of use. Modern seat cushions are designed for comfort and support, and it is completely normal for fabric to show signs of dressing and creasing as it settles. Softer, more relaxed upholstery styles in particular will develop creases with use, and these can reappear after sitting even when smoothed out; this is a characteristic of the materials rather than a fault.

When concerns are raised, we rely on independent technician reports to ensure that decisions are fair and based on professional assessment. In your case, we understand that an independent assessor visited and concluded that there was no manufacturing fault. We appreciate that this is not the outcome you were hoping for, but we must base our decisions on these impartial findings.

That said, if you remain unhappy, you are absolutely entitled to request a second opinion. As your contract of sale is with Furniture Village, any further review would need to be arranged directly through them and we would of course cooperate fully with that process.

We are genuinely sorry that this experience has led you to feel this way about G Plan, particularly after owning one of our suites for 30 years. Your feedback is important and will be shared with our wider team.

The sofas don’t match up at all

The sofas don’t match up at all, the seams are all over the place. We have had g plan before and not had any problems. Really disappointed.

g plan Malvern 3 piece suite

We took delivery of g plan Malvern 3 piece suite 30/9/25. Since then all 3 pieces have become uncomfortable when sitting on them for over an hour and the seat seemed to sink lowe, resulting in backache, the sofa at one end appears to slope inwards and the backrest sunk into the frame. A technician on behalf of g plan came and merely looked at it, with no physical examination and said it was the "rake". His suggestions were to purchase a foam wedge for the seats and put a rolled up towel between the backrest and the cushions.
Our previous 3 piece suite was also a Malvern, which we had been happy with and had for 15 years. Hence we replaced it with the same model.
Very disappointed with the current one and are seeking to purchase a new suite after only 4 months. It will not be another G Plan.

Inspite of Gplan offering a second opinion, it has not materialised.
I contacted our retailer a month ago and made 2 more subsequent phone calls to them stating we had not received any contact from a gplan technician to arrange it.
The retailer has contacted g plan on each occasion.
Very disappointed with gplan.

Today 26/03/26 my retailer contacted me to advise me that g plan will send a technician for a second opinion, however there would be a charge of £50!!! I don't think so G Plan.

When issues such as this are raised, we arrange for an independent technician to inspect the furniture on our behalf. Their report helps us determine whether what is being experienced falls within product tolerance or if there is a manufacturing fault. The outcome of our decisions is based on that professional assessment, and we do rely on their findings to ensure fairness and consistency.

As your suite was purchased through a retailer, your contract of sale is with them, so we would recommend discussing the situation further with your retailer in the first instance, as they are best placed to review the options available to you.

That said, we do want to help. If you feel the inspection did not fully assess your concerns, we would be happy to look into arranging a second opinion so the matter can be reviewed again.

G Plan once again delivered

G Plan once again delivered, great furniture, prompt and efficient service. This is the third G Plan suite we have had so I guess this demonstrates we are happy with the product and service. We have had three leather G Plan suites. The first two suites came with a complimentary box of leather care products. Disappointed this time wasn't included.

I purchase an electric recliner sofa…

I purchase an electric recliner sofa from the Factory SBI shop in Chippenham. The quality is beyond my expectations motor so smooth and quiet. The sofa being extremely comfortable and has a great posture support. The Gentleman that helped me was not pushy and allowed me to try more sofas until I was comfortable with the ome purchased.

Broken Recliner Motor and Customer Service response

In October 2021 I purchased a G Plan three piece suite from our local furniture store.
The settee has electrically operated recliners.
On the basis that the suite was G Plan we considered it unnecessary to take out extended warranty for the product.

During December 2025 the right-hand recliner failed to close, the left hand recliner was operating as normal. After investigation it was found that the actuator motor had failed and was duly replaced at a cost of £368.

From my experience having worked as a Chartered Electrical Engineer for over 45 years designing and specialising in electromagnetic machinery including transformers and motors, the actuator motor should have a greater usage life than 4 /5 years. I would conclude that the motor was either not suitable for the duty or a quality issue leading to its failure. I suspect the latter. The motor was manufactured in China by RMT Wuijang.

The operating duty of recliner motors is fairly light compared to that say of a similar sized washing machine motor so a five year life could not be considered in accord with the G Plan claim of
"quality and true craftsmanship of G Plan with every piece made by hand and built to last".

I reported the motor failure to G Plan and was disappointed to receive a stock answer from the G Plan Service Department, stating that due to the age of he furniture (ie under 5 years) G Plan is unable to cover the cost of repairing the motor. As the item is outside of the manufacturer’s warranty period, any repairs required would not be covered FOC.

I would have expected a more professional response in order to uphold the G Plan "built to last" quality claims. I even offered to return the faulty actuator to G Plan for investigation by their Quality/Technical Department. There was no response to this offer.

Firstly, we fully understand your disappointment that the issue arose in under five years, particularly given your professional background and expectations regarding the service life of electric motors. Your comments are thoughtful and technically informed, and we respect the perspective you bring.

We would also like to acknowledge that the two-year warranty covering electrical components should have been clearly communicated at the point of sale. While this is standard within our warranty structure, we appreciate that this may not have been made sufficiently clear at the time of purchase, and we regret any confusion this may have caused.

With regard to component sourcing, we believe it is important to provide some context. Due to the significant reduction in specialist manufacturing within the UK, we, like all other UK and European sofa manufacturers, must source components globally. Fabric is sourced from across Europe, timber from Eastern Europe, metal mechanisms from the USA and China, and electrical components from the USA, Europe and China. This is an industry-wide reality rather than a practice unique to us.

That said, we remain firmly committed to quality. We are one of the very few UK upholstery manufacturers who test our products to full contract level standards, rather than solely to general domestic standards. This more rigorous testing regime is specifically designed to give us confidence in the durability and suitability of the materials and components we specify from our global suppliers.

We are sorry that you felt your offer to return the faulty actuator for investigation was not appropriately acknowledged. That was certainly not our intention. Feedback of this nature is important to us, and we continuously review supplier performance and component reliability as part of our quality assurance processes.

While we appreciate that this does not undo the inconvenience or cost you have incurred, we do hope it clarifies both our warranty position and our approach to manufacturing and quality control. Your comments have been noted and will be shared with the relevant departments.

A little Gem of a shop in Poole Dorset

The friendly and knowledgeable young man in Restore Retro shop in Poole was a hit for us, no hard pitch selling , we browsed and he answered any questions we had . Excellent quality and very comfortable

Really pleased with our new sofas! We struggled for a long time to find a sofa that was comfortable to sit on as neither of us are very tall so we needed a sofa with plenty of lumbar support and a little less depth to the seat. The Avon compact fits the bill perfectly! This, along with G Plan quality made it an excellent choice.

Cushions deflated on my Parker knoll

Contacted Parker knoll regarding my grand sofa , have been very disappointed with the cushions , they had gone very deflated and shabby looking ,even though we don’t use the sofa a great deal . Turned them and separated after sitting on it ,as directed but the volume of the cushions soon went very flat again . Robert green came out to it who was very polite and excellent at his job , nothing was to much trouble . He replaced the cushions with some new ones, so hopefully this will resolve the problem . I m very pleased with my sofa apart from the cushions, with Parker knoll having such a good reputation I didn’t think I would have this problem. Thankyou to Robert green

Avoid - G Plan Seattle Range

We purchased a 3 seater and 2 seater seattle sofas, both reclining from Furniture Village, Bristol in June 2023. After numerous complaints about sagging seats and numerous visits from servicing the foam was not replaced but more inserted. This really didnt help the problem and eventually both were replaced in 2025. Unfortunately the same problem has reoccurred. For a reputable company and expensive furniture i would advise against purchasing, obviously using inferior foam, so disappointing and no help from anyone.

We feel it’s important to clarify that following the issues originally reported, both sofas were fully replaced and dispatched in May 2025, and these replacement items are still covered under warranty. To date, we have not received any further fault reports from Furniture Village in relation to the replacement order.

As your contract of sale is with Furniture Village, any concerns need to be logged with them in the first instance so they can assess the issue and, if appropriate, report it to us for further action. If an inspection has already taken place and you remain unhappy with the outcome, we would encourage you to request a second opinion from the retailer and ask that any findings are formally shared with us.

We always work closely with our retail partners to resolve genuine manufacturing issues, and we remain willing to assist further if we are notified of an issue.
