Expensive. Poor customer service.
Like many, read about the product in Michael Easter's books. Tried proof of concept with old internal frame pack and gallon milk jugs. Decided it was for me. Ordered a Rucker 4.0. Although there is much armed forces hookup and American flag waving, a tiny minority of their products are made in the USA. My pack was made in Vietnam. Well made, but a premium price for an imported piece of gear. I was surprised that for the price no hip belt was included, but decided that perhaps their design might make them comfortable without. Wrong. Found even 20 lbs in the pack very uncomfortable on the traps. Okay, I will cough up even more for the hip belt. Oops, standard size out of stock. When? I will call them. No I won't. No phone number for customer service. Have to message. Told the belts should not be long - they would let me know when they had them. Month after month went by. No message. Checked website from time to time. Still out of stock. More than six months later checked website to find they were back in stock. I had not been notified. Ordered immediately. Waited. Waited. Ten days after payment was made I was notified that they had now shipped. Ten days? Really? Still have not received it. In summary you are paying a premium price for an imported product from a company with very slick website but poor customer service. Weights are also imported and overpriced.
Cancelled Orders, no explanation…
I've ordered multiple times from the website - using different (valid and working credit cards - amex and visa) - all orders cancelled days after I placed the orders successfully. No message explaining or anything from an actual human. Horrible experience.
Always been happy with my orders
Even with the new international regulation, they manage to find ways to deliver across the world. So far I have never had any issue with the products I ordered, even if I heard from other an decrease in quality. From what I have seen the made in Vietnam article are up to there standard. I recommend this company.
Horrible customer service, don't trust them.
This company has horrible customer service. I PCS'd recently and my credit card auto-filled my old address. I IMMEDIATELY emailed GORUCK's customer service email AND called their customer service phone number. I left a message letting them know the situation. They still kept my money and sent me a backpack across the country, never once emailing or calling back. I've never had a company ghost me three seconds after hitting "order now".
Awful customer Service
I tested a Go Ruck pack with a hip belt and found the hip belt to be necessary. The company is out of the standard size hip belt and only had the small in stock. Standard would not be in stock for 4-6 weeks (ie - not a clue). I was willing to make a $400-500 purchase if they would be willing to extend the standard 30 return policy on the belt only until the standard size came in if the small didn’t work out. Their answer was to go ahead and purchase the kit and just return the belt and wait (for who knows how long) for the standard size belt to come in. This is a totally unsat response for such an expensive item.

I recently bought the GR3 45L & I'm 100% satisfied. It's very aestetically pleasing - fits perfectly on my back and I'm glad a sternum strap was included. I must say that I'm 6 foot 6 with broad shoulders - and if you are shorter or slimmer built the 35L or a GR2 34L might be better for you. I've a GR1 too and have had for years. These things don't break - so even though they seem a bit pricy - it's well worth the investment.
Misleading Lifetime Guarantee – GORUCK Boots
I purchased a pair of hiking boots (MACV-1) from GORUCK, an American sporting equipment company founded in 2008 and based in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The boots are marketed as military-grade, robust, and most notably, as having a lifetime guarantee.
Importing these boots from the USA is a costly exercise for a South African consumer. Nevertheless, I proceeded with the purchase, trusting the company's stated commitment to stand behind their product and repair or replace it for any defects or manufacturing failures.
After 3½ years of regular hiking use, the glue weld attaching the sole to one of the boots has come away—over a third of the sole has detached. Given that this model is designed specifically for wet conditions, I expected the construction—particularly the glue and stitching—to withstand moisture-related wear. This appears to be a manufacturing issue, and I expected the company to honor their guarantee.
However, GORUCK declined to repair the boot. Their reason: they only repair soles that are worn through to the boot itself. In contrast, they do not cover what they term "normal wear and tear." This distinction seems contradictory. If the boot is coming apart at a structural level under typical use, that would reasonably fall under a lifetime guarantee.
In practice, GORUCK’s "lifetime guarantee" does not seem to apply when it matters. A more accurate term might be a "limited lifetime guarantee," which would be acceptable if clearly stated at the point of sale.
Based on this experience and the company’s unwillingness to support their product as advertised, I will not be purchasing from GORUCK again and caution other potential buyers to understand the true limits of their guarantee before committing.
GR1 badly designed for the amount of weight
The GR1 is a badly designed rucksack for carrying the weight it does. You should feel little or no weight through your shoulders wearing a well designed and adjusted rucksack as the weight will be transmitted to your hips via the waist belt. This has no waist belt, there's an optional extra but it isn't sturdy or integrated enough to work properly. So all the weight is borne through the shoulders. I don't know enough to say if this is dangerous but it's very uncomfortable.
I suggest you buy a well designed hiking rucksack with a wide integrated waist belt and some normal barbell/dumbbell plates. Your shoulders will thank you.
Cheap materials
I bought a Rucker 4.0 with the sternum strap. The sternum strap attaches to the ruck sack with a cheap plastic piece that broke after less than a few uses. When I tried to get a replacement, GORUCK said this piece was not covered by their warranty. Given the cost, I was very disappointed with the lack of service. They do not stand behind their product.
Excellent Customer Service
Very high-quality products. More importantly, their customer service team was extraordinarily helpful with my request which was a somewhat unusual one.
21L M23
I ordered the 21L Dyneema M23, luckily I caught the $99 sale before it corrected to $175 (that’s still a good deal the bag regularly retails for $335). Ordered it 27 November and received it 04 December. Purchase, shipping, and delivery were flawless.
I wasn’t planning on getting that bag at this time but I couldn’t pass up that crazy sale price. For 21L the bag is big, pleasantly so. The 26L must be massive. I wasn’t always a fan of top loading/roll top backpacks until the last couple years. With the M23 I love the external access pockets, (including the external access to the main compartment so you don’t have to go through the top. There’s plenty of external pockets to make this pack great for EDC. The bag fits me comfortably, it comes with a sternum strap but I haven’t used it. I personally find it unnecessary on a 21L pack.
So far I’m loving the M23. I’m eventually going to use it mostly for one bag travel and EDC here and there. It’s my 7th Goruck bag. Love the brand and products.
Over priced
Rucking is an amazing exercise and I'm really glad I discovered it. I learned a lot of basic info from the GORUCK site for which I'm grateful. However, their products, while they look well made, are ridiculously overpriced. I luckily live in the EU, found a great company, Force Fitness, and got a 45lb setup for HALF the price.
Disappointed by Declining Quality in Boots
I've had good experiences with this company in the past, but the newest pair of boots I ordered, the "MACV2," has been disappointing. The ventilation is significantly reduced compared to previous models, and the sizing feels inconsistent, particularly in the toe box. Additionally, the right boot arrived with a noticeable discoloration on the top. It seems like quality control is deteriorating.
goruck plate backpack way to small for…
goruck plate backpack way to small for average size man OR woman. Very disappointed. I have tried contacting them via their email and several online phone numbers, all to no avail. No response from them. They may be a company in China. be careful. Do NOT waste the money
Updated - Customer Experience
UPDATE: GoRuck responded to say they’d ship a bag to the new address as an exception to policy. Wow - didn’t see the coming, but greatly appreciate this gesture.
Bad customer service. Tried to correct a shipping address literally within moments of making an order for a canvas duffle bag. No workable phone number, and the company didn’t bother responding to emails sent within minutes of order. They finally responded about an hour after creating a shipping label, at which point they said there was nothing they could do (even though the item hadn’t been delivered). Suggest avoiding GoRuck - the instant they get your money, they don’t care about you.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service
placed and order 11th of november with them as they were providing gadgets for a suicide awareness event
after 4 weeks tried to contact them through email , website form, x no anser
instagram finally they reply they had a stock issue and order will be sent the following week ( that was the 11th of december)
today 22nd of december still no sign of shipping confirmation.
terrible little company overpriced
Great quality bags
Great quality bags, feels like they will last a lifetime.
I ordered from the Goruck store to the Netherlands, it was shipped quickly but I recieved quite a bit of taxes and importduties from Fedex. I sent Goruck a mail and got refunded the entire amount of taxes, I would definitely order again!
Pricey but worth it!
I love Rucking and the gear at GoRuck is second to none. It’s definitely pricey but after I purchased it… it made me get out there more (had to make the money worth it). The gear never breaks down and it’s made in the USA. Referred a few friends and they love it to.
Embrace the suck sticker was a nice touch too!
NO REFUNDS
A friend sent me a very generous gift, a $350 backpack from GoRuck. Well built, if you needed that, but so heavy when empty that it was not something i would use. Returned it but only given store credit. Wasted so much time trying to find something else to purchase and tried several things, different style shoes, but nothing fit (insanely narrow, how to big tough guys/gals fit into them?). They happily deducted shipping fees from my store credit but repeatedly refuse to refund the money. My last inquiry is most worrisome as they replied saying my credit can not be refunded and will now expire in a year. WTW? Not only have they held my gift money hostage for years they fully intend to rob me completely by making it expire. This company is evil. Stay away! And NEVER buy a gift for someone from these crooks.
