NEW 2026 GMC Yukon Denali Blown Engine at 4Kmiles

I purchased a 2026 GMC Yukon in December for my wife, and within 7 months of owning it my engine is blown. The vehicle only had around 4K miles on it, and it hit catastrophic failure on the interstate traveling 75mph with 18-wheelers behind me and my family. Nearly killed my entire family, and the customer support I've recieved has been dismal at best. They never return your calls and when you call, you always get a different customer service rep. They always say, that your rep is not available, or not in the office. A couple of them were so rude, that they just hung the phone up on my wife and I. Also, we requested a buy back, as we've already been without my truck for over 30 days, and of course GMC denied that. When I say, this has been a nightmare, that's an understatement. I wish Congress would step in and do something about this, as this is ridiculous. Millions of customers are complaining about the exact same issues, and nothing is seemingly being done about it. What is it going to take? Multiple families being killed as they travel in this unsafe vehicles? I caution any customers thinking about buying a GM product to stay far away from buying anything remotely related to GM!

BEWARE — My 2021 GMC Yukon needed a complete engine replacement at only 88,191 miles.

BEWARE — My 2021 GMC Yukon needed a complete engine replacement at only 88,191 miles.
My Yukon 5.3L was properly maintained, including regular oil changes, and I have the service records to prove it. When it began consuming excessive amounts of oil, I followed GMC/dealership instructions and completed five oil-consumption tests, documenting approximately 3–4 quarts of oil consumption every 500 miles.
I then paid approximately $3,000 for an engine teardown and diagnosis. The dealership found no external oil leaks but documented oil contamination in the cylinders, carbon-packed piston rings, cylinder-wall scoring, burrs, and excessive internal wear. The engine requires complete replacement.
This truck is not even five years old and hasn't reached 100,000 miles, yet I'm now paying $15,500 out of pocket for a replacement engine.
What makes this worse is my experience with GMC Customer Assistance. I followed the steps they asked me to follow and repeatedly requested calls from management, but I never received those requested callbacks.
I bought a GMC Yukon expecting a reliable, long-lasting SUV. After this experience, I cannot recommend GMC based on either the reliability of my vehicle or the customer support I received when the engine failed.
I have retained the maintenance records, oil-consumption tests, dealership diagnosis, teardown photographs, and repair paperwork supporting my experience.

Wiper Blades cost twice the AutoZone price

Factory dealer charged me twice the highest price of AutoZone for replacing wiper blades on my GMC! And they did that as a favor by not charging any labor to replace the wipers. For something non-mechanical as this, the price difference is too wide and it shows in their stock price! Cheaper brands at AutoZone were about 1/3rd the price.

My wife and I were traveling over the 4…

My wife and I were traveling over the 4 of July in our 2026 GMC Sierra AT4 3.0 diesel with only 24,000 miles on it. We were over 700 miles from home and 29 miles out of Ellensburg Washington at 5am when our truck went into decelerate mode. No check engine warning or dash notification other than decelerate mode. We were able to pull off the highway within about 1/4 mile. Shute truck down waited for a few minutes looked under hood for anything obvious and found nothing. Started truck back up and the decelerate notice was gone, so put into drive and went 20 feet and notification again. I turned the truck off and could hear a ticking noise this time. Opened the hood up checked the oil and there was no oil on the dipstick. Done some google research and everything I found was not promising. This truck and motor has a bulletin sent out to dealers and has to do with the thrust bearing having issues due to imperfect machining that causes a catastrophic failure of the motor with low miles on it. Even though GM knows about the issue the choose not to do a recall but yet send the trucks to dealers to continue to sale them. We contacted roadside assistance and were told someone was on their way to tow us to the nearest dealership which was in Ellensburg Washington (University Auto Center) after an hour of waiting we were contacted by Roadside saying we were on our own for a tow truck because no one could come and get us. This was a Sunday morning and when we called tow companies not one of them had been contacted. We had Belko Towing take us to the UAC in Ellensburg and drop the truck off. I was at the dealership the next morning at 7:30am when they opened. I was met by a service rep (Rachel) that was the most unfriendly unprofessional person I have ever met. I told her our situation and that we were over 700 miles away from home and had urgent business back home and needed to get out of there and was informed they don't have loaner vehicles and don't help with rental cars. Under the GM directive on this truck/motor and being over 100 miles from home they are to put us in a loaner car or rental at their expense and get us on our way. She (Rachel) also indicated that there were customers ahead of us and she may not be able to get it in to diagnose the problem that day. Again I indicated there was no oil on the dipstick with a ticking noise and most certainly the motor and turbo were blown. She told me that I didn't know that and it could be a sensor that was out. Not likely but I asked if they could at least get it in diagnose it and get us in a rental car to go home in. Again complete refusal from RACHEL. I called GM customer Service and they was no help at all as well. Telling me the rental car and hotel was completely on my wife and I. I went back to the hotel and waited for the call from the dealership saying they would try to get it in and then call me by 11am. I called back at noon time to find out they had ordered a motor and Turbo for the truck and it would be anywhere for 2-6 weeks for the repair to get done. I said I was going to try and get the truck to Hansen Motors in Brigham City Utah where I bought it from. I was told by Rachel that they diagnosed it and they would not release it from their dealership. I own the truck but not sure how that works. My wife and I couldn't get a rental car for two days and was stranded there without any help from the dealership. When asked to speak with the service manager I was told he wasn't there. I called back two days later to get update on the truck and when Rachel answered the phone I asked for the Service Manager and was told that I didn't need to talk to him and when I call in I should ask for her. After going a round about way I was able to in touch with a very professional person named Beth that was amazing and put me in touch with Bryan Swanson the Service Manager. He was much better than Rachel and I received my truck back on August 4, 2026. There were some gaps in communications still but Bryan was much better. I wasn't informed my truck was headed back to Utah until 2-3 hours after it left UAC. Im still waiting on my money to be reimburse from GM and they are being resistant in the reimbursement but Im sure it will happen soon I hope. Hansen Motors in Brigham City when I spoke with Cody their service manager and told him about the situation he talked with Mark Hansen and they put me in a loaner car to use until my truck was. done. I don't have much faith in GM and University Auto Center and quite concerned about my truck. I do know if I owned the dealership in Ellensburg Washington that Rachel would not be working there anymore. GM and UAC YOU NEED TO DO BETTER. Get me reimbursed .

Ineffective and potentially dangerous repairs compounded by GM apathy about our issues

Although we did not purchase a new truck from VonHolzen, we have used them for service four times during the summer of 2026. We live in a very remote location where there are few GMC dealerships. Several of the dealerships that were closer to us had horrible service ratings. However, VonHolzen had good service ratings, so we decided to do get our expensive GMC truck serviced by them even though going to this dealer is approximately a 140 mile round trip commute.

The first visit was to diagnose a service parking brake light that came on. This was the best visit as they found the “problem” that would fix our issue. They claimed that we were missing a parking brake pad and the remaining brake pad was in poor shape. I found this odd as the parking brake perfectly held our fully loaded truck camper and truck on a steep incline with no issues.

When I returned for visit 2, they “repaired” the allegedly defective brake pads on both sides. This is a big deal on a 2021 GMC 3500 Diesel Dually Duramax as the GM engineers decided to make the repair super complex (i.e. Expensive ). When I returned home (70 mile drive each-way), I saw an oily smoke coming out from one pair of the rear wheels. Upon further inspection with a flashlight, I saw a dark viscous fluid flowing down the outside surface of the inner tire. I was concerned that the vehicle had suffered serious damage, so I consulted with a diesel mechanic that lives close to me. He told me that the vehicle could not be driven as it was unsafe and the wheel(s) very easily could have fallen off. So I had to have it towed back up to this dealership. This was alarming not only because of the potential serious damage to the drive train but the possibility of a crash during my drive home. The towing bill was also concerning as the tow fee for this size truck was $560.

The truck was towed back to the dealership and after examination, the service manager claimed that the damage was not their fault. He said “you just had bad luck” and quoted a repair bill of $650. I again consulted my local diesel repair mechanic (who is licensed to perform safety examinations on diesel trucks for a large international company) and he told me that in his opinion, the mechanic at the dealership did not perform the required service correctly. My wife and I consulted a different GM dealership and got a similar answer. Armed with factual information, we returned to the dealership and presented our case for them to cover the repair costs and towing. After meeting, with the owner of the dealership and the service manager, the dealership relented and decided to cover the cost of the repairs and towing. Upon concluding this visit we drove the truck home.

About one week later, the service parking brake light came on again. So I had to make another 140 mile round trip trek to get the issue resolved. The service manager was visibly not happy to see me again which made me feel uncomfortable. When the service was completed he met with me in is office so no one else could hear the conversation, charged us $186, told me they reset the warning light, and informed us that their technicians do not like us and that we should never return for service. On the drive home, the warning light was at least finally out.

About one week later, the service parking brake light came on again! Since I no longer had a dealership to go to, I again consulted with our local diesel mechanic. He looked up all of the codes and found that they were identical to the codes that caused a GMC major recall several years ago. He gave me a number at GMC to call to discuss our concerns directly with GM engineers. I called this number and emailed printouts of the multiple error codes to them and was issued a GM case number. About one day later, a customer support person called me and said that there was nothing GM would do to help me. She said that my issues were not part of their recall and would not discuss the code similarities with me. She said that she was not allowed to discuss details and that GM was not responsible.

So, after about two months of down time with my truck, over $2,000 of out-of-pocket expenses, driving a truck with defective repairs that could have injured or killed us, being told that we should never return to VonHolzen, and GM effectively saying, “Hey dude, you screwed up by trusting in us!”, we are completely dissatisfied with the VonHolzen dealership and GM. We will never return to VonHolzen and we strongly warn others to avoid this dealership. We are also considering selling our defective truck and will absolutely never purchase another GM product again!

This is the worst truck on the market

This is the worst truck on the market. I have a 2025 GMC Sierra 2500 HD at4x. All I've been having is problems with this truck I've only had it for 15 months and my AC drain tube is already plugged and it's going to cost me a lot of money for the dealership to unplug it because they put the plug right above the damn transmission

I am very disappointed with my experience with Roy Foss Thornhill and the Tricare extended warranty.

I purchased my 2023 vehicle from Roy Foss Thornhill and also purchased an extended warranty that was presented as bumper-to-bumper coverage up to 200,000 km. I bought this warranty for peace of mind and protection against major repairs.

Unfortunately, my vehicle developed a serious engine problem. I provided all requested documents to Tricare and waited approximately five months for a decision. My claim was denied, and when I contacted the dealership for help, I was only told “sorry” without any real solution.

I trusted Roy Foss Thornhill and the warranty coverage I paid for. I feel very disappointed that after purchasing extra protection, I was left to deal with a major engine issue on my own.

I hope Roy Foss Thornhill and Tricare improve how they handle customers and warranty claims.”

I've been a Chevy guy my whole life but smh

I've been a Chevy guy my whole life. My dad pushed Chevy on us as kids and we grew up Die Hard Chevy guys in my family. It's very sad to see what has become of the car brand I grew up Loving.. we used to go on trips and as kids the game we would play would be count the Chevys and Fords on the freeway. My first car 98 GMC Jimmy second car 04 Chevy Cavalier third Car 2008 Silverado extended cab.. 2017 silverado 4 door and 2020 silverado 1500... and now 2004 silverado... because that's around when the quality slumped off... I've given them basically every car sale of mine besides one.... but I've had a lot of headaches along the way. There's much more to my story but I'll start with the 2017 silverado. At leased this truck with the intention of buying it after the lease was up if it was reliable.. truck had nothing but problems since the day I got it always made noises was always in the dealership. One time they had it for a well over a month trying to figure out what was wrong with it and they couldn't figure it out only to have GM tax remotely go into the wiring system from somewhere else and they still couldn't figure it out to find out it ended up being the key system. I turned that truck into a dealership Feldman Chevrolet in Livonia. I was told when I turned in the truck that I was over mileage for my lease . The girl Sydney told me not to worry that as long as I leased another vehicle through them they would make sure I didn't have to pay the over mileage especially with the accessories that I left on the truck when I turned it in. They were having a competition that Month for who could get the most sales.. General Motors issued me a small loyalty certificate to keep my business because of all of the problems with the truck so I decided to give them another shot and Lease another truck 2020 Silverado... with the hopes that it would be a reliable vehicle and I could purchase it after the lease. About 6 months into owning this vehicle I got a bill in the mail for $4,000 in over mileage for the last vehicle. That's what I found out the dealership basically told me everything I wanted to hear just to get me to lease from them again. I argued with GM Financial that the dealership told me they were going to take care of it and they never did ultimately having to settle with GM Financial and pay half of the mileage and they agreed to pay the other half. Later I found out that this went on my credit report as a charge off which is a very negative report on your record. I was never supposed to get this report from the start but I figured I would suck it up and just deal with it tried getting it changed but nobody would change it because General Motors would not accept my reasoning stating that I should have got it in writing. Basically saying they lied to your face and you lost out because of it. I paid my $2,000 for over mileage and they took care of their half and I thought it was over with. I turned in the truck on lease after the 3-year lease on time not over mileage... I wasn't going to lease another vehicle because at the time after covid trucks were outrageously expensive and the reliability was going downhill so I decided I would turn the lease in and buy something older that would be more reliable... this was where things got even crazier. About a year later my credit dropped substantially I checked into it to try to figure out what it was and found out that there was now a repossession on my record. I looked into it and started calling around and ultimately found out that someone at the dealership screwed up again and they sent the paperwork to GM Financial for the lease closing and GM Financial found an error in their paperwork and they sent the paperwork back it then sat in an irresponsible person's desk for over a year causing the truck to go on my record as a repo even tho I turned it in on time under miles. I addressed it with the credit bureaus they never got rid of the repossession but put a note on the file.. Now because of these two things on my record that were completely not my responsibility I'm finding it hard to finance things because people think I have charge-offs and repossessions on my record. I'm very upset with what General Motors has become and how the customer service handles these things they just leave you to deal with it on your own even though they know their dealership and their people screwed up. But that's not the end. A year or so ago my fiance sold her car and I decided to help her get into a new car since my old truck car was holding up well. We purchased her a 2021 GMC Acadia Denali with under 30k miles on it. Lifetime powertrain warranty through champion. Only to have General Motors replace a thermostat that got stuck(known issue) but they refused to fix the damage it caused. 2k i had to pay for a radiator that had a pressure pinhole. Fix the part but not the damage ot causes? Lost my faith and going to try toyota ..

Our experience with GM Customer Care…

Our experience with GM Customer Care and the EV Concierge team has been extremely disappointing.

We opened a case after our vehicle experienced multiple failures that left it undriveable and required towing multiple times in 5 month span. Throughout the process, our concerns about reliability and safety were acknowledged, but meaningful solutions were not provided.

The most frustrating aspect has been the constant shifting of responsibility between GM and the dealership. At various points we were told the dealership needed to make decisions, then told GM was reviewing the matter, only to be directed back to the dealership again. No one seemed willing to take clear ownership of resolving the issue.

GM ultimately informed us that our situation did not qualify under Alabama Lemon Law, but beyond that offered no practical alternatives other than continuing to take the vehicle in for service and seeing whether a dealership might be willing to negotiate a buyback. For a vehicle that has experienced repeated failures and left us without confidence in its safety and reliability, that response was disappointing. When multiple owners report similar failures, customers expect transparency and accountability. Instead, we were left feeling that our concerns were being treated as isolated incidents while no one took ownership of finding a meaningful solution.

Communication was equally frustrating. We received inconsistent information about actions that had supposedly been taken, promised follow-ups that never occurred, and several direct questions regarding escalation options and alternative resolutions went unanswered.

We understand that not every customer concern results in a buyback or replacement. However, customers should expect accountability, transparency, and consistent communication. Instead, we were left feeling like responsibility was being passed back and forth while our safety concerns and loss of confidence in the vehicle were never meaningfully addressed.

This experience has significantly affected our trust in GM and its commitment to standing behind its vehicles when serious reliability concerns arise.

Purchase 2023 GMC Denali love truck…

Purchase 2023 GMC Denali love truck with too many issues for me to be happy with my purchase. I made a lot of bad decisions in my life purchasing. This truck is certainly in the top 10 it went through so much oil that they actually had to rebuild the engine I was told that it still is going to go through oil about an quart every 2000 miles. They said it’s normal. I don’t see how that’s normal. Additionally, I have to pay double for my oil change because they changed the viscosity of the oil and I have to buy a premium oil on the market. Furthermore, they did a computer update which I never requested that was done automatically and now my run boards and Radio are messed up and they want to charge me $200 to fix it. All I have to say is that’s a fine How do you do?

Never buy a GMC

Never buy a GMC. It has been a huge waste of money for me. I bought my truck 4–5 years ago and I’m still making payments on it.

When I purchased it, I also bought an extended warranty that was supposed to cover the vehicle for 10 years and up to 160,000 km, including engine coverage. Now that the engine has failed, they are refusing to cover it and want me to pay for a full engine replacement myself.

I have completed all required maintenance and services on time, yet they still won’t honor the warranty. I am extremely disappointed with GMC and would not recommend their vehicles to anyone based on my experience.

GMC is trash made to make you go to the dealership for everything. The engineers should be dragged from their home and horse whipped. What idiots put a starter under an exhaust manifold and catalytic converter. Starters have to be changed as well as the alternator which you have to pull the entire fuse block out to change it. If you mess up well you are up shit creek. DO NOT EVER BUY A GMC

New Terrain Elevation

I purchased a brand-new GMC Terrain in the UAE expecting reliability, safety, and peace of mind.
Instead, within 8 months of ownership, the vehicle spent approximately 4 months in workshops due to repeated concerns, including an ABS warning while driving with my family, steering and braking concerns, and a cruise control issue.
After multiple investigations, repairs, software updates, and workshop visits, I was ultimately informed that some of these behaviors are considered normal characteristics of the vehicle.
I continue to pay installments, insurance, registration, warranty, and service costs while having completely lost confidence in the vehicle.
I hope @General Motors and @GMC review this case objectively and help reach a fair resolution.

GM Jarrett Marks + Service Manager Mike Templeton Discrimination Against Covered Muslim Woman at GMC Fresno

I leased my Hummer EV from GMC Fresno 2 years ago.

I brought my truck in for the 2nd time for a squeaky wheel. Service said the tires were too worn to drive safely and that they would order 3 new tires, but refused a loaner in the meantime. I have to leave for LA in 2 days and this is my only vehicle.

Service Manager Mike Templeton was condescending and said: “You’re bringing the car two days before a trip and you expect me to give you a loaner??” I told him I felt his treatment was racist. He did not deny it and told me not to come back to him.

I requested to speak to the GM. GM Jarrett Marks came out and was sarcastic and even more rude than Mike. When I complained about Mike, Jarrett Marks supported him and said “Mike didn’t do anything wrong.”

As a covered Muslim woman, I felt targeted, humiliated, and dismissed by both managers. I had to drive home with the unresolved squeaky noise while waiting for the new tires to arrive.

This is unacceptable for a $100k+ customer. I am filing complaints with GM Corporate, BBB, and the California Civil Rights Department.
GMC Fresno is now refusing to service my vehicle because of my review. This is retaliation. I am adding this to my discrimination complaint against GM Jarrett Marks and SM Mike Templeton.

General Motors does not care about…

General Motors does not care about their customers at all. I've purchased multiple $100,000 + dollar trucks, cars and have always been a loyal GM customer. Always. My 2024 denali ultimate has been in shop for months. Your engineers say its the worst one they've ever seen. They still havent fixed it they've put thousands of miles on it and continue to give it back broken. Its scheduke for the engineers again this week. And guess what hmc offered me $500 dollars in GM bucks or $1500 certificate towards a new vehicle. This is the biggest joke ever. Ive been making payments on this truck while yall have it and cant fix it and yes ita under warranty still. They replaced so much stuff but wont buy it back because im the second owner. Although I bought it with low miles in 2024. Do not buy from this company take your hard earned money elsewhere. My case manager is a joke. She doesnt reapond. She doesnt even know what's going on ever but is supposed to be updating me. She wont let me talk to anyone else. Truly dont know why they employ her. Im reaching out to every news outlet. Talking to attorneys, I will not let this go.

1. The female mechanic was awesome!
2.The heat was blasting in the waiting room and it was unbearable!
3. The same channel and commercial played for 2 hours straight on the TV!
4. I waited over 2 hours to get an oil change because you sent all mechanics to lunch at the same time. One mechanic was left to do all the work while every chair in the waiting room was full!
After 10 years of going to your dealership, I am considering taking my business elsewhere.

I've got a 2018 GMC Sierra

I've got a 2018 GMC Sierra. My dealership I've got a warranty through has been great about timely repairs when needed. Recently my fuel pump and oil pump needed replacing. My truck is not drivable until it gets repaired. It's been over six weeks and I'm still waiting on a fuel pump. My dealership has contacted GMC. I've contacted GMC. I can't get any straight answers as to why it's taking so long to get this part that I need. Timing could not be worse either. We're selling our home and moving 2 1/2 hours away. Not having my truck for this long has cost me so much money in rentals and in gasoline. Not to mention the difficulties of only having one vehicle to share between our jobs and having to kids.

It's unacceptable to make someone wait so long for a simple part. If you can't find the part sitting around somewhere, then you should be making them. This is a good way to lose my business. And you can get I'll be warning other people against giving you their hard earned money of this is how you're going to treat them.

You read that right, thats Just short of $5000 for headlights in 5 years. $1000 per year for headlights.... seems excessive?? I tried customer help lines and no help.

Grill pealing 2023 at4 terrain

3 days after my new vehicle warranty ended which was March 30, 2026 I noticed my front grill was pealing. I brought my car to the dealership where I bought it and they looked at it and told me warranty is done. I opened a claim with GMC and after 3 weeks they called me to tell me they cannot do anything. I am not the first one that has brought this up. It’s a known issue. They offered me a compensation free oil change lol slap in my face. This is the last time I purchase a GMC vehicle.
