I have tried several free email…
I have tried several free email services and this is the first one I liked overall. I would like to see one addition and this is "When an email is deleted it would end receiving more email from that address". I am a retired software engineer and I receive 300 to 400 emails a day of which 99 percent are pure junk. I would like to see a list of what senders have been stopped so any one could be revived.
Excellent email app
Excellent email app. Not the prettiest or the most fully featured, but it works brilliantly on Mac OS, for connecting to Gmail and other SMTP mailboxes.
Best email client so far!
Best email client so far!
I tried about 15 email clients, both paid and free ones and Mailspring is the best.
I'm a power user, with over 10 active email accounts I really have to have a good understanding of what's going on and only this app gives me this.
Looks cool but lacks OBVIOUS features
Looks cool but lacks OBVIOUS features.
You can't sort your inbox by Sender, or Subject. or any other columns. wtf? That's been a very very handy feature since like 30 years ago.
The app LOOKS modern and nice, but that's a huge deal breaker.
So weird?! Are devs really that blind?
Easy to put my 3 clients
Easy to put my 3 clients, Clear. Quick in opening.
Thanks for the work you did.
Fastest Windows email client I have…
Fastest Windows email client I have come across by far. Solid privacy features with an intuitive UI. Had 0 issues with all my 3 email clients, even though one of them is so old that other email clients always get the (automatically obtained) connection settings wrong.
Honestly, I don't know why other people are complaining
Sending emails goes to drafts which can't be opened
Emails vanish from screen as if sent. Au contraire, they are not. A draft folder full, and often the drafts will not open either. The functionality is cooked! Cannot recommend. In addition, there must be a size/word limit: cannot send my 100,000 word novel anywhere, program freezes.
Looks great, but badly thought out workflow.
Easy to setup, the first few days of using MailSpring were great as I played with importing my various email accounts but as I started to really use it everyday the problems became very apparent... and one massive issue I can't seem to get around is how overly complicated the way it stacks email threads together. Once you flick open previous emails in the thread to re-read it opens the entire thread and all of a sudden you're dealing with a viewing pane as long as the entire conversation but it puts the SEND button at the bottom while you're still typing at the top... and while you're typing away it suddenly jumps all the way down to the bottom. Which is made worse by the awkwardly tiny scroll bar to take yourself back up... only for it to jump down yet again 2 seconds later. Plus once an email is buried into a thread, trying to find the attachments that accompanied it are like finding nano-needles in a haystack.
Another very annoying feature is once you've opened an email thread it weirdly puts SEND buttons below emails you've already sent, and given the distance between any new email and the actually relevant SEND buttons means you get lost and I've clicked and resent old emails to clients more than a few times. It's just clumsy and you can't turn this conversation view off at all.
Also, when you're sending emails, if you don't address the person in the email by a name mentioned in the email it automatically asks you if you're sending it to the correct person. If the email is taylor@... and you say "Hey Tay," then it just adds a layer of unnecessary complexity that again can not be turned off.
A very promising email client, let down with some clumsy and badly thought out workflows.
I appreciate the energy and design of Mailspring
I appreciate the energy and design that have gone into the product--the thoughtful layouts, the ease of use for gmail users, the available options (like read notifications), and the speed of the UI. The main feature missing is more advanced font support (as in using tabs when composing notes and accessing a variety of fonts and font properties). Definitely has promise. I'll use Mailspring when I can but switch back to Gmail for more advanced features.
Very Promising, But Disappointing
Like others, I was attracted to Mailspring because of its minimalist design and its ease of synching with Gmail. Unfortunately, there are bugs in Mailspring that are seemingly inexplicable: the inability to delete multiple, accumulated threads and emails in Trash, whole threads and emails in InBox disappearing and reappearing later, and more. There are other issues for me, such as not being able to establish a conversation by replying to a sender's email within the text of that email. So the search continues, but there is no way that I'll ever return to big, bloated and constantly-updating Mozilla Thunderbird.
Early promise but disappointing
For me, Mailspring has the perfect UI; minimalist and very chic. Unfortunately, as others have stated, the look is not matched by the user experience.
I paid for the Pro version at £85 per annum, and very happy to do so if it worked consistently, but unfortunately it doesn't. It has become very buggy with constant syncing issues and Pro features like read receipts that simply cannot be relied upon. I am constantly having to reset the cache, and this simply isn't acceptable in a premium product. It's such a pity; it has such a fantastic interface and such potential, but it's clear that there is insufficient oversight or development of the product.
Regrettably I feel compelled to cancel my subscription and await an alternative.
I have recently switched to the 'new' Outlook which is far from perfect but is actually not too bad and it's free.
A LOAD OF CRAP
What a load of crap , worked for one day then would not sync hotmail cured it then next day was the same , could not cure it , next day would not sync google and it seems google hates so blocks its access and no way to get it to work avoid at all costs
Mailspring Not a Good Experience
I tried using the Mailspring free version for about 2 months. The screen kept going blank and I would have to exit and restart. The reason I was able to exit is because even though the screen was white you could still navigate and around and hover over to something and then you would be able to see it to restart. After seeing a few reviews I am glad I did not spend any money on this as it would have been money lost. I have uninstalled and started using Mailbird last night. Too soon for me to comment with Mailbird.
ZERO customer service.
This is a great concept, and I paid for the Pro version to discover it is not compatible with Office 365. I asked for a refund within 14 days. No replies to emails. Autoresponder says one of the addresses is not in use, and it would appear only the admins can post on the community. ZERO customer service. Don't waste your money or nerves.
Mailspring sounded promising... but didn't deliver
Mailspring sounded promising as an addition to Fastmail but the reality is that it is riddled with bugs, read receipts don't show up (the only reason I wanted it for), and there is no way to contact developers to offer feedback or get support. Community forum of users is their only support offering
I'm looking for a 'working' email client
I'm looking for a replacement for Thunderbird, which has become un usable, and no support.
I've tried a couple of clients, but stuck with Mailspring,,,,,, for a while.
Unfortunately, I can't set up some of my accounts, and keep getting "can't sync" messages.
Again though,,,, no support.
It seems that suppliers (in many other fields too) don't seem to care if people come or go - they just don't want to help us to use their own products.
Any decent alternatives guys ???
GREAT FEATURES!
Mailspring has great features, especially the read and click tracker. I may have some problems with the read feature. I could be wrong or maybe the person I am sending it too is just lying, but there seem to be times that an email is opened. For example, I sent my friend an email at 12:00 a.m. and it was opened at 12:10 a.m. Then it was opened in the morning. I asked him about being awake at 12:10 a.m. and he said he was asleep at that time and just saw the email in the morning. But I tested it with another email that I owned to see if it was possible that it opened up by itself or sent a fake read notification, and it seems that all of the emails I sent it to did not show a read receipt even for days until I opened them. But aside from that, the app is good and would be subscribing for more months or years unless they start showing signs of being compromised.
Better than emClient but still needs work
Better than emClient but still needs some work to be a great email client. I experience some persistent bugs, and after almost 2 years, I'm looking for something else
Bugs but no answer
Since I started paying for the app, a feature has stopped working and I also had a question about something else. So I emailed them, twice, and tweeted. Still no answer and I can't even see where I'm supposed to go to cancel the thing.
Is there anybody out there?.....
Thunderbird
I transferred to Mailspring from Thunderbird. Mailspring does have a nice UI. If you are a regular simple email user than this would suite you, don't expect any more advanced features. You can make a signature for each account. I currently have 15 email accounts on Mailspring app. The biggest and very important negative issue is that you can't sync your settings if you reset your computer to new stage or get a new device, it's very important thing & I have no idea how Mailspring didn't add this.
I would recommend for someone who need very basic features from email client (send, receive, spam protection, signatures, markings...)
