I was sent the wrong item by food 52. There is no way to call them. I have sent them two emails and received not reply except for an automated immediate response. I would not order from them, they clearly don’t care about their customers at all. Not that this should matter, but this was an expensive item and I now plan to just ship it back instead of getting it in the color/material I ordered it in.

No response whatsoever from customer service. The only resource is a bot and FAQ's. I've submitted three requests for return, and no one has responded.
No gift card - no customer service - lousy company!
I sent 2 $100 outdoor lanterns as a gift for my mom for her birthday. Before sending I read a review where another person said they didn't include their gift card and I just brushed it off thinking that won't happen to me. Well, it did. No gift card. Mom contacted "Julie" at the company to see if she could find the sender and was told it was from a 3rd party. I should have ordered the lanterns directly from the manufacturer as they were the about the same price. Buyer beware - don't send a gift from this company. I won't ever order from them again. No phone number to get in touch with either.
NON-EXISTENT customer service
Purchased 12 place settings (approximately $1,000.00 U.S. dollars) of beautiful Degrenne flatware in Feb, 2022 which began to rust by early June. Reached out to “customer service” and to date, still no resolution, 25 emails later (with Zack and Melissa)! Thieves and liars. CLEAR risk to spend any kind of money with Food52. My previous flatware lasted 40 years without a problem, but thought I’d treat myself to this truly lovely flatware for the rest of my life (not a rich gal). HORRIBLE company but especially AWFUL people without consciences.
Awful customer service
Awful customer service. I ordered dinnerware in several sets of 4. Instead of sets of 4 plates and bowls I only received 1 of each. So a total of 25% of my order. This was a large order so several hundreds of dollars. When contacting Food52 they said they contacted the vendor, but are not getting an answer and there is nothing they can do about that. And that’s that: no resolution and they just took all the money. Unbelievable. Please do yourself a favor and don’t do business with them!
They wouldn't extend a discount code…
They wouldn't extend a discount code even though I was a "VIP" I explained I meant to submit the order the night before though I forgot and wanted to complete the order the next morning. The sale ended on Mother's Day at midnight (very busy day!)
My order was over $700 though they didn't want to consider my request at all.
I have shopped with them dozens of times and they wouldn't extend a one time courtesy. This is how you lose customers. Very disappointing.
The customer service rep was named Zachariah. He didn't want to try or send me request to someone above him who could make decisions.

This is the absolute worst place to shop. If you need to return anything and want your money back with out a headache DO NOT SHOP HERE!! they have no phone number just customer service people who give you the run around. I am still waiting to get my money back. Also they will not give it back to me on my card they made me open a pay pal account. After I wrote them and said ok and gave them my pay pal info i still DO NOT HAVE MY MONEY!!!
Insane return policy + fees
Insane return policy - $9 shipping on orders under $149, and then when you go to process your return they take another $9 return fee, and don't even add up your return correctly. On a roughly $75 order, they wanted to keep close to $20 of my money - at that point, I'd rather re-gift the item or donate it and take the $75 tax write off then let them keep $20 for processing a return. Will definitely not be doing business with them again. All for supporting smaller businesses than Amazon etc., but not ones with bad policies like this.
EDIT - Wrote this review after sending a message through their contact form, but before they responded. Now have heard back and they did a "one time waiver" of the fees, which is greatly appreciated. Does not change my personal opinion that their fees and policy structure for returns normally is bad, and while I don't wish ill on their business, I won't be ordering from them again.

I placed an order from them in November for an item they stated was shipping immediately. Mid-December and no shipment and no way to get in contact with them except an email saying we are shipping your order. No way to cancel. Thankfully, our credit card service is helping us get our money back. Terrible and deceitful company.
Shady Recurring Paypal Subscription In-Place After Order
I paid for a Food52 order via paypal.
After waiting for more than a week for shipping confirmation, I checked the paypal transaction to see if any tracking info. was in there and discovered that what should have been a one-time product payment was set up to be charged as a recurring subscription.
I eventually received the item I ordered, cancelled the "subscription" in paypal settings, and all now seems relatively fine, but I will never purchase anything through this site again and urge all to be careful with it. And, if you've used paypal with them in the past, check and make sure it's not set up as a subscription as that means they can charge you repeatedly.

AVOID THIS COMPANY. They take you money immediately on ordering the item and you do not receive your items.
My experience is the same as all the others. I ordered several items was given a delivery date and nothing showed up. After 35 days I contacted my credit card company to handle the matter.
Customer Service does not exist. 3 tries and nothing, I was told "It's your problem!" They provide Customer Service only through their website. There is no one to speak to in person.

Food52 feels like a scam
Food52 feels like a scam. I placed an order for $118, but needed to cancel it. I contacted them less than 24 hours later to cancel.
It's two weeks later, and I haven't received my refund and in fact, they charged me an extra $41! They said they had to do this because one of their vendors had mailed an item to me already. Now I've been charged $159 for a $118 order.
They swear up and down that they have credited me, and that it must be something with my bank. It's not. Thankfully my bank will file paperwork to recover the funds, but the situation is ridiculous.

Applied for a job here. They had me do a developer challenge. They replied and said they were very impressed and offered me another round of interviews then when I replied back asking about dates and times for the interview they completely ghosted me and never returned any of my emails or calls. The HR person "Ammie" still has not even had the decency to reply one way or another. Super unprofessional, speaks volumes about how mismanaged and inconsiderate these people are.
