I should've checked here first

First, I kept my old T-Mobile number. After a week my phone stopped working. I ended up just going ahead with getting s new number. Now Zi'm receiving two bills. One for $100, and another for $60.

I used chat to speak with customer service. They denied it happen. Now I'm on how forever. 40 mines

Mostly good; but sneaky advertising/terms/promotions.

I had Google Fi service for many years and was overall happy with the experience, but the quality has eroded over the last a few years. For example, they market their Unlimited Premium plan as being able to use your phone abroad and unlimited in many countries without needing a local SIM (which is true), but what they don't tell you (unless you read the fine print) is that you need to come back to the USA every few months and remain there for at least a month to not have your international data suspended. Thankfully, my phone has dual SIM, so when I was in Malaysia and they unexpectedly turned off my data, I was able to convert my Fi service to an eSim, change from the Unlimited Premium to the Flexible plan (so I could still have SMS/voice on my US number while abroad), and then I just installed local SIM cards for data as I traveled to different countries. Had my phone not been dual SIM, I would have lost access to my US number (and 2FA banking PINs, security codes, etc.) while abroad in a foreign country. Next, I was recently thinking of returning to Fi due to their new promotion to qualify for a nice phone discount/rebate. It clearly says in their marketing that a "new Fi customer" is someone who hasn't had Google Fi service for 180 days. But, even though my last date of service was July 27, 2025 and today is February 28, 2026, I am told today that I would not qualify for the promotion since 2 billing cycles need to fully complete to "end service" as they see it, so a reasonable observer would have easily been tricked into a contract and purchased a new phone without any discount. But, after doing some research, I learned about Tello as an alternative, while is lower cost and allows access to your US number while abroad without ever shutting off your service unexpectedly because you didn't come back to the US within a few months. On a positive note, the App is simple and easy to use, and the billing each month is clear and easy to read. Overall, Google Fi used to be great, until it wasn't.

I'm giving you one star because it has been okay for a few months but I tried to change my phone number and they gave me the same area code but a different phone number and said that I could not change it for 28 days. This is the worst customer service I've ever experienced with any phone company and I would never recommend them to anyone

Google should get out of the phone…

Google should get out of the phone business. And 1 star is too many stars! I'm expecting a class action suit again this branch of Google. It's down right fraudulent. The story: Google had a promo to join their service for 50% off the first year. Great! Then they said, we also have a promo for a watch which they kept advertising to me. Great! I'll buy some watches. Watches arrive and 10 days before the promo expires they say, "Activate your watch before you lose the promo." so I try activating them. Call support. They can't figure it out either. Oh wait. We can't honor that promo any more for you. You owe $400 for each of the watches. Full price. Sorry. It's because we had you do an esim and already had one promo on your account.
Oh, and we're going to continue to charge you for a phone line we're having trouble porting. So we charge you monthly ad so does tmobile. Oh. and our service is worse. Oh and we don't care whatsoever. Go kick rocks.

New and existing Fi customers are eligible for this offer I'm an active customer. After putting device on Fi line. I'm told I will be paying $400 extra, because I didn't port in a number. I tried using a current number from my Fi plan for 2 days. They wouldn't change the email. It was holiday so I said cancel I'll put phone on new line. My son is not a new customer. They aren't a customer. They don't pay. Also. I have a phone number we tried to use, which was over a year old. And you refused to change an email to my son's email. And we needed service activated. Either way. Do you allow service to 12 year old children? No. Also, I had been paying for the canceled line for over 12 months and you never activated service to it. And I totally forgot. Never an email or anything. So, you billed me 12 months for a line you never activated and now you're scamming $400 because you claim an "email" is a valid customer. An email is not an account. An email is not an entity. An email is not a social security. Do you have my child's social security? Than it's not possible it is a new customer. Either way, it says existing clients.

Bad Experience

My husband and I have had a very disappointing experience with Google Fi Wireless, and after multiple calls for help, we are switching to T-Mobile.

We have an important issue: our insurance company (and only our insurance company) cannot call either of our Google Fi numbers, which has jeopardized our renewal for 2026. I called Google Fi Support three separate times and followed every single troubleshooting step they suggested — twice. Nothing worked.

I finally requested a supervisor, and yesterday I received an email that essentially blamed the problem on our insurance carrier, even though the insurer has confirmed repeatedly that the issue is not on their end. They simply cannot connect to Google Fi’s routing to reach our numbers.

Here’s what’s most frustrating:
• Google Fi acknowledged they “cannot confirm a resolution.”
• They blamed the other provider despite the evidence.
• They offered no meaningful solution.
• This is an issue with Google Fi’s routing, not our insurance company.
• It is unacceptable when customers rely on these calls for essential services.

We are senior citizens on a fixed income. Something as basic as receiving a phone call shouldn’t be this difficult — especially after hours on the phone with support.

We are ending our service and switching to T-Mobile after this horrible experience. I hope Google Fi takes this seriously and improves their customer support and network reliability.

I have owned my phone number for many years and recently transferred it from T-Mobile to Google Fi. Google Fi never clearly stated that **you cannot activate their service outside the U.S.** — yet they allowed the number porting.
Now my number is locked with Google Fi, and T-Mobile cannot transfer it back. I’ve been without any service for *over 48 hours*. I have spent countless hours talking and messaging with both Google Fi and T-Mobile support, with zero resolution. The stress and frustration is affecting my mental and physical health.
Google Fi must immediately restore my service or release my number. They must also clearly warn customers: if you are outside the U.S., you **cannot activate** the line.
I will share this across all review platforms until this is resolved.

A rip off

A rip off. They get you on GB my $19 plan was always $60 to $80. They said because it switched from wifi to other service all the time. By the time I got my second bill I was out $150 and then took a month to cancel. Got Mint on sale for $15 a month unlimited and a year for $180

Good luck getting support for an damaged shipment!

FedEx listed the shipment as "Damaged - handling per shipper instructions. Recommended action: Please contact your shipper for more information." I initiated a web chat and sent screenshots of both the FedEx tracking and the Google Fi order. The agent informed me that the shipment is still en route to me. Despite my references to the provided screenshots and the tracking number, the agent insisted that my package is on its way. When I requested to speak with a manager, the agent refused. They stated that they would reach out to me in 24 hours to resolve my issue.

Approximately 26 hours later, I had received no communication, so I called customer service. I was asked to explain my situation again, even after referencing a ticket number. I requested that the agent look at the ticket so we wouldn't have to go over everything once more, but there continued to be confusion. I clarified that I didn’t receive a damaged item; the item simply never arrived.

After being placed on hold several times, the agent finally informed me that the item is on its way back to them and that they cannot ship me another device until it arrives. I inquired about what would happen if it never arrived, but they couldn’t provide an answer, only assuring me that everything would be alright. Now, here we are a week later, and I still do not have a device that I am paying for.

Scammed out of thousands

Was charged 2 times for a phone that was supposed to be free with an additional 500 being charged this all happened 3 months after leaving back to t-mobile. Was previously with Google fi with good experience but not this time scamming and robbing a good customer with no options as they lied to my credit card company and citi backed them immediately without any proof even though i had provided tracking number 3 months ago when filed. Google just recently said I never returned the defective phone. Why would someone try to steal a phone that is defective and worth only a few hundred? Nobody would that's why Google is stooping to this scamming

Was trying to be a customer, but customer service is so bad it scares me

Was trying to be a customer, but their customer service is so bad it scares me. I saw a promotion offered for new customers on one google account, but did not show up on the the google account that I wanted to activate a new phone on (my wife's). I spent hours on the support chat with people that had no clue. Google - Don't offer promotions for some accounts, but not for others, especially when the people are in the same household.

Just hope you never need customer service

If you thought regular telecom customer service was bad, you haven't met Google Fi. They will not refund you even for their own mistakes. We cancelled our 7-day free trial 4 days in and were still automatically rolled into a month of service. It didn't matter that we could show them the email saying that we had cancelled and we would not be charged. The other reviews here are correct: there are no higher-ups to appeal to, the reps claim if their automated system reflects a charge that it must be right, and they are unable to explain their own terms and policies. Three stars because the phone service itself seems alright so far.

Fine Service, Poor Customer Service

Google Fi has been charging me for 2 device protection fees for 27 months. I've only had one active device the entire time; the other was traded-in/returned to them. I've also only been paying for usage of one phone, so I'm not sure what device they were pretending to protect. It's $5/month for protection (so $10/month in my case), so they bank on the customer not noticing. Once I did, they refused to refund me because I didn't go into my account and cancel the protection on the inactive device, so it's a valid charge. What? The protection plan should automatically end when the device is inactive; what a way for a multi-billion dollar company to take advantage and then to not even rectify the situation. I've been with Google Fi for 5+ years, but I'm now looking to make a change.

Old customer needed new phone

When I switched to Google Fi, I had been with Boost Mobile for 20+ years. I switched because Boost had absolutely zero service where I moved and I needed a plan that didn't break the bank for 5 people... Fi has been decent for the most part but I have had the worst experience with buying phones. They use a bait and switch ad which advertises "buy and activate and keep service for 120 days to keep instant rebate." Shortly after activating, messages to "transfer a number from another carrier or lose your rebate" start coming. When you call to ask for clarification, you learn the fine print says you must keep active for 120 AND import a number... It doesn't matter my daughter is not a new customer, she lost her old phone and access to that email with it, so we created a new Fi profile with a new email and removed the old profile. They call that a new account, and won't help to reconciliate the two accounts into one. Great work for a multi billion dollar company to pad the bottom line off the backs of its customers with fine print... Just be sure to assume anything you buy from the Fi store will be full retail, not the advertised price. Yes, there is a little blue hyperlink to "see details" but their idea of "new customer" and "old customer who needs new phone with new email" are incompatible. Old customers needing new phones and new phone numbers with a new email get no consideration at all....

With all that being said, the service is great and I can use my phone most places I travel to with rare occasions of loss of connectivity. I travel on a lot of rural roads and that is impressive. Google Fi is a great carrier for phone services. Data is a bit slow in these rural areas but still usable. If they could bring their customer appreciation levels up to match the quality of the phone and data services, it would be a complete winner

I switched to Google fi because I figured they would know how to run a cell phone company wrong big time and nothing but problems since I switched I don't have the time or the patience to call every other day because of having issues so I have decided to switch toT-Mobile hopefully I have better luck with them google if u read this you have major problems internally fix your issues you're absolutely disgustingly horrible go back to California and get out of Boulder

I've had these guys service for 5 years…

I've had these guys service for 5 years a few little hiccups here and there but I'm telling you these guys come correct. Anytime we've had an issue with service or I somehow had to order a new SIM card or something without even contacting customer support if there is an interruption in their service that they are aware of and you were without service they compensate you for your bill without contact. I've received two months service because of issues they've had to deal with they have great service great deal on phones amazing financing it's Google let's go. Great service no issues let's get them new phones.
