Spent a weekend playing the game The Woods, so disappointed that we didn't get the point of this game!

This is the worst hunt a killer game I have ever played. Story was garbage, accompanying site was designed by someone with zero coding experience. Features don't work with mobile device. This really left a bad taste.

This was poorly put together, poorly linked, overpriced, etc. I could go on but I’ve already wasted enough of my life on this.

Got a 5 month subscription did the woods wasnt bad but not worth a second run. They renewed anyway against my choice as a forced subscription. They did this at 2am local time so we wouldn't see it to the following morning. Its gets worse the phone number listed in the email doesnt work, the terms and services link also is a dead link. They conveniently leave you just the email choice in which they state they dont check daily giving them enough time to force this on you. The website text assistant vaguely states a day as a standard response time. A day to text is beyond poor business practice. Given zero information or way to properly cancel a subscription I didnt accept is fraud. Do not order from them.

Really disappointed in The Mountain. We were given a gift subscription to Empty Faces and received The Woods as our first set of boxes. The Woods was great....interesting puzzles/codes, cool effects and a fairly well thought out storyline. We were excited to start The Mountain when it arrived but ended up very disappointed. Someone else said it best...these boxes were tedious..more work than fun! The codes and puzzles were difficult to sort out and when you did figure out the answer it lead to nothing. Lots of cipher and NO interesting effects. We did not even realize we had finished the boxes...there was no conclusion. I later learned that the person who gifted us the boxes only meant send us the first set of boxes, he got caught in the auto subscription renewal rip off. DO NOT PURCHASE THE MOUNTAIN!!!

We purchased the Hunt a Killer, and we really enjoyed that. We essentially wanted to try empty faces as we really like more puzzle solving rather than crime solving; however, we regretted the decision. Each box was a chore to get through.

We did the Mountain and it was tedious rather than fun. Each episode provides 8-10 well crafted and thought out items... but that is about it. There is no overarching goal, there is no linear path in any of the clues, there is no way to tell if the clue you figured out leads anywhere or it just stops. Most fun puzzles have you unlock one thing to move to the other, this literally has you try to solve random puzzles just to solve them. Imagine realizing the numbers in the letter are a code, then you spend the whole time solving that code, and when you solve it you get a phrase like "Higher Power" and then thats it. It doesn't lead to anything, it doesn't help put the story together, it was just there. Or another example, spend time getting a random phrase and think you're done. Then the reveal states something like "if you take the first letter of each phrase and type it into an empty web browser and add .com you get taken to a website".... then the website you go to is just non-sense and doesn't provide anything to the story.

In short, this was highly disappointing. It was not fun. I spent so much time trying to work through these then when I went to the reveal I became even more frustrated because there was no context on how to solve half of the clues.

Don't waste your time, at least with the mountain, but would still recommend To hunt a killer.

While I enjoyed the puzzles and games the subscription provided, canceling this subscription has proved to be a complete nightmare. I've sent multiple emails to "walter" since the only way you can cancel is via email but have received no response. Very disappointing.

Very disappointing. They sold it as each box has its own resolution and builds over a season (but you don't need a full season) which is completely untrue. I had no way of knowing if I was done with a box without going online and looking up the answers. You should feel some sort of sense of accomplishment when you're done! Not only was that missing, but the "finale" was a super disappointment as well. It HEAVILY relies on the internet which I was not anticipating/did not like. You can't hypothesize as to what is going on along the way because the story line has no basis in reality.

I was looking for something different to do with my husband--something unplugged that required some thinking and teamwork. What we got felt like homework and I ended up hate-playing it with some friends at work to get through it. We all agreed that it was a disappointment and a waste of time.

I was also tricked into an auto-renewing situation and tried to cancel and it took two extra boxes (that I was not refunded for) to get it to stop. Beware.

Absolutely NO customer service. Website says first episode ships same day as order. NOT TRUE. It's been 7 business days since they charged my card for my order. NO ONE responds to my messages. Beware this company.

Boxes are well crafted, but the company has a horrible auto renewal process. They make it seem like you are ordering just one storyline but Auto renew you when that storyline concludes without warning. When I cancelled the sub, they said the first box of the new story had already processed so they couldn't stop it, and only gave me a partial refund. When I said I would return the unopened box they refused to give me a full refund, stating it was company policy to not take refunds. This policy only exists to squeeze money out of the consumer there is no reason they shouldn't be able to take an unopened box back, or catch the box before it leaves the factory.

Beware of their predatory business practices.

This company is great! They really care about the content in the boxes. The first box took me awhile to crack- so many codes, such a cool story. The monthly deals are great- go for the 5 month one! They also let you know when the next box ships so you can check the tracking and etc. Love this so far. They obviously spend a lot of time on this content— it can’t be easy!

Only done box 1 so far. It's fun & interesting & I was surprised to get an actual pocket watch. The online community is helpful. My complaint is it seems a bit pricey, although if you manage to get discounts it's not so bad. I want to get box 2 & see if there's more to it cuz box 1 was a bit too short in my opinion

My daughter gave me a subscription to “Hunt a Killer” for Christmas and it was so much fun (box 1 and 2 so far) that I decided to try “Empty Faces” I love the puzzles and codes. I love the research and the detective work! The on-line community is very supportive and over all it’s just a very fun game!

My gf and I loved doing the first two episodes of The Woods. So much fun and a really cool story. Looking forward to completing it! The only issue we had so far was the packaging. The boxes were a little beat up and the necklace we got in the first box was broken. That being said it seems a bit over priced but we will continue with The Woods series and see how it turns out!

Our family ordered this for 6 months and, after the first box, wanted to cancel and get a refund.

First, we didn't realize this story builds month over month - I seriously thought we'd have a difference mystery each time. Secondly, the puzzles were too easy.

When I wrote to ask for a refund and cancellation I got a form email that all sales were final per their policy and they would cancel future renewals but that I'm out the $140 for the six episodes. Not very customer service oriented.

Am I the only one that was underwhelmed? We got episode one of the Woods.I My family and I got through the first package in one night. When I told my husband what I spent it, he made a disappointing face. The trinkets are cute, but the story is kind of boring and no anywhere near as evil as I was hoping. I won't be getting any more.

If you are considering buying, a few things to know. The "2 bottles of free wine" that is supposed to be part of the package, is actually another website you have to go to and register and then order-yadda, yadda. And when I went to the Empty Faces site it said it had a 25% discount applied at check out. I ordered the $140 package and got a $7.50 discount. I'm not so great at math, but that was clearly not the $28 I was promised. And after getting all the way through the process it turns out that this is a subscription, not a 5-month package--so 5 months from now I have to remember to turn it off. I had been looking at this as a gift for a few weeks and it's my bad that I didn't try to place the order sooner and learn all this 2 weeks ago. I sure hope the game makes my sister happy enough to make up for all the ridiculous bait and switch. Bad news.

A great way to pass a few nights trying to decipher the clues hidden in plane site and learning more about the mystery hidden in side

This is one of the best mystery solving experiences ever. The storylines are amazing and with the box of clues you receive monthly , keeps you wanting more..I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes to take a stroll on the dark side...
