extortion

extortion, fraud and liars, told me final bill was £1000, i paid in jan, then a month after the changeover another bill for 250. When queried, they say it was for dec, but the final bill was paid in Jan. so why was it not included in the final bill, no explanation, liars thieves and fraudsters

Beware, extremely misleading website!

I have been a customer of Electric Ireland for many years and am out of contract in January. Went to their website to see what was on offer and was given a recommended offer based on my MPRN which looked good and I signed up. Received an email the next day saying we were not eligible for the recommended offer after all and offered a new plan which is more expensive than we are paying now.

Customer service were useless just regurgitating the usual scripted answer even though the website is still offering us the original plan we applied for. No point in being loyal to any of these companies, will be changing supplier every year from now on for the best deal available.

Congratulations Electric Ireland for showing good customers the door!

 Rip off electric Ireland

Contract electric Ireland 2 weeks ago told them I was moving home but couldn’t give a Pacific date, I was told I could carry my account over to my new property and I would get my £100 top up, so contacted electric ireland today 24th June to make the switch over and then told I wasn’t be able to carry over supplier of electric ireland and I wouldn’t get the £100 top up I was promised total ripoff and a horrible customer service and experience. Ripped off Ireland

The worst electricity provider ever

The worst electricity provider ever. This company continue with their extortionist prices despite other providers having lowered theirs by a considerable amount. The last estimated bill was more than twice what we would normally use and Electric Ireland ignored the meter readings that I submitted to them. Even in my final bill for which a meter reading was provided and this too was an over- estimation. Appalling money grabbers who should be avoided at all costs.

Switched to EI on 22/12/23

Switched to EI on 22/12/23. First bill issued on 18/4/24 due on 25/4. Before I could pay first a second was issued and apparently I am now in arrears and overdue. Call to customer service (ha ha) confirmed that you are treated as being on arrears the second they issue the bill!!!!!. I am also treated as overdue by their because I hadnt paid to be first bill before the second was issued even though it wasnt due until after the second was issued.

Absurdly disorganised and irresponsive

Absolutely terrible company to work with. They sent me an electric bill corresponding to a period I wasn't even living in the property. After reaching out to their support, they asked for proof, which I promptly provided. They never got back to me and are still charging the same amount incorrectly. Even if they resolve the issue as soon as tomorrow in the morning, my opinion here wouldn't change. Please, do not engage with them or provide any personal details. They somehow managed to "create" an account under my name before I was even living in Northern Ireland (and I've never had an account with Electric Ireland before).

AVOID HIDDEN CHARGES

I decided to explore other options for a better deal and called to inquire about the process since I was currently in a one-year contract. I was informed that the switch would take approximately a week. Therefore, I proposed initiating the switch before the contract's end date to ensure a smooth transition. They agreed. However, I initiated the process just one working day before the contract's end on November 14th. To my surprise, they charged me early exit fees, which appears to be a recurring concern for others as well. I plan to report this to the consumer council. This is truly disappointing!

Electric Ireland bogus early exit fee

This company is without doubt the worst I have ever had to deal with and I will NEVER EVER use them again as my electricity supplier.When my contract with them ran out I switched suppliers but was charged £40 early exit fee even though I had proof that when I left them I was out of contract.They are so difficult to contact as it takes up to an hour to get through on the phone and when you do eventually get through the staff are unhelpful and surly.Only after I threatened to contact the consumer council was the £40 dropped.My advice to anyone thinking of switching to Electric Ireland is AVOID,AVOID,AVOID.

Why would I try to contact Electric Ireland and waste another 90 minutes trying to get through on the phone?
My issue has been resolved already after I threatened to contact the Consumer Council.It took them 5 months to reply to my review which just goes to show how much they valued my custom.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!

Horrendous cost per day.

Changing provider now as I'm out of contract. We can't keep paying the rates they are charging anymore. I'm paying £30 in a meter every few days now and it's just sucking the life out of the electric. I turn off everything and i mean everything not being used at all times and yet it still doesn't change the amount we are having to pay...roughly nearly £400 a month.

Potentially scammed me to lock me into…

Potentially scammed me to lock me into longer contract at very high cost, very difficult to set up account and see bills, long waits to get through to call centre.
I signed up in November to a reduced rate at 13p/kWh, seemed too good to be true. Bills were huge, I couldn’t see the bills and couldn’t get online account, in April I got a call saying I wasn’t put in the best rate and should be on a 10% discount rate, would I like to change, of course I said yes, but was unaware that this changed my contract date to another 12 months at 40p/kwh. I still can’t see the bills to work out how my rate has changed so much. Will be putting in formal complaint

Never want to deal with this provider again... from the start they got my name wrong in the contract and now hit me with a unrealistic bill... changing providers.

Cant even speak to customer care lol

Absolutely awful experience and no way…

Absolutely awful experience and no way to resolve. Landed at my door promising the world to make me sign up. Told me to sign up even though I was selling my property. Told I could transfer at no cost and no cancellation fee to old supplier. Can’t transfer, had to pay £40 cancellation fee to old supplier, had to sign up again at new house. Asked to set up monthly direct debit of set amount, been three months no DD set up, rang 10+ times either sit over an hour on hold and have to give as only get one hour lunch or else the phone answers and no one speaks then hangs up. Emailed took two weeks for someone to ask for my account number in reply, provided my account number and never heard back. I want to cancel and I can’t even get hold of anyone to do that. Absolutely at my wits end

Stay well clear

Stay well clear. Customer service doesn't exist. Sent umpteen emails replying to their texts to either Support@ or Supply@ and have had nothing. Been on hold for hours on phone with no one answering. Done the £5 top up as suggested to reset meter and stil itl isn't working. This is 4 days without power and 1 day on emergeny credit of £3.
This company is an absolute shambles. Stay well clear.

Contacted NIE and within minutes they rang to say someone will be out to fix my meter.
ELECTRIC IRELAND. This is what customer care and service really is.
Not repeat texts and NO communication.

awful!!!!

I must say, my recent experience with Electric Ireland NI has been quite disappointing. I recently returned from a three-month holiday, only to be greeted with a shockingly high electric bill of £240, despite the fact that no one has been using electricity during that time.

My frustration grew when I attempted to contact their customer service for assistance. Over the past two days, I've spent a total of 3 and a half hours on hold, desperately trying to reach a representative, only to be met with silence. This level of unresponsiveness is simply unacceptable.

In all honesty, it's disheartening to encounter such a lack of service quality from a company that should be committed to providing essential services to its customers. Electric Ireland NI has left me deeply dissatisfied and frustrated with their lack of communication and apparent disregard for their customers' concerns.

I would strongly caution anyone considering using their services to think twice and explore other options. My experience has been nothing short of disastrous, and I believe that better service providers are available in the market who value their customers and provide a more reliable and responsive service.

Dreadful service

Dreadful service. Dreadful customer service! This company is a disaster - please avoid. When are you going to fix my keypad meter and restore my electric. Hours and hours on hold and no answer. Disgusting.

No electricity for days, company don't care.

Friends now 4 days into no electricity. Electric Ireland just don't care, hours on the phone (thankfully they have a landline), staff say someone will ring back and nobody ever does. DO NOT sign up with them. Absolutely horrendous service.

EDIT; Reply from them shows they did not read the review properly, just giving a default response and don't care that thousands of households had no electric for DAYS over the weekend due to an issue with their prepayment meters. I wouldn't use them if you paid me. Diabolical customer service for an essential utility.

Terribly organized company

Terribly organized company.
Every time you have a query, you will need to ring and its usually a 10 minute wait, with another 10 minutes added for the inevitable wait for a supervisor. The support staff on the phone act as if they have no training, they just rifle off whatever is in front of them. Then the supervisors will come on and be equally oblivious.
I asked questions about my bills estimations and they fob it off to gas networks Ireland or the ESB. There is no ownership, they are simply a company that takes your money and wont help you with your issues.

Absolute disgrace of a company.

Absolute disgrace of a company.
Without electric now for almost 2 hours. Was on hold for an hour only to be told there was nothing they can do to help and to contact NIE. Got through to NIE and they said that electirc ireland have to fix this fault.
I've two small children in my home and someone with a disability. I need electic on now.
I'm currently on hold again.
