Excellent all round experience - very easy pick-up and drop-off, superb customer service and exactly the vehicle we ordered and needed, in perfect condition. Easily surpasses many encounters with the other ‘big’ names.

On returning the car to Faro airport thids morning the agent tried to scam us. Asked if we had checked the car for damage before taking the car. I said yes. He then pointed to a bump on the bonnet, implying it was new. I protested saying nothing had happened to the car while we had it. He then said that that bump wasn’t marked in the paperwork but that HE knew it was there. Weird. Avoid

We have just had the BEST service from Drive4fun. We have used the company since 2006, finding the whole process of hiring to be smooth, fair and friendly and this is the first time we gave had any problem with a car. This afternoon our Panda developed a screeching noise that sounded like the fan belt. We called the office as soon as we were back at our house and they were so helpful and efficient. They spoke to their mechanics and within an hour, a replacement car was brought to our accommodation and swapped for a new one. No hassle, no questions, friendly, reassuring and ultra quick. There's no wonder we wouldn't consider going anywhere else and can't recommend them enough. Thank you so much and see you in March for a bulk booking when we are bringing the whole family. Rented a car twice from drive4fun in Faro. All went perfectly well. Found the pickup spot easily and collection / drop off very professional and helpful. Prices are good and there is no pressure to buy additional insurance or upgrades.

Wow in 32 years hiring a car in Portugal, this was the very best experience we have had. From collecting the car at 12.30am to dropping it back two weeks later, we cannot speak highly enough of Drive 4 Fun. Joajo Vieina was very personable and everything was straight forward with no hidden costs. Joajo could not have been more helpful and eleviated us of all our worries from past experiences.Excellent from start to end. We will definitely book with them next year. This is the hire company to watch as they will go far. Well done.

Wish I had looked at these reviews before booking through Zest Car Rental. I have hired cars many times in Portugal and this has been my only bad experience. Car was not handed over properly with the operator giving us a damage report that he had scribbled over, saying the car was in a poor state and only to come back if there was major damage. After our weeks rental he inspected the car and charged us for a damaged tyre (which I accept can happen anytime) and an old looking chip on the passenger door, which I know was not caused by us. Despite pointing out that the damage report on handover showed all panels damaged he said this was new damage. Never had any issues in Portugal before - AVOID

Hired a car from them via Zest. Asked for a Skoda Camiq and that’s what we got. The car had some small dinks and scratches to it and could have been cleaner. Especially the big sat nav ring in the windscreen but nothing too major. No hard sell at collection and told we didn’t need the transponder as we were staying around the A22 which I didn’t know about. Returning the car again was no issues. Some damage was spotted on the car, a small scratch but was told no issues. Would use again if we go back to Portugal and definitely will use Zest.

I thought I would add some balance to the negative responses here. I have used Drive4fun for several years now in conjunction with Zest and cannot fault them. Most cars have been in great condition but as with any company, it is advisable to check over them yourself, via notes or video. Any problems/discrepancies should be brought to their attention before driving away. There are speed cameras all over Faro now, so extra care needs to be taken to adhere to correct speeds. On half a dozen + cars hired so far, I have not had any extra costs.

The staff have always been helpful, friendly and professional. Last time I picked up a car there were big crowds at ALL car hire desks as Faro does get very congested at passport control, post Brexit. Some clients were inevitably turning up far later than the allocated reservation time, so tempers were flaring, due to cars being booked out. Drive 4 Fun did not seem to have any problems at all though and staff kept a friendly and professional outlook.

Drive4fun are always my first choice for car hire at Faro.

Second time this company had tried to extort money from us .
This time they claimed we had damaged car , unlucky for them we had taken video of car on collection the damage was clearly visible we also had zero excess and top up insurance so it wouldn’t cost us
Agent claimed video wasn’t clear he said he would check with desk if damage was there on collection the call took 6 seconds he then said damage was on car on collection the call took about 6 seconds . It was obviously a scam

Now April 2025 and still no deposit back from last Nov .
If you use this company don’t pay a deposit with a debit card as we don’t seem to have a leg to stand on . Zest who we booked through have been no help either with getting our money back.

Avoid at all costs. When I returned the car to Faro airport the woman there accused me of putting a scratch on the car. There was no scratch! And when I refuted it, she told me it didn't matter because they had my deposit. She was very rude. If you do decide to rent a car of these scam artists then make sure to take an up close video of every inch of the car! They charged me €300 for this so called scratch. Will never use them again and will advise friends and family of the same.

Best car rental company at Faro Airport used them for several years without a problem

De medewerkser was niet vriendelijk en handelde geaggiteerd en zoek zelf de auto maar. 30 euro voor afleveren vr 8u stond niet op de voucher vooraf. Wij om 7u30 maar er was wel iemand dus afzetterij. Hadden beter eerst valiezen ingecheckt en dan sleutel afgegeven. Jammer dat de 30 euro gepusht werd want most 2u vooraf zijn vr vlucht en niet 1u30. Nu hopen dat we geen schade aangerekend krijgen of stofzuigkosten of boete zonder feiten en er vlug terugbetaald wordt.
Auto was ok.

€25.Admin.?I was also charged a fee when I got home for parking in wrong place,I parked where they told me,I'm 25 years driving out of faro airport I know carpark very well.Oh and no speed mentioned.They also freeze €500.on your card.

Scam!!! Please avoid at all cost ! My trip was in late Sep all finished , they tried to take my money today on Nov 28th. Good that Revolut account flagged that to me and terminated my card. I would also warn Zest ( the UK company ) not to use them, or perhaps they are part of it .

Had a great experience with Drive 4 Fun at Faro airport. Very speedy process to collect the car and return. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the car itself was in great condition. Would definitely use again and can recommend.

Drive 4 fun ripped us off on returning the car.
When we picked the car up it was dark, so we couldn't do a full examination.
On return there was some very minor scratching to the door. (which would polish out), but they charged us 450 euros.
Even if we had done the damage, which we didn't, this was maybe 100 euro repair. Scammers!

Spent many hours trawling the reviews of the countless car rental companies out of Faro Airport. Had almost come to the conclusion that an honest company didn't exist and that we were going to be scammed regardless. Until we came across Drive4Fun via Zest. Reviews were widely positive so we bit the bullet and booked with them.

Turns out you shouldn't believe the reviews.

Have been charged 300 euros to replace a windscreen for a small dent caused by something bouncing off the road onto the windscreen. We didn't notice this happen so presumably it must have been a small stone. The dent is a maximum of 5mm diameter and less than 2mm deep. The local representative clearly saw us coming as there is no way this required a full windscreen replacement - online Portuguese research confirms that the dent in the windscreen was not warranted for a replacement.

Disappointing end to an otherwise great trip.

Honest and reliable car hire at Faro airport. After returning the car, I realised I’d left a bag in the car when I boarded the flight. By the time I landed Drive4fun team had left a voicemail to say they had found it. They were easy to communicate with via email/phone to organise return. Excellent customer service. Will definitely be hiring from them again.
