We have worked with Dilys for over 9 years now and its been a pleasure so far. We have successfully completed over 25 projects together from new builds to extensions and Grade I & Grade II listed renovations, always completing within schedules set due to Dilys' excellent organisation of each job.
Dilys is a really easy going lady, down to earth and easy to get on with, but at the same time keeps a professional attitude to each project she works on.

I have worked with Dilys on two projects now - converting two houses to B&Bs, with extensive work on both a listed building and old farmhouse, and creating a garden room, and I would highly recommend her. Dilys has a huge wealth of knowledge and experience with new and old builds which she brings to any project, but unlike many others, while she’s got lots of ideas she’s also very good at listening to what you want, and finding ways of making it work. She’s great at leaving you in charge of your own build, rather than imposing or bullying her solutions, but will push to make sure that you’re on top of decision making and not holding things up. She’s full of good ideas from design to completion and has an enormous range of experience. There’s also never an ‘I told you so’ moment if you choose not to take her advice but pursue your own course: she is straight up AND kind, which is a rare combination. She also brings with her fantastic working relationships with a range of incredibly skilled and trustworthy builders, joiners and plumbers which is worth its weight in gold. They all work well together so when, as ALWAYS happens on a build, something unexpected turns up or is held up, she is on top of it straight away and rearranges things quickly and efficiently. Not only do the team do their own jobs well, but when there’s a problem they all get together to solve it - whether electrical, laying tiles or working round a joist problem. It’s a joy to have them around, and Dilys doesn’t work with anyone long term who isn’t good at their job and is a pleasure to be with. It’s a challenging time, and she and her team make it enjoyable a lot of the time, and are there with help and solutions for when problems arise, as they always do.
On top of her expertise Dilys’ great qualities are also her enthusiasm and unflappability. She will always see potential and find solutions which is a life saver for those moments in any build when things aren’t going to plan and a supplier has fallen short. Dilys’ time more than pays for itself over the course of a build through avoiding expensive mistakes, getting the right materials and supplies, and just managing those time consuming and painful tasks of rearranging workers around changes in delivery times or some such. She is also really good at advising on how not to go mad with spend and getting carried away with ever more expensive choices for fittings and sending the whole thing way over budget. Both build projects have left me with beautiful and quality homes with no hidden surprises or faults. I will always use Dilys for any build project in the future.

We used Dilys to project manage a huge oak-frame and glass kitchen extension in 2013. I had lacked the courage to do it myself, but with her help we achieved exactly what we were hoping for on schedule and in budget, and it is still, 8 years later, an amazing space with no issues at all. I did do the next bit of our renovation project without her help because I thought it would save me money, but it took me nearly a year to accomplish a tenth of what we had done together, and in the end I realised this was a false economy. Therefore when I had to help my mother with planning on a listed building (which we got but my mother decided not to proceed with), and the subsequent renovation of a different house in a conservation area, I absolutely knew we needed to employ Dilys again. She did not let us down and we turned around the project in record time, and on budget to make a beautiful, light-filled space for my mother, who is thrilled with the result (2018), especially as it has more than paid for itself in the increase in value to the property. I am now (2021) about to undertake a new project on a tiny listed house we are in the process of purchasing as a holiday let, and I have already engaged her services for when the build starts, hopefully in Autumn. She is experienced, optimistic and has a really great team of trades she can recommend, who are self employed but know and work alongside eachother seamlessly. She has the vision for contemporary projects, and the knowledge to deal sensitively with old buildings. I have always been involved in each project in terms of running the budget and design brief, but have really valued her help and advice in sourcing cost effective materials and solutions, keeping within a tight budget and how to deal with historic materials and their associated issues. Although I have not used her for a newbuild, I would have no hesitation in doing so.
Finally, I should say that no one I know has ever said they missed the builders and the project manager after the build was finished, but we did. They were a great team and never let me down.

Unfortunately, we cannot fully recommend this Project Manager. We used her to manage our housebuilding project in 2019-20, which was a 4-bed newbuild bought from a timber frame manufacturer. The house is wonderful, but the construction experience was more stressful than it needed to be. That may have been just our experience, but we would strongly advise that you should get at least three references from clients over the last three years.
