Poor Customer Service - Predatory Attempt to Sell 3rd Party Product to the Elderly

I attempted to book a flight with my Chase Freedom card and the transaction was declined. My need to book the flight at a favorable fare was time sensitive. When I call their customer service number, I was solicited for a free medical device for the elderly and connected to a voice response unit. In order to exit from this I had to hang up and call again. On my second call I was able to verify charges through a voice response unit and my account had the freeze removed. Given that people make customer service calls when they are experiencing issues with their accounts. The attempt to sell a product before resolving the customer's issue is frustrating and exceptionally poor customer service. It is particularly predatory to try to sell the the elderly who are already likely confused by the complicated AI/Voice Response customer service system.

DoorDash benefits are becoming unusable…

DoorDash benefits are becoming unusable with their multiple bogus fees and service policies. They have now changed their pickup order minimums to $20. Non-alcoholic beverages and juices are treated as alcoholic and so the benefit does not apply to them fully! You should really take it up with them as we are pretty going to have to forget about this useless benefit!

Problem with Chase Credit Fraud Unit


Very very disappointed with chase credit fraud procedures. On april 20 2026 i placed a small amount order (under $150) with a highly reputable vendor -Amazon. My credit account at that time had no outstanding balance and i had a credit limit that was much higher than the charges made.

Chase denied this payment. I still cant understand why. When i spoke with them the rep claimed it looked suspicious. Lol. Good customer with solid credit, never missed a payment, a highly legitimate purchase vendor and the product mailing address was a more than 3 yrs home address. Unfathomable to me why the bank didnt contact me before denying. Not the type of financial institution i want to have a relationship with.

LESSON LEARNED… NO THANKS TO CHASE

I’ve bee with Chase for 9 years. I have a business account, a personal account and a credit card with Chase. About two years ago they dropped credit $1,100.00 . I’m a good standings with all my accounts. I have a mid 700 credit score. All my payments are made on time. I keep a low DTI none of that makes sense.
Let’s move all that over. I made a stupid mistake by opting in on three charges literally which equals less than $300. Come to find out you cannot opt out, even trying to pay off those charges unless you pay off your entire balance. Nowhere do they give that information . I Spoke to a representative, then his supervisor they will not do anything. So I have to pay off my entire balance. So I did. What about people? They don’t have that money? Chase is not good. They’re scum.
That’s what I get on trying something I didn’t need to do. LESSON LEARNED.

The service from Chase Bank is appalling

The service from this company is truly appalling. There were some fraudulent transactions on my Amazon Prime credit card issued by Chase Bank. The card was replaced and the letter with the card stated "Your card has been set as your default payment method a Amazon.com....".

It did not happen and I asked several times for an explanation. I have had 3 separate replies and not only did I not get an explanation, but there was no reference of any kind to my question.

Deceptive and misleading practices, Buyer Beware

Using my Chase Prime Visa, I purchased a 3K item and chose the Amazon option for 12 monthly payments at 0% interest. This option foregoes the 5% points from the purchase.

However, today when I looked at my statement online, Chase said my purchase was eligible for extended pay, and for that option they wanted to charge me monthly fee of $39.77 to get no interest on this purchase for 12 months.

I will pay the purchase off this month, but Buyer Beware, Chase is using misleading and deceptive practices with their No interest option through Amazon.

After having this reserve card since…

After having this reserve card since Dec of 2025. I think a review of it is overdue.

It’s expensive but you get money back on things so it’s not for everyone. I ran into trouble with one of their cashback offers on Jan 16 I saw an offer for zenni optical I just got a pair of glasses from my eye dr so when I saw the deal I thought great I can get a back up pair. So that Fri I click on the cash back offer and it took me to the zenni site I ordered and like before it was seamless. They were delivered in a week now I waited for my cash back. Didn’t come. So I called Chase. They told me everything was good and it was on track just be patience. Weeks go by. Chase blames zenni at first so I put a bad review on trustpilot. Zenni reached out told me that Chase is the one that takes care of this. So I escalate to have a resolution with Chase 2 months later they say well you order Fri the offer was starting that sat. I ask why would they put the offer up if it wasn’t good , they even accused me of ordering them than seeing the offer the next day. Wrong I had no intention until I saw the offer and clicked on it. This is to me a bait and switch
I do not recommend this card and will not renew with Chase or with any of their other credit cards. Seriously don’t recommend their credit cards

Chase reserve credit card does not…

Chase reserve credit card does not payout the benefits after spending $795 in USA. In spite of booking restaurant reservation via open table exclusive they still have not credited the $150 bi annual credit as per benefits. In another incident booking travel to benefit $250 credit either IHG and Minor hotels, I found myself during checkin the travel department credit card did work even this was prepaid by me. This ended up I paying again. I am in process of cancelling my Chase sapphire reserve card and would not recommend at all as one would not get any of the credit card benefits as stated.

Every time to log in I must call customer service and it takes 15 minutes for them to answer the phone

I have a United Club card. I cannot log into my account. The website takes me through several hoops and Cycles back around to never let me in. The only way I can look at my account is by calling the customer service number. It takes 15 minutes to go through all the options to finally speak to someone to log in. Then, they finally issue me a code number to log in. The initial login process provides a code and never accepts that code.

Chase Sapphire -- great service

Great job with a `9 fraud charge. They alerted us and acted quickly. Replacement cards for 5 members of the family out the door in in our hands in 48 hrs...no disruption in automatic charges...

Worst user and customer service of any card/bank

Worst user and customer service experience for any card and bank.

I thought having to deal with Chase as a bank was bad enough (I was happy to be able to close my father's accounts in 2018 due to their gross incompetence), but I'm stuck with having to deal with them as a credit card issuer due to their relationship with Amazon. Of all of my credit cards, the Chase/Amazon card is the most painful to deal with. The following are some issues that drive me crazy with this card:

* Annoying login process: There does not appear to be a way to designate a trusted browser or location for their login process. I don't have a problem with needing to provide my ID/Password for each login, but they insist on sending a secondary code for *every* login (most other cards will allow me to specify a trusted browser or at least cache the authentication for a reasonable time period). To make it even more irritable, I have to enter my password twice for their login process: Sign-in->ID->Password...Code Prompt delay...Code->Password->Logged-in (finally). What's the point of insisting on the Password a second time? It was validated before the secondary code.

* They randomly disable transaction notifications: Because of the way Amazon sometimes splits charges for a single order, I rely on the credit card notifications for my bookkeeping. I was wondering why I had missed entering some charges when reconciling this last month's statement, and found that Chase decided I no longer needed to see them and disabled that notification setting. Grrrr.

* They refuse to save the bank account I would prefer to use for my cashback transfers: I have tried multiple ways to link and save my checking account info, but Chase refuses to remember the bank and account info. I have to re-enter the info every time I want to do a cashback transfer. All of my other cashback cards handle linking or saving preferred external bank accounts without issue.

I so wish that Amazon would change the bank they work with for their Prime Visa.

Chase credit cards have zero protection against services fraud

I just went thru my second battle with Chase Sapphire Reserve over services fraud. Both times I had clear evidence of the services I used were over charged on my CC yet Chase made it clear that they are not there to help. If I used a service and the company over charges, the extra charge is between me and the company. This time it may cost me $2000 from a fraudulent car rental in Florida (Sonic Car Rental, dba probably under several names, this one "Advantage" in Tampa). This was a deposit that they planned to keep for 25 business days after the car was turned in with no issues, and the high amount was because I wouldn't pay their $150/day fee for using my own "qualified" insurance. The online agreement required none of that but they had me when I needed the car and options weren't available. I explained to chase that it was just a deposit and they were keeping it too long. But chase basically said, my problem. I have a Chase Private Client account and pay $550/year for that credit card and they do nothing for me! Seriously if you have a Chase card, don't expect Chase to assist in anything. If you don't have one, go somewhere else, Chase is not your friend

Chase Saphire Reserve unresponsive

New fee is now $795. One benefit, an important one, is the $300 travel credit. Well this year they say we already got it, but we did not. Have called them 3 times 1 per week, they escalated, answer very polite and apologetic, but somewhere in their company somebody does not care and nothing has been done, why??
Do they really care or just train to say 'I am sorry and do nothing'!
Hard to cancel as have accumulated points and have used the points to book hotels that will use in a few months. Very frustrating. Also they have a new benefit, the Hotel Edit Program with a $200 credit if booked and they give you free breakfast and $100 to spend in the hotel, but it will NOT accumulate points if you get the $200, kind of think we are dummies. Shame on Chase for the slow response and for trying to think we just see the benefits without going in detail. Very dissappointed with Chase!!

Chase Sapphire Reserve won't provide proof of Evacuation coverage

Chase Sapphire Reserve offers Emergency Evacuation insurance, but refuses to provide a "Certificate of Insurance that the tour operator wants to prove you have coverage. They will provide for a car rental but not for evacuation? Since tour operators want proof, the coverage-which is an important part of justifying the $795 annual fee, it means you have to buy added coverage from a third party!!

UA Travel Insurance appears to be a scam

Purchased 4 United Airlines tickets on the Chase UA card. The flight was canceled, so we lost a day of vacation. Filed the paperwork to show incurred expenses. As of Feb 2026, Chase UA and Virginia Surety refuse to cover any loss.

If you value your company and its reputation and resources...

Chase Payment Processing's reason for freezing $54,462.89 of my company's clients and customers' fiduciary funds:

"We terminated your merchant services account ending in 5924 for contract violation under Subsection
7.1B of the agreement we provided you when you opened the account.
We have placed funds totaling $54,462.89 in reserve due to the account termination. These funds will
remain in reserve until the 180-day post-termination period has passed, to cover any exposure to the firm.
We may require a reserve to protect us against risks from your use of the service, including chargebacks,
refunds, and card network liabilities, or to protect our ability to collect and recover amounts you owe us,
as described above. We will notify you of the amount of any required reserve, which we will determine in
good faith. We will hold and control any required reserve.
When we determine that the reserve is no longer needed, we will return all unused reserve funds to you.
Our right to require a reserve will survive termination of this Agreement. This means this section will
remain in effect even if you or we terminate the Agreement."

no computer online service available, with over a decade with same computer and internet I.P., without speaking and sharing private financial information with a foreign operator each time I wish to maintain my business relationship with Chase online. while all my other banks provide seamless online business, seriously considering excluding Chase from my portfolio.

Travel Insurance Benefit is an Absolute Nightmare: Over a Year of Delay Resulting in Denial

The so-called "travel insurance" provided by Virginia Surety Company, Inc., as a core benefit of my Chase card, has proven to be nothing more than a cruel, bureaucratic nightmare, especially in a time of crisis. After having to cancel a trip due to the sudden, tragic illness and eventual passing of a family member—a situation that should unequivocally qualify under any reasonable policy—the claims process became an unforgivable ordeal. Despite diligently uploading all required documentation, including the tragic circumstances that led to the cancellation, my claim for non-refundable airline tickets was dragged out for over a year. The process involved endless delays, zero empathy, and frustrating radio silence, only to culminate in a final denial. This benefit is advertised as peace of mind, but in reality, it is a deliberate and cruel obstacle course designed to wear down claimants, hoping they will simply give up.

For a Chase card that carries significant annual fees and purports to offer premium benefits, this abysmal claims administration is frankly embarrassing. I spent countless hours over twelve months resubmitting documents and chasing status updates, only to have the claim denied on technical grounds that fundamentally ignore the devastating reason for the cancellation. The experience, which should have been a straightforward application of a promised benefit, instead added immense stress and financial loss to an already heartbreaking family tragedy. Prospective cardholders need to understand that this benefit is functionally useless. Do not rely on Virginia Surety Company, Inc. or Chase's card benefits to be there for you when you need them most; you will lose your money, and you will be utterly let down.

God help you if you make a benefits claim for travel

We had good experience with this card for years in using the travel benefits like the lounges overseas, and getting airfare with points - then we tried to use their "travel protection." Two years ago I made a minor claim for trip cancellation and trip interruption where the international flight was delayed by a day when the luggage did not arrive for two days. I diligently kept copies of every piece of documentation available and explained why some just do not exist. Now for years I just get a run around.
Then this year tried to make a claim for damage to a rental car in Spain. Again every piece of information available was provided to them. They keep asking for the exact same documentation (provided to them 4 times already!) and other documentation that again overseas just does not exist.
Very disappointed.
One final footnote is that the card is not very good for making hotel reservations as they cover only a small subset of hotels that apparently are available because they have plenty of capacity. Very limited choice.
