What else can you say about this…
What else can you say about this organisation that hasn't been said already. Basically waste of time and money and worse thing is people are suffering and there's nowhere to go for help. The public just has to accept it.
Absolutely useless waste of time and…
Absolutely useless waste of time and space.....The CQC should be closed down as it serves no useful purpose.....
I made a complaint about St John's Hospice who cruelly put my Father on end of life care without our knowledge or consent as we only sent him there to give us two weeks financial respite as we had been self funding his private care...... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WAS DONE.....
My Mother recently died horrifically after an unsafe discharge from the Wellington Hospital and bled to death less than a month of her discharge....... Reported to the CQC and again ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WAS DONE!!.....Why does this sham of an organisation exist......I see mostly 1 star reviews which speaks volumes....
CQC should be abolished!
The CQC are not interested in investigating concerns regarding the quality or care of patients. It is certainly not independent/impartial as it is funded by the care providers themselves. The CQC is toothless government organisation that does nothing. The British public deserve a proper regulator.
BAD BAD BAD BAD incompetence…
BAD BAD BAD BAD incompetence incompetence in competence and competence absolutely Wasted Time useless people the wilderness spoke to about as miserable with anything bloody armous out you absolutely one out of a miserable woman.. CQC basically nothing but nothing really don't mean nothing on your side absolutely scan this useless blooming CQC just like the government..
TOOTHLESS REGU.LATOR
How does this body manage to be paid for doing very little? The last reviews we have for our surgery are from 2019 and described as good. Really? With serious delays getting blood tests, seeing a GP, getting help with chronic conditions, how could that be possible?
CQC seems another toothless regulator and is not helping patients. It's a waste of tax payer DoH grants and what is the point having a body who is funded by the institutions they allegedly investigate? Only in neo-liberal Britain could this be so.
Very poor and dangerous outfit.
Abolish - not fit for purpose.
Pathetic tick box exercise. Five might turn up and not see abuse right under their noses. Not noticing residents had been in the lounge all day and not a single person was toileted all day. Not noticing that facilities were not appropriate for a nursing home. Not noticing that staff levels were inadequate but will hyperfocus on tiny details of medication administration. Jobsworths the lot of them.
Nicholstown surgery southampton
Nicholstown surgery - Wajeeha Rashid - Disgusting is the only word that describes it.
CQC in my opinion are NOT working to…
CQC in my opinion are NOT working to protect the public, it fails to recognise peoples safety and issues raised by the public, there are no duty to the public, they do not communicate with the public, and do not follow up on any issues concerned.
A Regulator That Fails to Regulate – People at Risk
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is supposed to protect the public from unsafe and negligent health and social care services. My experience proves the opposite.
I reported serious negligence by my community mental health team, including the fact I had video evidence of failings. The CQC never asked to see it. How can a regulator investigate properly without requesting or reviewing evidence?
I also raised concerns about Chris Badger, formerly with Hertfordshire County Council Adult Care Services, where my mum was neglected to the point of suffering two hip fractures. Despite this track record, he is now part of the CQC, regulating the very kinds of services he worked for. This is a blatant conflict of interest — how can he be impartial when regulating former colleagues and departments?
This is not just poor regulation, it is systemic negligence. In my opinion, the CQC has breached its duty under:
The Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 – particularly Regulation 12 (safe care and treatment) and Regulation 17 (good governance).
The Care Act 2014 – duty to protect adults at risk of harm and neglect.
When the CQC fails to regulate adequately, it puts lives at risk. Vulnerable people are left without protection, and families are left fighting legal battles to get justice. This should be classed as criminal negligence, not just “service failings.”
One more absolutely useless Government…
One more absolutely useless Government body: I got a call and an answer from them in a year! This organisation was listed as an addressee for a complaint procedure of "CastleView Dental", but after 350 days they answered me "We can help you in the Court". Why I am in the Court? Because the Dentistry used Portuguese team of Paulo Malo, when they had a hard time back home and their Institute changed hands. I came to them to get a service, paid substation amount of money and did not know it is illegal! But after Covid and Brexit everything changed, even the owner of CastleView Dental, who thinks he is not responsible for work of his associates. And I must prove my right of gettin a refund for not providing service in the Court. How can I prove, that I needed 4 visits to dentistry but not 40 (it is even logically unbearable). Yes, I am not suicidal, but I am almost died in 2021 and can't effectively communicate, especially during the Court hearing, where owners of Dentistry put the best barristers who dictated to Court what to do! Unbelievable!
A tick box organisation
How they get their ratings is a mystery. They rated my GP practice as "good", yet the reviews for the practice are anything but good. Personally, I've complained several times without any noticeable improvement.
The CQC are there to simply prop up the reputation of failing healthcare providers.
Seems nobody answers the phone.
I reported serious concerns to the CQC
I reported serious concerns to the CQC, concerns which were well evidenced.
These regarding the CQCs failings as a regulator, the CQC marked their own homework and refused to investigate themselves.
Passing me off to the equally phoney PHSO. After looking at my concerns, remarkably, the PHSO handed me back to the CQC.
The CQC don't regulate or investigate concerns, they investigate those who make them.
Their job is to protect the NHS, by being complicit in their lies. Reputations first, patient safety is secondary.
Read the review on here, most are very accurate and mirror my experiences. In my opinion, you'd be better off making disclosures to the press or via social media.
CQC ignored serious concerns
Contacted the CQC about the bad treatment my father received from his GP practice, which landed him in hospital in a serious condition, but they were not interested. They lied and told me they would contact the surgery and find out what was going on, and never did. They then kept saying there was nothing they could do, even though they got every GP practice to sign a 'Statement of Purpose' that Essex Way Surgery ignores. Even though the CQC supposedly investigates bad treatment, when I contacted them, they were not interested.
In January 2026, I submitted a formal complaint to the CQC about my local hospital, detailing 16 separate issues that I personally witnessed during a 12‑day stay on one of their wards—issues that I believe put patients at serious risk.
Between November 2025 and January 2026, I sent three emails to the CQC, but none of them have been acknowledged or answered.
I also raised a complaint directly with the hospital, yet they too have ignored every email.
This lack of response from both the hospital and the regulatory body is exactly why poor patient care continues. Patients and their families are the only ones who seem to care, while the very organisations responsible for safety and accountability fail to act.
Absolutely shocking service
Absolutely shocking service , made numerous complaints in regards to a Neglectfull carehome but Didn't Trigger an investigation no idea why with thee Exctent of Neglect issues put forward.
Dreadful Organisation Not Fit For Purpose
Dreadful Government body with no conscience. My mother in law survived less than six weeks in a local care home with an outstanding rating. Despite reporting the failings of the GP practice and the care home to the CQC (and there were many, some more appalling than others), the CQC dragged their feet and passed our complaints to an ineffective social worker and local council “safeguarding” team, who were more intent on trying to cover things up rather than using their influence to prevent it happening again to other vulnerable people. The CQC were not interested in doing their job and the local safeguarding team have done their utmost to delay and prevent any kind of proper investigation into the joint failings of the privately owned care home and GP practice. It is now clear that our local CQC head is not interested in improving things for the most vulnerable in our community, in fact instead of being impartial our local CQC are happy to be photographed for social media purposes promoting the care home. It is clear that the complaints process and the CQC along with their ratings are not to be trusted and they need to be thoroughly investigated themselves and replaced. It is shocking the amount of public money that is wasted on these people.
Poor and Unaccountable
Our mother was resident in a care home in 2022 and was neglected and treated so badly by the care home and the GP practice associated to the care home such that she sustained rapid weight loss and a sacrum injury over a period of 5 weeks before being transferred to hospital where she died within a couple of days.
The care home in question was ranked as Outstanding by the CQC in 2018, and the GP practice was ranked as good. (Note: Approximately only 6% of care homes in this area are ranked as Outstanding)
The family reported a series of failings that we encountered with the privately run care home and the assigned GP practice to people within the local Council who have an interest in Adult Safeguarding. This has been ongoing for over 2 years without progress and without any of these failings being investigated by anyone (which is a reflection on the Council).
We tried contacting the CQC who explained they do not investigate or get involved with individual cases (although surprisingly they do triage all inbound complaints), however, CQC remit does include accepting feedback from other parties (including the general public) at the time they next conduct a review.
In April 2024, the CQC did tell us that both this care home and the assigned GP practice were both due for another inspection/review from the CQC.
In Dec 2024, we asked (without reply) when do the CQC plan to schedule another inspection/review of the care home and the assigned GP practice.
Early Jan 2025, I noticed the CQC website had been updated (recently) with the same comment against both the care home and the assigned GP practice (and coincidentally with the same historic date in 2023) explaining “We reviewed the information and data available to us about (this care home) on 6 July 2023. We have not found evidence that we need to reassess the rating at this stage. We will continue to monitor information about this service”.
I am fairly sure this comment has been added retrospectively sometime late 2024, possibly because of our persistence pushing our complaint, highlighting the reported failings and asking when the CQC plan to carry out another inspection/review.
I am currently gathering the evidence to hopefully show the CQC have falsified their own records, but I am not going to waste my time complaining to the CQC about their practices, because they don’t appear to be accountable to anyone. Similarly the Ombudsman (who also have bad reviews on this site). I will consider writing to my MP and asking her to raise the profile of this issue and put pressure on improving (or scrapping) the CQC and replacing it with a proper regulator.
My husband contacted cqc because of the…
My husband contacted cqc because of the care his mother recieved in a care home after another fall resulting another hospital stay. 4 weeks after the fall she died. The care home in question was not registered to look after nursing needs and she had nursing needs. We told cqc this as did social worker. Cqc are not bothered. Not replied to my husband because there not bothered. And I should imagine at their next inspection they will give it another good score and ignore failings in this home. Well done cqc.
These people are completely useless - A waste of space, time and taxpayers' money
These people are completely useless seat polishers taking taxpayers' funds to do worse than nothing.
All healthcare in the UK is so bent, wasting £billions on armies of seat polishers like the people at the Care Quality Commission who it seems do nothing, achieve nothing, make nothing and contribute nothing to this country.
I have suffered real physical harm at the hands of the NHS on several occasions specifically because the Care Quality Commission is a waste of space time and money.
They refuse to investigate my complaint against them because "our remit is to deal with complaints from anyone directly affected by the way we carry out our work".
But I am directly affected by their negligence.
They then try to fob me off with the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman who has 98% one star Trust Pilot reviews only because there isn't a no star rating.
CQC ratings need a pinch of salt
CQC ratings on care homes should be taken with a giant pinch of salt. We were present at my mother's care home when the CQC made an unannounced inspection. The Inspector interviewed us. We told her 3 Good Things about the service and 3 Bad Things (including 2 incidents that could have killed Mum). When the CQC report came out, the home was rated Good. It selectively reported our comments - only the Good ones were mentioned.
