Clearcover is the WORST!!!!

I had an extremely frustrating experience with Clearcover following a car accident in August 2023, and it only got worse over time.

After my accident, my vehicle was declared a total loss. The first issue arose immediately when I called to ask where the car should be towed. Shockingly, the representative couldn’t provide any guidance and told me to tow it “anywhere.” This led to multiple phone calls while I was stranded on the side of I-495 South, trying to figure out where my car was supposed to go. It was stressful, confusing, and completely avoidable.

The second issue occurred when I went to retrieve my personal belongings from the tow yard. I had been explicitly told I had another day to collect my items, but when I arrived, the car—and everything in it, including car seats—was already gone. No notice, no accountability, and no explanation for why it was taken early.

The final and most upsetting issue involves billing. After Clearcover paid out for the total loss and I sent them the title, I assumed everything related to that vehicle was closed out. However, I recently discovered—after losing my job and reviewing my finances—that I had been paying insurance on that same car for THREE YEARS after it was no longer in my possession and legally belonged to the company.

When I contacted Clearcover, I spent over five hours on the phone trying to resolve the issue. Despite the circumstances, they refused to reimburse any of the payments made during that time. Apparently, there was an additional step buried in the fine print requiring me to call and remove the vehicle from the policy—something that was never clearly communicated.

This experience has been exhausting and costly. Between the lack of clear communication, mishandling of my property, and refusal to correct a major billing issue, I cannot recommend Clearcover to anyone. Proceed with caution.

STAY AWAY FROM CLEAR COVER!!!!!

I strongly advise anyone considering Clearcover to think twice. This has been the worst insurance experience I have ever had, and I will absolutely never renew my policy.

No one answers the 1-800 customer service line. Communication is painfully slow, disorganized, and unprofessional. When I filed my first claim, no adjuster inspected my vehicle in person — they made a valuation based solely on photos. When the vehicle was later declared a total loss, the company went back on their word and reduced my settlement offer.

The claims process was chaotic. I was communicating with my first adjuster via text when I had to open a second claim. Instead of starting a new thread, a second adjuster began texting me in the exact same conversation. When I called for an update, I was criticized for using the “wrong” line of communication — despite the fact that both adjusters were responding in that same thread. The lack of internal organization is unacceptable.

To make matters worse, my claim was officially closed on December 17, 2025. As of February 19, 2026, I still have not received payment.

The staff has been rude and condescending, and the entire process has felt dismissive and mishandled from start to finish. I would rather go without insurance than ever deal with this company again. If I could give 0 stars I would.

Suddenly increased premium by 70% without cause and changed form monthly billing to full up front premium without ANY NOTICE. This is a scam, and now I can't even cancel my policy as their chat has disabled access to representatives and trying to call just leaves you on hold for an hour only to be disconnected. This company seems to be going under, beware! I am not the only person this just happened to. If anyone has any advice on how to cancel get my premium refunded when they refuse to answer calls please let me know!

Very deceptive billing practices

Very deceptive billing practices. I was an insured driver with Clearcover for 10yrs+ with no accidents, moving violations, etc. One day, they jack up my renewal premium by 70%+ and try to switch me over to a lump sum upfront payment. I went with Clearcover because they were the most cost effective, but this changed things. I shopped around and found similar coverage from one of the big name carriers for a cheaper price. I've never had issues with Clearcover's customer support, but for being a "value product" their billing practices seem like they try to take advantage of customer's loyalty once they're members by steeply raising rates and hoping you won't notice/will be too lazy to care.

Clear Cover is a SCAM

Clear Cover is a SCAM! I was with progressive for over 10 years with no issues except the never ending premium increases. Purchased a new to me vehicle and received correspondence from lienholder for possible lower premium with new insurance company. Reached out not expecting much. However, after speaking with the agent, the premium difference was over $100/mo with a lower deductible and more coverage. Great deal. Or so I thought. I held on to the Progressive for a little over a week (dual coverage) just to make sure everything was ok. Wouldn't you know a couple of days after my Progressive policy ended, I received an email from underwriting stating that due to the DMV record being pulled (which had to MINOR traffice violations and which were disclosed at the time of the quote process) my rate would be higher than the quoted amount - by OVER $100. Had I stayed with progressive, and changed the deductible and coverage and to what Clear Cover was offering, my rates would actually have been cheaper with Progressive!!! AND, there is a $30/mo charge to have a mailing address different from the garage address. As someone said in this post.... stick with the big boys.... I tried to give the little guy / new comer a chance and ended up getting bit.

Drunk driver policy holder crashed into my parked truck and garage-2 months to payout

This claim took 2 months to get paid out after one of your policyholders hit my truck and garage door while I was sitting on my couch in my living room.
I provided video evidence, as well as the license plate and vehicle description yet it took 2 months!
I worked with Zack Stinner who kept saying he has 15 years of experience, yet he did not return any phone calls and did not think twice when the estimate that takes 2-3 days usually was still not completed over a week later.
After having to contact the estimate department directly I was told by Zack that the supervisor "wouldn't pick up anyway" if he transferred me.
Not sure what kind of customer service training your employees have, but I expected someone with 15 years of experience to know how to do his job.

Otherwise, after calling in and speaking to Gentry at the estimating department (he was great and helpful) I was finally able to get my claim paid out.

I’m not sure if this company is cheapest auto insurance or work with them or what I reach out to auto insurance investigator because cheapest auto sucks my mother car was wreck June1 2024 by a drunk driver they denied it due to me being excluded driver the report was wrong my friend was actually driving do to me not having my license on me the adjuster told me to get it amended they would honor it well that was bs because now they giving me the run arounds don’t return calls only text they are rude and they cancel my Insurance which my car had nothing to do with my mother’s car being wrecked, I explained to them that they have the policies mixed up. I do not live with my mother, so why would they cancel my insurance? They told me to add my friend to my policy I said absolutely not why would I add her to my insurance policy when she does not live with me and she has her own insurance and her own home they proceeded to say well we’re canceling your insurance. I said that’s fine. Send me all my money back which they sent $170. My mother have been trying to contact the adjuster which her name is Monica Jackson. She is no help at all. She has a bad attitude and she’s rude. All she keeps saying is that she has to send to a higher department which I know she’s lying she said that August 1, 2024 is going into September still with no results , my car is completely destroyed my mother is single mom trying to make it I have tired to help my mother get in contact with these rude ppl call and everything else I have audio and text messages from this crappy company my mom has full coverage and never misses a payment but can’t get her car fix And I really don’t know the name of this company because they go by several names I was told they were called cheapest auto insurance in Tulsa Oklahoma. Also, they go by save money, car insurance and endmity insurance but on my letter from the investigator it says clear cover insurance I don’t know what this people name is but they need to be shut down they take people money don’t fix anything I have several screen shots of ppl saying they still have yet to get there car fix

Slimy Price Hikes and Telling the Customer to Eat It

Is their process easy? Sure! Is their app nice? Absolutely. Are they devious, unloyal to their customers, and changing the terms of the agreements every 6-months? YOU BET THEY ARE!

Three times my upcoming renewal rate was hiked up by around $100 for each 6-month term. The first time it happened, I took it, because the company was one of the best when it came to the rates being charged. Everyone else wanted $200 more...

I signed up in February of 2023, after they were recommended to me. My initial plan has not changed a bit since the day I signed up. For me, it is the standard by which I purchase all my car insurance, because god-forbid I be involved in a multi-vehicle accident, which is likely with the nutcases on the roads out here these days. My initial price in Feb. 2023 was $393.21 for a 6-month term.

Then, in August of 2023, they hiked the rates up on me by an additional $83.23, and I agreed to a single payment of $476.44 for a 6-month term of coverage. Then AGAIN in February of 2024 they claim they needed to gouge my pockets and hike they prices AGAIN. But this time it was worse - This time they wanted an ADDITIONAL $136.35, for a total of $612.79 for a 6-month term, using the EXACT SAME COVERAGE RATES!! At this point they're doing it just because they can.

Now, for the upcoming renewal using the exact same standards and coverage limits on the same vehicle with no changes since I signed up, they want to charge me over $700 for the exact same 6-month coverage... They said, we want you to give us another $88.93 on top of ALL the other price hikes, for a total of $701.72 for another 6-month term, using the EXACT SAME stuff as the times prior. I expressed my frustrations with the agent, and even told them I was willing to cancel the policy if the rates weren't decreased, and they basically said - "Tough turds, kid, eat it." The sad part is that I recommended this company to all my family and friends because of the great rates the company had in the past. I will be reversing that decision and contacting ALL of the people I recommended this company to and telling them to cancel their policies as well.

This might seem like just another customer whining about price, but if we all bond together and vote with our wallet then companies like this one will cease to exist, or at the least, stop gouging the pockets of their loyal customers for a quick buck.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me thrice, I get my friends together and make you loose thousands of dollars in business. Next time maybe you'll think about the customer.

Very POOR Service

I had Clearcover insurance for two years; my wife hit a deer, and we needed to file a claim. We took pictures to send in for the damages as they do not send anyone out to look at your vehicle. Then, you submit the claim, and they send you a check for what they think will cover the damages. However, when the body shop starts working on the vehicle and sees that they will need additional funds to cover the damage, they want to negotiate the amount of money they think they should receive. In the end, the adjuster, Alex Sharman, refused to pay the full amount. The body shop would not release the vehicle until I paid the difference. Clearcover also makes you pay for the rental car, and they will reimburse you. I had a rental car that was not comparable to what I had coverage for, so it was under the amount of rental coverage that I had on my vehicle, and they refused to reimburse me for the amount I spent on the rental car. I called five or six body shops in my area before I could find someone to take Clearcover insurance; now I understand why they will not accept Clearcover. Clearcover is a six-month policy, and every six months, they increased the rate by $200 to $300. I canceled this policy and I would not recommend Clearcover insurance. Thank you, Mike.

Not very customer focused thus far

I am mid process with this company on a claim (one of their clients hit my car). My adjuster never calls or returns calls by phone; she eventually returns calls via email. She doesn’t refer to me as Mr or by my first name; it’s “hello” or nothing at all. In my opinion, not customer service oriented and not fair in deciding what size loaner car I am entitled to. Based on this experience, I would never use this company. My Allstate agent is so much more customer focused.

This is the worst insurance company I have ever seen, let alone been a customer of. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. My car has been at the body shop for eight weeks now, and the body shop can't go forward because of one excuse after another as to why they haven't approved my claim. They tried to pay $2,500 for a claim that is $19,000. Every time you call, you will get a different person. It's like a facade for an insurance company and could potentially be a scam. I'm suing to find out. This is the first claim I have ever made, and I've been driving for 34 years. I didn't expect this. GO ANYWHERE ELSE FOR INSURANCE, trust me.

This company is ridiculous. They are asking me to "exclude" a household member who doesn't drive my vehicle and trying to CHARGE ME to exclude! What kind of nonsense is this?

Not only that, they took two weeks to reply to my email.

Stay Clear!

I had the insurance for a year and upon renewal it went up considerably (around $100) without me filing any claims. Ironically, I hit a deer and submitted a claim. Two days went by without anyone from Clearcover reaching out, in spite of the advertised 24 hour turn around. I called and missed the call back, I called back and left another voice message and received no call back. Waited a few days and left a message, no call back. Called again 3 days later and still no call back. I dropped them and they refunded my money right away. Hopefully they will take care of the claim soon. It has been 7 days since the wreck without any idea of what is going on.

If I could rate it a zero

If I could rate it a zero, I would. Customer service, response
time, and overall professionalism was terrible. We were hit by someone covered by Clearcover and it was 100% their fault. We were left without a vehicle for 2 months. The list goes on and on.

The ABSOLUTE worst company I have ever…

The ABSOLUTE worst company I have ever used. They are committing fraud and there will be a class action suit filed very soon.

They will send you a "survey" every years as a way to badger you ask for all kinds of insane documentation. They do not send the survey certified or with a carrier that requires a signature. They will not email you the survey, text you its on its way or alert you to anything via the app.

If for any reason you don't return the survey they then send you a letter telling you your policy has been terminated. They then force you to no longer pay each month but to pay for the remainder of the policy months in advance.

Report them, review them, and run if you aren't already a customer.

One star is overrated

One star is overrated, but I can’t give them any less. We went with Clearcover for my daughter mainly due to their pricing. Big mistake. They took the initial payment, then e-mailed several requests for information to my daughter. She provided all requested information by return e-mail. My daughter even received e-mails with follow up questions and requests for alternate documentation which she answered and provided, again by e-mail. They sent an e-mail reminder that the next payment would be charged to the credit card. Next, they then sent a notice of cancellation for failure to provide information via USPS only which was not received until after the cancellation was effective. Interesting they would send this notice via USPS only while all other correspondence was via e-mail. When trying to contact them by phone, we received a message that no one was available and then hung up on with no other information (hours, option to leave a message, etc.). When Clearcover was contacted by e-mail, and responded 2 days later, they had the audacity to say there was nothing they could do, but we could apply for another policy. There is no way we would have any further dealing with this company. I would recommend anyone looking for insurance deal with an established and reputable company with a good customer service record and ethical business practices, which is what we did after dealing with this shady company. The other negative reviews indicate the same type of issues we encountered. I am sure they will receive more of the same with the way they do business.
