Excellent team who made the move smooth and effortless and cared about our possessions. They worked really hard to make everything as easy as possible. Nothing was too much trouble. A great experience.

City Moves were very professional in handling my move.
Everything was wrapped in blankets, nothing damaged. The guys were friendly and hardworking to get me in last minute in time for Christmas.
All in all I would highly recommend.

I moved house last week after a long period of planning and comparing quotes. I was mentally prepared for all the wrong things that could happen during the move. I chose Citymoves even though it wasn't the cheapest option out there. I am glad I went with them. 2 strong men arrived in a giant vehicle on time, and they went above and beyond to get the job done properly. When we moved to the new house, I didn't need to give any instructions. They saw the new carpeted floor, so they automatically lay down plastic wrap to cover the areas they will walk onto. They meticulously re-assembled the furniture that they dismantled to get out of the tiny door in the old house and they were polite and friendly despite the stress of the job. I never bother to give a review and they didn't ask for one, but it is hard to find highly skilled movers out there, so I felt that I owe it to them. I will certainly call them if we move house again.

I just want to send a big warning to all those who consider using this company.

Back in September 2022 we booked city moves to move our home items from South Wales to Cumbria. Our home wasn't going to be ready until Christmas so our agreement at the time of booking was that any potential issues will be reported after our moving in date.

The company have send a big lorry
And 3 men to load the vehicle.

Journey was approximately 5 hours and drivers had to stay overnight to start work early morning the following day. We were grateful for their assistance and attempts to fit all our items across 3 storage units, so we offered them a good tip...

3 months later we emptied the units only to discover that 1 particular item was missing. A glass table top. Both of us remember quite distinctively that the driver said he had a 'special place' for it.the item was probably worth nothing much on its own but the glass table designated for sale (worth over £300) is now worth nothing without it.

I contacted the office about it and surprise, surprise - they did not want to have anything to do with it. Nobody remembered any agreement, nothing left on the lorry, it has been too long etc.

The table top was probably broken in transit (we followed the lorry and have witnessed it stopping near roundabout shortly after departure.)

It is extremely sad that the company does not want to take the responsibility. We found them to be dishonest and most definitely would not recommend you using them. All that after we have been so polite for them - from assisting to making them drinks, ensuring their welfare and rewarding them for what we initially thought was a good job.....

We were really happy with Citymoves with our move from Bucks to Cardigan, Wales. They arrived on time, were hard working and friendly. They did everything they said they were going to do, which is rare these days!

They went above and beyond carrying furniture up a long muddy drive without complaint.

Overall really happy and would definitely use them again!

Moved with them in December. Have been too upset to face reviewing until now.

I want to be fair so will say that two out of the three packers were friendly, professional and did a good job. Couldn’t fault them. The three removal guys were also friendly and professional and did their best. They worked so so hard. It was a long day for them. The main problem lay with how many people were sent to the job. Three wasn’t enough as it was a long journey time too and so they were rushing leading to many many breakages and some damage.

Problems;
1 arrived half a day late to pack. No contact about this. No apology.
2 one packer was surly and rude. We had asked for people who were able to wear masks. He was very surly about this.
3 one packer just emptied the contents of drawers into boxes without wrapping adequately leading to breakages.
4 one packer didn’t label boxes clearly and as half of the stuff needed to go into storage that’s an issue.
5 only three movers sent. Too much to do in a day leading to;
- damage to floor (dragging furniture rather than lifting) in old house
- damage to walls and paintwork in both houses
- damage to bed frame, chest of drawers, outdoor cold frame, wardrobe and more - they weren’t protected well enough in the van and weren’t placed in the best locations in the van to avoid damage. They are antiques passed down so irreplaceable and the damage irreparable.
- furniture reassembled badly - had to re do this

They did their best but not enough people meant they had to rush and this lead to the problems.

I haven’t been able to face opening the china still in boxes. I can’t face it. It’s all been pretty upsetting.

We were promised that a special painting would be wrapped very carefully. It wasn’t. We took it ourselves to be sure as we could see how roughly our things were being treated. Was promised our brand new sofas would be covered a certain way and not stood on end. I had to be really on it with them about this.

Filled in a form at the end detailing that things were damaged and never heard back. I haven’t had the energy to take it further. Just going to live with it. You live and learn. No amount of money will make a difference to the stress and upset caused and the damage done is impossible to fix.

Don’t be fooled by the promises made when you get a quote. Insist on the right number of people you think is needed. Or go to a different company.

We will be moving again and another family member will be too and we plan to go with a different company for both. We will pack ourselves to be sure things are carefully protected.

Disaster

Ordered a 7 tonne lorry and 2 men to help

Got a 3 tonne van with a different companies logo on it, 1 man and a young boy, 4 hours later than agreed. When calling to find out where they were, they lied and lied.

Half my stuff was left in the rain while they went back for the rest (as it didnt fit on the smaller van)

Lovely friendly sales team sounded like they were up for the job but a total nightmare in the end. They ripped apart our wardrobes and lost lots of the fixings. They were supposed to reassemble them but said they didn't have any tools. I offered them my husbands tools and then they said they'd run out of time. When my husband tried to assemble them, he couldn't because so much was broken and missing fixings. Our first trip out was to get wood glue.
We had 2 1/2 lorries and the last one had our full size pool table on but only 2 guys who could do the lifting and the driver who had just come out of hospital so was on light duties. It was really a 4 man job and, of the 2 who could lift, only one had a vague idea of how to put it together. Needless to say, it got damaged.
A few days later, we started emptying boxes and started coming across lots of broken stuff. They said anything marked fragile would be put on top which it probably was when they loaded the lorries but last thing on so first things off and all our fragile boxes ended up at the bottom of piles when they unloaded.
All seven of our pine beds were loaded together so bits were all mixed up. It took ages to match ends with sides and which bolts fit which bed.
Then we found an antique chest of drawers had had the top ripped off but they just buried under boxes. Getting any form of compensation or help was a nightmare. Then to top it all off, they had their website hacked a month or so later and I had numerous emails from random people with all my bank details on. I was furious.
I could go on but I'll just say that I would never use them again and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They aren't cheap and took the money from my credit card without me knowing before they even did the move. I should've checked for a stetson in n the salesman's car before I said yes.

Very eager before the move. Very dynamic on the days but did not give the service offered. Half of my property was put into storage which was packed, without me, in a manor that means I cannot get/or check what is there. As I am missing some items I hope that they are in storage but am unable to check without the added cost of hiring some help to move items about.
As 4 items that were delivered to my new home have been found to be broken I am worried that more maybe damaged that have been put into storage, that I am not able to check.
Finally the charges, taken from my account without notice or acknowledgement, are more than I was quoted.
