MAKE SURE YOU GET PETE if you're doing the Intensive Carpentry course. I wasn't so lucky. Pete [he's the bloke in all of the promotional photos for the course] was only there for a few hours across a couple of the days. Instead we had a stand-in, Aaron, who definitely does not fit the description: "Expert Instructors: Learn from industry leaders with extensive knowledge and hands-on experience, preparing you for all aspects of carpentry." Neither is he a "time-served, experienced carpenter & kitchen fitter". It was a joke really. As lovely as Aaron is, 'expert' or 'time-served' he ain't. Make sure you get what you are paying for - the expert tutor [Pete] and the full hours (and bring a sharpening stone ;)

Did the intense kitchen fitting course. Really eye opening in. The instructor, John, was really great!

I attended the Intensive 5 day Plumbing Course this week. The tutor Lee was very experienced and with a small group of 6 of us he was able to dedicate enough 1-2-1 time to each of us to ensure we all fully understood the principles before we started the hands-on tasks.

Really enjoyed the course. Lee was really helpful, clear and keen to offer extra help.

Lee, was amazing throughout the course I learned so much from lee such as fitting the toilet, sink, radiator and bath and many more but mostly I like about the soldering.

Excellent Training Experience at CBWA – Highly Recommend!

I recently completed my Level 2 City & Guilds MMA Welding course at CBWA, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the experience.

The training centre itself is very well organised, with proper workshop facilities and real hands-on practice on materials like 3mm and 6mm plate. Everything is structured in a way that builds your confidence step by step, whether you’re improving your technique or preparing for assessment.

What really made the difference was our trainer and assessor, Chris. He was absolutely outstanding. Chris has a deep understanding of MMA welding and explains everything clearly — from electrode selection and settings to technique, arc control and positional welding. No question was ever too small, and he made sure every student understood not just how to do something, but why it works that way.

He gave individual feedback, corrected mistakes patiently, and genuinely cared about helping us pass at a high standard — not just scrape through. His support during the practical assessments made a huge difference to our confidence.

If you’re considering doing a City & Guilds welding qualification, I would highly recommend CBWA — especially if Chris is your trainer.

A brilliant learning experience from start to finish.

Attended the 5-day intensive plumbing course in January this year. What a great course. Learned so much and now feel confident to undertake work; in fact, I’ve already completed a few plumbing jobs at work! Went on a weekend tig aluminium welding course, it was very good lots of time to practice with helpful instructions from Paul.

I attended the intensive plumbing course with Lee as part of CBWAs Multi Skills 5 week programme.

Being 60, female and a complete novice with no prior experience in plumbing or indeed anything related to construction, I was a little daunted by the prospect of attending the course, however from the get-go it was a blast.
Lee is a terrific tutor and can’t believe I successfully plumbed in an entire bathroom suite together with a radiator and then dismantle the entire kit.

Also picked up a host of tips & knowledge on how to fix leaky toilets & taps to replacing or balancing radiators.

As per other reviews “Lee has a great teaching style and is very relaxed and clearly has enormous amounts of experience which enables him to explain how things work and what to look out for in the real world”

Also a big thank you to the other "plumbers" on the course, you were brilliant company and super supportive

For me, as I embark on refurbishing my home, it means I have the confidence to tackle small plumbing jobs myself (will save a fortune) but moreover the confidence when engaging with tradespeople to ascertain exactly what the work entails, the cost and any potential knock on implications. Too often, I have accepted substandard work or escalating bills because I was clueless……but not anymore.

I attended the 5 day Mig intro and the 5 day Tig intro.
Both Chris and Pete were fantastic!
Clearly explained every step and with decades of experience between them knew exactly where I needed improvement with a quick look.
Within a few days I had changed to the Mig city and guilds level 2 course, and passed.
This is down purely to the time and effort Chris and Pete take with attendees. They work people and their individual styles of learning.
Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about learning a new skill the CBWA offer! The entire team are great!

Just completed the 5 day Intensive Plumbing Course and it was spot on. Instructor Lee was a wealth of knowledge from several decades in the trade and went all out to pass on as much knowledge as possible in the time we were with him. From simple tap washer change, soldering, fittings and radiator systems and everything in-between. Learning trade work arounds for problems that would otherwise stump me will be invaluable. Nothing was too much trouble for Lee and I would have no problem recommending this course and at the price you're onto a winner.

All aspects were explained and demonstrated with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and perform any practical job tailored to individual needs. This was in addition to the installation and testing of a full bathroom suite and radiators I now know how taps work and how to repair or replace fittings, the inner workings of toilets and central heating were also covered in detail..
This course is a MUST for anyone wanting to gain knowledge and confidence to perform work on plumbing projects. This course will provide every bit of knowledge needed for most jobs.

I attended this college about 10 years ago and it completely changed my life. I trained as a bricklayer which was the beginning of a complete overhaul in career. I was then taken on by Leicester Council and taken on to train in multi trades. Long story short I am now a Building Surveyor. And I am loving it. Great training center

I have completed the Intensive Plumbing Course with Lee. Over the 5 days we covered a wide range of domestic plumbing installations and repairs, through both theory and hands on learning. Having completed a bathroom before, I enrolled on the course to further strength my knowledge and gain confidence; I can definitely say the course provided this. Lee was a great instructor, keeping the days light and entertaining, while sharing the 'tricks of the trade'. Would highly recommend the course. Thank you Lee!

I’ve just completed the CBWA Kitchen Fitter course and it was a comprehensive, intensive two-weekend program. Huge thanks to our tutor, John Little – an experienced carpenter who shared his knowledge generously and made the course both practical and rewarding. Highly recommended!

Really great 5-day intensive plumbing course with Lee. He’s friendly, knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions we may have. He’s also good at explaining concepts and give tips based on his many years of experience as a plumber. In the span of a week you get to install a whole bathroom, as well as radiators. Very beginner friendly and the staff were amazing, really good range of training activities and a really fun day, Chris was amazing, very friendly and encouraging! Would highly recommend!!

I was on an intensive welding course which started off bumpy but I stuck with it for the entire week. The instructors were amazing. Helpful and willing to answer all my annoying questions. I learned so much, picked up skills I wanted to a great standard and more. They seemingly went the extra mile for me as they saw I was doing pretty well and pushed me to do more harder welds and tests. They helped with advice for my future needs where I want to be welder and I cannot thank them enough
